Abstract

Background: Gayam (Inocarpus fagifer Fosb.) contains natural chemicals in the form of primary metabolites which play an important role in the survival of the style plant, not only primary metabolites, but the style plant contains secondary metabolites which are beneficial for the survival of the style plant in its environment Methods: The aim of this research was to determine the tannin content of gayam leaves at different altitudes. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative and qualitative with a sampling technique using purposive sampling. Results: The results of the research show that based on photochemical tests, gayam leaves in Negeri Ema and Airlouw Hamlet contain tannin compounds. The total tannin content in Negeri Ema was 1.3956 mgTAE/g, while Airlouw Hamlet was 1.5484 mgTAE/g, which means the tannin content was higher in Airlouw Hamlet. The implication of the research results for biology learning is by creating a practical guide for biochemistry courses Conclusion: the tannin content of Gayam (Inocarpus fagifer Fosb.) leaves in Negeri Ema (highlands) is 1.3956 mgTAE/g, while the tannin content of Gayam (Inocarpus fagifer Fosb.) leaves in Air Louw Hamlet (lowlands) is 1.5484 mgTAE/g. So the tannin content in the lowlands is greater than the tannin content in the highlands

Background: This research aims to improve critical and creative thinking skills in teacher professional development courses through the application of the TPACK approach which is integrated with the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model. Method: This research uses an exploratory research model. Qualitative data was obtained after the pretest, during learning, after the posttest through interviews and questionnaires. Quantitative data was obtained through pretest and posttest data. The research subjects were Biology students at FKIP Pattimura University who offered teacher professional development courses. The research instrument used was a test. Quantitative data analysis uses descriptive statistics and test scores, while qualitative data analysis uses data collection procedures, data reduction, data presentation, and building a conclusion. Results: The results of calculating the implementation of the TPACK approach integrated with the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model to improve students' critical and creative thinking skills in teacher professional development courses show an average value of 89.90 with a significant value of 0.000, which is smaller than 0. 05 (0.000<0.05) so the hypothesis can be accepted. Conclusion: The application of the TPACK approach integrated with the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model is very effective in improving the critical and creative thinking skills of prospective biology teacher students. Keywords: TPACK, PjBL, critical thinking, creative thinking. teacher professional development.

Abstract

Background: This study aims to reveal the effectiveness of inquiry-based open education resources (OER) in the form of worksheet (LKM) to improve critical thinking skills in SMAN 2 Magelang. Methods: The type of research used is a type of development research with the Research and Development (DDR) model proposed by Richey & Clein 2010. This research was carried out in March-June 2020 at the SMAN 2 Magelang. Results: The results of the calculation of the implementation of learning with the OER method showed a reliability coefficient of 0.66 so it was included in the good category. The average score on critical thinking skills is 85.7 (Very good). Conclusion: Inquiry-based OER method is effective for improving critical thinking skills of students in plant ecology courses. Keywords: OER”, thinking ability”, critical”, inquiry

Abstract

Background: The coastline of Negeri Hatu in Central Maluku Regency harbors a diverse tree vegetation ecosystem that plays a critical role in maintaining environmental stability and mitigating coastal erosion. This study aims to analyze the structure and composition of tree vegetation in the Negeri Hatu beach area. Methods: The research employed the quadrat transect method with purposive sampling to observe diversity, density, dominance, and evenness of vegetation. Results: The results showed the presence of 7 tree species from 7 different families, with a Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H') value of 3.071, indicating moderate species diversity. Coconut trees (Cocos nucifera) had the highest Importance Value Index (IVI) at 36.39%, signifying their significant ecological role in maintaining the stability of the coastal ecosystem. Species distribution was relatively even, with low dominance levels. Conclusion: The study concludes that conserving coastal vegetation is crucial for maintaining the balance of coastal ecosystems and mitigating environmental impacts.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Environmental Education (EE) courses for second-semester students in the Biology Education Study Program by examining the relationship between the Semester Learning Plan (SLP), lecturers teaching practices, and students learning experiences. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques including document analysis, interviews with lecturers, and student interviews. The analysis reveals that the EE curriculum structure incorporates learning outcomes based on ecological literacy and is implemented through active methods such as recycling projects and field trips to environmental institutions. Students demonstrated positive responses and began to exhibit changes in their attitudes toward the environment, though these changes were not yet fully consistent. The study also highlighted the importance of integrating sustainability values across courses and strengthening affective evaluation. In conclusion, the implementation of PLH contributes to the development of students ecological awareness and is relevant for expansion in biology teacher education.

Abstract

Group investigation is a learning model focused on collaboration between teachers and students, involving task sharing, sub-theme assignments, and presentation schedules. Inquiry learning emphasizes critical and analytical thinking to solve problems or answer questions, and it can involve the use of miniature models to enhance cognitive and metacognitive skills. The aim of this study is to determine how the integration of the Group Investigation Learning Model and Inquiry Learning Strategy impacts cognitive and metacognitive learning outcomes in students at the Fourth Public Senior High School of Ambon, Maluku Province. The methods used in this research are descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Based on the cognitive learning results of analysis covariance, the significant value is 0.001, which is less than the critical value of 0.05. This means that the research hypothesis is accepted, indicating that there is an influence of the Group Investigation model and Inquiry Strategy on the improvement of learning outcomes for students in the Eleventh Grade Natural Sciences Interest Group. Additionally, the metacognitive learning result has a significant value of 0.006, which is less than critical value, meaning that the hypotheses are accepted, indicating that Group Investigation and learning strategies have a positive influence on improving students' metacognitive learning outcomes.
