Abstract

The design of an ergonomic working system in the company of either manufacturing or service requires ergonomic methods in its application to help people adjust the work system with psychological and physiological factors, the goal is to avoid illness or accidents due to work and can increase comfort and work productivity. SME Know Sendang is one of the small-scale manufacturing companies engaged in the production of tofu products that experienced problems in the production process associated with high rates of work-related pain, especially spinal complaints experienced by employees on the production floor. The study started by measuring the level of potential work-related illness using the Neat Entire Body Assesment (REBA) method and the result of 3 high-risk action actions of 94% of potential workers could experience back pain due to traditional and non-ergonomic work positions especially on the process move the know to the printout. Work station improvements are designed using the Ergonomic Function Deployment (EFD) method to obtain ergonomic and ergonomic seating designs using anthropometric measurements of human working positions. The anthropometry calculation results show that the height of the ergonomic seating height is 105 cm, the length of the printed table is 1500 cm, the height of the printed table is 53 cm using the high anthropometric dimension of the knee and the height of the 65 cm valve using the height of the sitting elbow. The calculation validation was performed by calculating the final REBA value and obtained the value of action 1 with the low potency level and the potential backbone pain decreased to 20%.

Abstract

This research was conducted at PT X which experienced non-achievement of production targets during the period November 2023 to February 2024. The purpose of the research is to identify the root causes of target non-achievement and design solutions. The method used is Root Cause Analysis (RCA) with Fishbone Diagram and 5 Whys Analysis tools, to evaluate the causes of various aspects of production. The data analyzed included production data and machine breakdown data during the period. The analysis found 15 root causes originating from four main aspects, namely machines, people, methods, and materials. The machine factor was the dominant cause with a contribution of 40%. To formulate a solution, the TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) approach was used, which offers a systematic and innovative way. TRIZ derives 14 principles that emphasize the importance of adaptive and predictive systems to prevent errors in the first place, rather than adding resources. The integration of RCA and TRIZ proved effective in generating comprehensive solutions to complex production problems.

Abstract

This study designs ergonomic school chairs for children with autism, addressing their unique physical and sensory needs often neglected in schools. Conducted at SLB Yayasan Autisma Semarang, the research involved teachers and parents to identify user requirements, supported by students’ anthropometric data. The rational method guided the design, using the 5th, 50th, and 95th percentiles to ensure fit. The chair emphasizes comfort, safety, and sensory-friendly features through soft, heat-resistant materials, a safety belt, rounded edges, and a stable structure. Calm colors-gray, light blue, and pastel green-were chosen to reduce sensory overload. This inclusive design supports proper posture and comfort during learning.

Abstract

A safe and comfortable work environment plays a crucial role in maintaining employee health and productivity, especially in the textile industry, which is characterized by repetitive and physically demanding tasks. This study aims to identify the Critical Control Points (CCPs) of physical environmental factors—namely temperature, lighting, and noise—and analyze their effects on work-related stress. The research employed direct measurements of environmental conditions and distributed questionnaires to 68 respondents selected through random sampling. Data adequacy tests confirmed that the sample size was representative. CCP analysis revealed that temperature and noise levels in several work areas, particularly in the Extruder and Dryer sections, exceeded regulatory thresholds and were thus classified as critical control points. In contrast, lighting levels remained within acceptable limits. ANOVA testing produced a significance value of 0.000 and an F-value of 13.181, indicating a significant influence of physical environmental factors on work stress. Therefore, it can be concluded that controlling temperature and noise is essential to reducing stress risks, improving workplace comfort, and supporting worker productivity in the textile industry.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the role of middlemen in the distribution of agricultural products in Curahdami Village, Bondowoso Regency, and explores the application of Islamic business ethics in their practices. The findings of the study suggest that middlemen play an important role in facilitating market access for farmers, although their business practices are often characterized by price injustice and manipulation of product quality. This study uses a qualitative approach, by recommending several measures to improve justice and sustainability in the practice of squatting, including ethical education for farmers and middlemen, the establishment of agrarian cooperatives to strengthen farmers' bargaining power, local regulations to prevent exploitative practices, and the strengthening of social capital through community forums. These measures are expected to create a fairer distribution system and improve the welfare of farmers in the long run.
