Abstract. Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that commonly occurs in children and is characterized by recurrent exacerbations. The recurrence of AD is influenced by various risk factors, including individual characteristics, environmental exposure, and a history of allergic diseases. This study aimed to determine the prevalence and describe the risk factors associated with recurrent atopic dermatitis in children at Muhammadiyah Hospital Bandung in 2023. This study was a descriptive quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The study subjects were children diagnosed with atopic dermatitis at Muhammadiyah Hospital Bandung in 2023, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were obtained from medical records and questionnaires completed by the patients’ parents. Data analysis was performed descriptively by presenting frequency distributions and percentages for each variable. The results showed that of the 36 subjects who met the inclusion criteria, the majority were male (52.8%), with the largest age group being 6–12 years (36.1%). A total of 63.9% of children experienced recurrence of atopic dermatitis within the last six months, with the most common recurrence frequency being 1–2 episodes (47.2%). Commonly identified risk factors included a family history of allergic diseases (63.9%), exposure to dust, sweat, and certain foods as recurrence triggers, as well as the presence of allergic comorbidities such as food allergy, allergic rhinitis, and asthma. were also found to contribute to AD recurrence.
