Abstract

Dol is a traditional Bengkulu musical instrument resembling a bedug, which is played by striking using a wooden bat with a cloth-covered end. The Dol instrument is tubular with a slightly oblong bottom and has a single membrane as the sound source at the top. The body is painted in bright hues like red, green, and yellow to make it more appealing. Its distinctive form inspired the development of textile products in the form of makeup bags. Ornamentation of works using the batik techniques. The process used to create this artwork involves three stages: exploration, seeking sources of knowledge on dol musical instruments; design, which entails creating drawings for the work; embodiment, which consists of the writing batik technique and stitching the bag. The five pieces of original artwork and two pieces of designed artwork are combined to form a makeup bag. Each work is titled according to the type of rhythm in playing dol namely Suwena 1, Suwena 2, Suwari 1, Suwari 2, Suwari 3, Tamatam 1, and Tamatam 2.

Abstract

Balango, a traditional pottery used as a cooking utensil in Minangkabau villages, has been transformed as an interior aesthetic support or aesthetic element, so that balango becomes more dynamic and has prospects as an art commodity. This research aims to examine the revitalization of pottery at Galogandang Pottery Hall in Luhan Nan Tuo, West Sumatra. This research uses a mixed method as a reference strategy for developing the potential of clay for the application of local pottery crafts in a sustainable manner through a creative approach supported by laboratory tests. Balango at Galogandang Pottery Hall, there is a development of local art product designs in the form of flower vases; pendil teapots, and kadhai whose clay raw materials are formulated from three types of soil with a clay fraction of 23% (sandy loam clay); kaolinite (21%), illite (41%), and quartz (38) minerals; oxide composition dominated by SiO2 (37%) and Fe2O3 (35%); burn shrinkage (19%); specific gravity (1.75 g cm-3), porosity (26.60%) and compressive strength (225.48 kg cm-2). This composition can be used to customize new ideas for other products by combining different forms (figurative and abstract), resulting in visually beautiful and functional utilitarian pottery for interiors with artistic quality and local flavor.

Abstract

AbstractMandailing script is one of the cultural heritage relics of the Mandailing people handed down by ancestors in the form of ancient writing. Mandailing scriptas an idea of creation on batik shirts is a work to raise the local value of the Mandailing people’s wisdom. The concept of creating this work departs from the Mandailing script as a motif on batik shirts. The script that’s applied to the shirt inthe form of the introduction of the induk surat (ina ni surat) and anak surat of the will then be arranged vertically, horizontally and zigzag vertically as sentences in the form of advice in Mandailing. The theoretical basics used in realizing work is form, function, motive, color and aesthetics. The method of creation includes the stages of exploration, design and materialization. The materials used are mori primissima and remasol dyes. The techniques used in the creation of works are batiktulis and sewing. The result of this work is a longsleeved shirt that can be used at formal events such as weddings, meetings and other events. There were 3 shirts works and named, they are "Poda na Lima", " Martanggung Jawab ", and "Hatoguan"AbstrakAksara Mandailing merupakan salah satu peninggalan warisan budaya masyarakat Mandailing yang diturunkan oleh nenek moyang berupa tulisan kuno. Aksara Mandailing sebagai ide penciptaan pada kemeja batik merupakan sebuah usaha untuk mengangkat nilai kearifan lokal masyarakat Mandailing. Konsep penciptaan karya ini berangkat dari aksara Mandailing sebagai motif pada kemeja batik. Tulisan aksara diterapkan pada kemeja berupa pengenalan induk surat (ina ni surat) dan anak surat kemudian disusun secara vertikal, horizontal dan zig-zag vertikal berupa kalimat petatah-petitih berupa nasihat yang ada di Mandailing. Landasan teori yang digunakan dalam mewujudkan karya yaitu bentuk, fungsi, motif, warna dan estetis. Metode penciptaan meliputi tahap eksplorasi, perancangan dan perwujudan. Bahan yang digunakan adalah mori primissima dan pewarna remazol. Teknik yang digunakan pada penciptaan karya yaitu batik tulis dan jahit. Bentuk karya berupa kemeja berlengan panjang yang dapat digunakan pada acara formal. Karya yang diciptakan yaitu 3 kemeja dengan judul “Poda na Lima”, “Martanggung Jawab”, dan “Hatoguan”.

Abstract

Makan bajamba adalah budaya asli Minangkabau khususnya di nagari Koto Baru Salo, kabupaten Agam yang sangat patut untuk dilestarikan keberadaannya. Dalam Konsep perwujudan karya bersumber dari budaya makan bajamba menghadirkan visualisasi dari prosesi makan bajamba yang diwujudkan dalam bentuk relief dengan tiga nilai utama yang terkandung di dalam makan bajamba yaitu nilai kebersamaan, nilai etika dan nilai silaturahmi. Proses perancangan, perwujudan serta penerapan karya menggunakan teori bentuk, estetika, dan fungsi. Teknik yang digunakan pada pembuatan karya ini adalah teknik ukir tinggi, dengan menggunakan bahan utama kayu surian. Hasil akhir dari karya ukir kayu berbentuk relief ini bejumlah tujuh karya yang berjudul yaitu Karya I Mahidang, Karya II Pasambahan, Karya III Jamba, Karya IV Adab Makan Bajamba, Karya V Menikmati Jamba, Karya VI Parabuang, Karya VII Makan Parabuang. Dalam setiap karya mengandung nilai dan ilmu pengetahuan tentang kegiatan makan bajamba .
