Abstract

Javanese language has the largest number of speakers in Indonesia. The Javanese are scattered in almost every region in Indonesia, including in Papua which has settlements for transmigrants. Nabire is one of the areas in Central Papua that is designated for the transmigration program, so that many villages have a large population of Javanese speakers. However, as Nabire developed, there were more and more immigrants, not only from the Javanese. So that to communicate, people choose to use Indonesian or Papuan Malay so that they can be accepted and understood by all ethnic groups. Now, the use of Javanese in transmigrant villages is mixed with Indonesian, Papuan Malay, and other regional languages. However, Javanese is still often used, especially in the family realm. This study aims to describe the use of Javanese in the family sphere by Javanese transmigrants in Wadio Village, West Nabire District, Nabire, Papua. The research method uses a qualitative descriptive technique with a sample of 105 respondents. Determination of the number of respondents was taken from 10% of the total Javanese population of 1,050 people. The results of this study indicate that there is still language maintenance in the village. In the old group, they have high loyalty with a percentage of 86.75%, while in the young group, it is moderate with a percentage of 51.25%.

Abstract

This article discusses the use of representative associative speech style in Ustaz Abdul Somad's (UAS) sermons as a means to create humor while delivering religious advice. This linguistic style employs indirect comparisons to clarify meanings and enhance audience comprehension. The study adopts a functional pragmatic analysis method, with data derived from UAS's sermon themed "Dari Persaudaraan Menuju Kebangkitan." The analysis reveals that UAS consistently utilizes this speech style to create a relaxed, enjoyable, and entertaining atmosphere. The pattern involves explaining religious laws, providing examples through comparisons, and emphasizing the core message. This approach not only helps the audience better understand the sermon but also enriches the study of Indonesian language through a pragmastilistic perspective. Moreover, the representative associative speech style can be applied in language and literature education to enhance students’ speaking skills and creativity.

Abstract

The background of this study began with the low level of health literacy, which has an impact on patients' understanding of technical terms during medical consultations. With the rapid development of information technology, people now find it easier to access various health information through digital media but are also faced with challenges related to filtering accurate and reliable information. Health education is an important factor in guiding people to understand and implement a healthy lifestyle based on correct information. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the role of health education in increasing public awareness of clinical communication in the digital era. In addition, it examines the phenomenon of patient confusion regarding medical terminology in clinical communication practices. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, researchers conducted in-depth interviews with eight patients aged 25–60 years, all of whom did not have a medical education background. The Wami Jaya Health Center in Nabire Regency conducted this study. Data were analyzed thematically. The results of the study showed that, although most people are used to accessing health information online, there are still gaps in understanding and implementing appropriate clinical communication. Therefore, health education programs that utilize digital technology, such as webinars, health applications, and interactive educational content, can be an effective solution to increase public awareness and knowledge about clinical communication. In addition, the research findings revealed four main patterns: lack of understanding of medical terms, passive communication behavior, linguistic gaps between doctors and patients, and ineffectiveness of written educational materials. This study concludes that the health literacy crisis is not just an individual problem but also a reflection of an unresponsive communication system.
