Abstract

Intensive vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) farming using a fermentation-based system offers an innovative solution to environmental management and production efficiency. This study was conducted over one cultivation cycle (80 days) in six ponds operated by CV Tambak 58, North Bali, integrating periodic probiotic fermentation. Key parameters evaluated included growth (ABW, ADG), feed efficiency (FCR), survival rate (SR), water quality, and microbiological stability. Results showed high productivity (up to 2.53 kg/m²), low FCR (1.13–1.40), and SR >85%, accompanied by stable planktonic and microbial communities. These findings indicate that fermentation-based systems reduce environmental stress and disease risks while enhancing the sustainability of intensive shrimp aquaculture

Abstract

The black ghost fish (Apteronotus albifrons) is a freshwater ornamental fish with a distinctive knife-like shape (Knife fish). Its unique shape makes it have high economic value in the market. However, the growth rate and high mortality of this fish are obstacles for cultivators. The main focus of this study was to determine the effect of providing different types of feed on the growth and survival of black ghost fish (A. albifrons) seeds. The study was conducted at the Mina Mustika Fish Farming Group, Bekasi City, for 45 days using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The treatment consisted of three types of feed, namely natural feed (Tubifex sp.) (P1), a combination of natural feed (Tubifex sp.) + commercial feed (PF100) (P2), and commercial feed (PF100) (P3), with three replications in each treatment. The parameters observed were absolute length growth, absolute weight, specific growth rate (SGR), and survival rate (SR). The measurement of water quality parameters was carried out as a form of attention to supporting factors for the study. The findings showed that the combination feed treatment (P2) provided the highest growth in length, weight, and specific growth rate with absolute length values ​​(4.36 cm), absolute weight (3.73 gr), and SGR (4.67%), followed by natural feed (P1) providing absolute length (4.09 cm), absolute weight (3.39 gr), and SGR (4.54%), and the lowest commercial feed (P3) providing absolute length (3.37 cm), absolute weight (2.50 gr), and SGR (3.91%). The highest survival rate (SR) was found in the natural feed treatment at 94%, followed by commercial feed at 93%, and combination feed at 91%. In general, water quality during the research period was in the optimal range to support the growth and survival of black ghost fish (A. albifrons) seeds. Abstract

Catfish (Clarias sp.) viscera waste has the potential to pollute the environment but contains high levels of N, P, and K nutrients. This study aimed to determine the effect of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) made from catfish viscera waste on the productivity of Azolla microphylla and to identify the most effective dosage. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments was used: P0 (control, no LOF), P1 (dose 2.250 ml/L), and P2 (dose 2.625 ml/L), each replicated three times. LOF was produced through 14-day fermentation using Lactobacillus spp. probiotic. Azolla microphylla was cultivated in 25-liter buckets with an initial weight of 30 g for 30 days. Parameters measured included absolute weight growth and daily growth rate. ANOVA results showed significant differences among treatments (p=0.009). Tukey Post Hoc test indicated that P1 and P2 differed significantly from P0 but not from each other. Treatment P1 produced the highest absolute weight growth (203.00 g), followed by P2 (173.33 g) and P0 (108.67 g). A dose of 2.250 ml/L was the most effective dosage to enhance Azolla microphylla productivity.

Abstract

White shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is a leading aquaculture commodity in Indonesia whose production is often hampered by Vibrio parahaemolyticus infection, the causative agent of Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease (AHPND) with mortality reaching 85–100%. This study aimed to determine the effect of immersion in jeruju leaf extract (Acanthus ilicifolius) on the immune response and survival of V. parahaemolyticus-infected white shrimp, and to identify its optimal concentration. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used with five groups: negative control, positive control, and extract immersion at 200, 300, and 400 mg/L for 30 minutes. Data were analyzed using One Way ANOVA followed by Duncan's test. Results showed that jeruju leaf extract immersion significantly affected (p<0.05) THC, DHC composition (an increase in the proportion of granular cells), and post-infection survival rate. The 400 mg/L concentration (treatment C) produced the best results, with the highest THC of 15.08 × 10⁶ cells/ml, the highest proportion of granular cells at 65.67%, and the highest SR of 79.17%, compared to only 48.33% in the positive control. These findings demonstrate that jeruju leaf extract has potential as an environmentally friendly herbal immunostimulant for controlling V. parahaemolyticus infection in white shrimp aquaculture.

