Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence poverty levels in provinces in Indonesia using panel data regression. This study uses secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The data used includes variables such as provincial poverty rate (TKP), gross regional product per capita (PPK), open unemployment rate (TPT), and average length of schooling (RLS). The results of the analysis show that the fixed effect model is the most appropriate model for this data, as confirmed by the Chow test and the Hausman test. RLS has a negative and significant effect on poverty rates, indicating that increased education correlates with a decrease in poverty. Meanwhile, TPT has a positive but insignificant effect at the 5% level, although it is close to significant at the 10% level. This suggests that increased unemployment tends to increase poverty. PPK has a negative but insignificant effect on poverty levels, reflecting the phenomenon of “growth without justice” where the benefits of growth are not felt equally by all segments of society. This model has a very high level of suitability, with an R-squared value of 0.996810, which means that 99.68% of the variation in poverty levels can be explained by the independent variables

Abstract

Purpose: The impact of democracy on economic growth is an interesting study of economic institutions and there is still debate about the impact on economic growth. One side of the research finds that democracy has a significant and positive impact on economic growth, but the other side states that the improvement of the country's democracy causes economic growth to decline. This study aims to examine the impact of the quality of democracy on economic growth at the provincial level in Indonesia. Research methodology: The data used in this study use panel data using the Eviews 9.0 analysis tool, so that the best method named the Random Effect Model is obtained. Result: The results show that democracy in Indonesia has a significant impact on economic growth and there is a positive trend in the long run. Other variables used are labor and foreign investment, which statistically, if these variables occur, can increase economic growth in Indonesia and increase employment and data on foreign investment play a role in driving economic growth. Economic growth in Indonesia is already in good condition and the economic growth that occurs is convergence growth which shows that some provinces that are poor/underdeveloped can catch up with developed provinces. Limitations: This study uses fairly short time-series data, so that the addition of a longer time-series will of course give better results. Contribution: Improvements in democracy in Indonesia should also strengthen democratic norms that apply in society, such as reducing corrupt behaviors, especially political corruption and money politics to get public office because if this behavior cannot be corrected, then democracy will have little impact on the economy.

Abstract

Abstrak : Objective : ASEAN and the G20 are two international cooperation forums that differ in their institutional structures and scopes of roles, yet both hold significant importance in maintaining economic and political stability. Methodology : ASEAN emphasizes the strengthening of regional integration in Southeast Asia through consensus-based decision-making mechanisms and the principle of non-intervention, whereas the G20 serves as a platform for global economic coordination without a permanent secretariat. Research results : This study aims to examine the similarities and differences between the two forums, particularly with regard to their formation, operational mechanisms, and contributions to economic stability. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a literature review method. The findings indicate that ASEAN’s effectiveness is largely grounded in normative consistency and the formation of regional identity, while the G20’s performance is strongly influenced by macroeconomic policy coordination and the speed of its response to global crises. This study is expected to contribute to and enrich the literature on multilateral economic governance. Keyword: Asean, G20, Economic Governance, Economic Stability.
