Abstract

Abstract: This research is aimed to find out whether there isa significant influence of using picture series on students?ability of the VIIIgradeof SMP NEGERI 7 PangkalanKuras in the Academic Year 2015/2016 in writing narrative text. This is a pre-experimental research conducted by using a pre-test ? treatment ? post-test design. This research used one group pretest-posttest design.The instrument used in this research was tests (pretest and posttest). The population of this research was 102 of the Eighth Grade Students of SMP Negeri 7 PankalanKurasand the sample of this research is the VIII A of SMP Negeri 7 PangkalanKuras which is total number of students of class is 35 students. The data of this research were collected by giving the writing tests about narrative text (pretest-posttest) to the students. The collected data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The results of data analysis showed the mean score of pretest was 50.71, and the mean score of posttest was 60.57.Based on the data analysis, It can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and the post-test because the t-test observed was higher than t-table. In other words, the alternative hypothesis of this researchwas accepted and null hypothesis was rejected.It also meant that teaching writing by using picture series technique was effectiveto improve students? writing ability especially in narrative text.Keywords : writing ability, picture series, narrative text

Abstract

AbstractThis research is aimed to find out whether there are significant effects of using scrapbook on the students’ motivation and ability in writing. This research designs a quasi-experimental research with non-equivalent control group design. The population of this research was 102 students of Ma Al-Qasimiyah Sorek Satu and the sample of this research is the X A for experiment class and X B for control Class. The data of this research were collected by giving the writing tests and questionnaire to the students. The results of data analysis showed: scrapbook is effective to motivated student on learning process and teaches writing, since motivation in learning English for student’s has improvement. The result of student’s writing test can be seen from the result of the t-test mean on experiment class is 2050. The probability of (Sig.) was 0.001 is smaller than 0.005 which shows a strong correlation of Scrapbook for the students’ writing ability in recount text. Then, the result of the t-test mean on control class is 6.33 and the probability of (Sig.) was 0.0023. From the result of calculation of effect size for paired sample t-test, the value of eta square is 0.59 is included in ‘Moderate Effect’ (0.51 – 1.00). It can be concluded that the implementation of scrapbook has beneficial effects. The research questions are answered that scrapbook is effective in teaching writing and giving a good effects for students’ motivation.   Key words: Scrapbook, student’ motivation, student’ writing ability

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Rally Table strategy in improving students’ English writing skills at the junior high school level. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test non-equivalent control group design. The participants consisted of eighth-grade students from MTsS Al-Qosimiyah Sorek Satu, divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received writing instruction using the Rally Table strategy, a cooperative learning technique where students take turns contributing to a written task collaboratively. In contrast, the control group received conventional teaching methods. Data were collected through writing tests and analyzed using statistical methods to determine the significance of the improvement. The results indicated that students in the experimental group showed a significantly higher improvement in writing performance compared to those in the control group. These findings suggest that the Rally Table strategy can effectively enhance students’ ability to generate ideas, organize content, and use grammar and vocabulary appropriately in writing. It is recommended that English teachers integrate cooperative learning strategies such as Rally Table into their writing instruction to foster active participation and improve writing outcomes.

Abstract

Penelitian deskriptif ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan gaya belajar dengan motivasi belajar siswa. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X MA AL-QASIMIYAH tahun pelajaran 2019–2020. Sample random sampling digunakan oleh peneliti dalam penelitian ini untuk memilih sampel. Untuk mengumpulkan data penulis menggunakan kuesioner. Dari analisis data, hipotesis yang dianalisis dengan regresi berganda menunjukkan bahwa variabel X terhadap Y tidak linier dengan nilai sig 0,184 > 0,05, artinya tidak ada hubungan antara gaya belajar terhadap motivasi belajar siswa. Berdasarkan hasil masing-masing gaya menunjukkan bahwa siswa lebih menyukai gaya belajar kelompok, hal ini dibuktikan dengan skor rata-rata 37 pada preferensi gaya belajar minor.

Abstract

This study compared and examined the effects of vocabulary self-collection strategies and semantic mapping strategies on first-grade students at SMK N 1 Pangkalan Kerinci's reading comprehension skills. All of the SMK N 1 Pangkalan Kerinci first-year students made up the research's population. Two classes were picked for cluster random sampling: X1 Networking Computer Technique (28 students) served as experimental group 1 and X Accounting Major (28 students) served as experimental group 2. Using SPSS 21 version, the paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test formulas were applied to the data analysis. The results of the data analysis demonstrate that students' reading comprehension of narrative texts is significantly improved when they use vocabulary self-collection. With df 27 in significance levels of 5% and 1%, To is -6,669 more than Tt (2.06<-6,669>2, 79). Moreover, it is evident that the probability, or Sig. (2-tailed), is 0.000 less than 0.05 (0.000<0.05). Next, employing the Semantic Mapping Strategy has a noteworthy impact on an experimental group of students' reading comprehension of narrative texts. 2. With df 27 in significance levels of 5% and 1%, to is -10,708, which is more than tt (2.06<-10,708>2,79). Moreover, it is evident that the probability, or Sig. (2-tailed), is 0.000 less than 0.05 (0.000<0.05). That indicates that Ha is accepted and Ho is denied. The students in experimental group 2 can enhance their reading comprehension in narrative texts by 29,1%, according to the percentage of significant effect between the pre-test and post-test of the experimental class, as determined by checking for the effect size or eta-squared. Thus, it can be said that using the Semantic Map approach is superior to the Vocabulary Self-collection approach. Keyword: Reading comprehension, vocabulary self Collection, semantic mapping

Abstract

This research is motivated by the demand for every teacher to display high performance in the teaching and learning process. Teachers are said to have high performance if the learning objectives achieved are in accordance with predetermined standards. One factor that can improve teacher performance is by participating in subject teacher deliberation activities, which are forums for teachers in certain subject areas to deliberate, exchange ideas and information so as to find appropriate learning alternatives to improve the quality of learning and in order to improve teacher performance. The problem formulation in this research is: a) What are the teacher's activities in participating in Subject Teacher Conference activities? b) How is the performance of teachers in the field of religious studies at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Pekanbaru? The research sample was nine teachers in the field of religious studies. The technique used in collecting data for both variables is through observation and documentation. After the data was collected, it was then analyzed descriptively qualitatively with percentages to determine the activities taking part in subject teacher deliberation activities and the performance of teachers in the field of religious studies. Meanwhile, to determine whether there is a relationship between the two variables, the data was analyzed statistically using the product moment correlation technique. Then the data is processed using computer equipment via the SPSS 16.0 for Windows program. Based on data analysis, the following results were obtained: 1) Teacher activity in participating in subject teacher deliberations was relatively high with a percentage of 78.02%. 2) The performance of teachers in the field of religious studies is relatively high with a percentage of 78.84%. The results of the correlation analysis of the two variables obtained rxy = 0.642. From the results of the correlation analysis, it can be seen that the relationship between the two variables is in the medium category. Conclusion of hypothesis testing rxy = 0.642 &gt; 0.381 (5%) and 0.487 (1%). Thus Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected.