Abstract

Ikan nila (O. niloticus) merupakan komoditas budidaya dengan nilai ekonomis tinggi, namun ketergantungan pakan komersial berbahan baku impor meningkatkan biaya produksi. Oleh sebab itu, diperlukan alternatif bahan pakan yang berharga murah, serta memiliki nutrisi yang tinggi. Salah satu bahan yang dapat dijadikan solusi alternatif adalah daun kelor (M. oleifera). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian campuran tepung daun kelor fermentasi dan pakan komersial terhadap tingkat pertumbuhan benih ikan nila (O. Niloticus). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental yang menggunakan tiga (3) perlakuan berbeda. Ikan nila yang digunakan memiliki panjang 5-4 cm dan berat 3-4 g. Benih ikan nila dengan padat tebar 1 ekor/L air dikultur pada akuarium selama 30 hari dengan 3 perlakuan dan tiga ulangan yaitu P1 (100% pakan komersil), P2 (80% pakan komersial + 20% tepung daun kelor tanpa fermentasi), P3 (80% pakan komersial + 20% tepung daun kelor dengan fermentasi). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan P3 (80% pakan komersial + 20% tepung daun kelor dengan fermentasi) memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap parameter pertumbuhan panjang mutlak (2,9±0,3 cm), dan sintasan antar perlakuan  (p 0,05),  namun pada parameter pertumbuhan bobot mutlak, SGR, dan FCR tidak menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan antar perlakuan (p 0,05). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa daun kelor fermentasi berpotensi sebagai bahan pakan alternatif yang dapat mendukung kelangsungan hidup dan pertumbuhan ikan nila

Abstract

Tilapia production is greatly influenced by feed as a source of energy and nutrients that support growth, health, survival, and reproduction. The growth rate of fish is closely related to feed quality, so that growth optimization can be achieved through the provision of quality feed. The ingredient that can be used as an alternative for optimizing feed quality is purple sweet potato flour (Ipomoea batatas L.). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of commercial feed added synbiotics with different doses on the growth rate of tilapia. This study used a complete random design method with 3 treatments, with a maintenance duration of 56 days. Each treatment uses commercial feed, treatment 1 is control, treatment 2 is 1.5% prebiotic and probiotic 2%, treatment 3 is 2% prebiotic and probiotic 2%. The results of the assumption test stated that treatment 3 obtained a significant number as well as the highest score with an absolute weight of 28.59, SGR of 3.32, FER of 78.4, FCR of 1.28. This value illustrates that synergibiotic feed has the potential to improve the quality and quality of feed which leads to the growth rate of tilapia.

Abstract

The quality of water as a maintenance medium in the recirculation system can decrease rapidly due to feeding activitiescarried out by fish such as waste in the form of faeces and leftover feed that settles to the bottom of the water. Water treatmentand optimization of filter media are ways to reduce pollutants dissolved in water. The purpose of this study was to determinethe survival rate and growth rate of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) reared in a recirculation system with different filter media.There were 3 (three) filter media treatments in wastewater treatment with recirculation systems, namely P0 filter mediawithout pakcoy plants, P1 filter media with pakcoy plants and P2 filter media with pakcoy plants and additional pumice.Evaluation of survival and growth of fish using oneway Anova data analysis. The results of the study during the 30-day rearingperiod showed that the highest survival value and growth rate of fish were obtained in the treatment of filter media withpakcoy plants and additional pumice. During the research, treatment P0, P1, and P2 respectively gave fish survival rates of78.2%, 80.2% and 85.0%, absolute weight gain of 10.12 g, 12.09 g and 15.19 g and the absolute length of 2.46 cm, 3.21 cmand 4.81 cm. The survival rate of tilapia (O. niloticus) in three different recirculation systems did not show a significant effect(P > 0.05) but had a significant effect (P < 0.05) on growth. The result of the study showed that tilapias from the recirculatingsystem with pakcoy plants and additional pumice as filter media provides better growth performance compared to the systemwithout pakcoy plants and additional pumice via improved water quality throughout the culture.
