Abstract

This study analyzes the actualization of environmental hadith in the success of the Cirebon climate city program through mitigation and adaptation efforts due to climate change. Religion plays a vital role in mitigation and adaptation efforts due to climate change, however, it is often overlooked. The research problem in this study is how environmental hadith is actualized to make the Cirebon climate city program successful through mitigation and adaptation efforts due to climate change. This research uses qualitative methods. The unit of analysis is the community that actualizes environmental hadith in the success of the Cirebon climate city program. Informants were selected using purposive techniques such as clerics, students, environmental activists, Proklim residents, and the government. Data were collected using observation, interview, and documentation techniques. Data sources are primary and secondary. Data analysis is processed using triangulation techniques. The results showed that environmental hadiths were actualized in the success of the Cirebon climate city program. The actualization of environmental hadith is manifested in various social movements based on environmental justice carried out by both the government and the community, such as the climate village program (proklim) which is spread across various locations in the city of Cirebon. Institutions/organizations as well as religious actors/agents are inspired and motivated to carry out social movements due to hadiths about the environment. This study concludes that the environmental crisis in Cirebon City forces all elements of society and the government to mitigate and adapt to climate change. One of the mitigation and adaptation efforts due to climate change in Cirebon City is the climate village program (Proklim) in 15 different locations. Hadith has a very important influence on the implementation of the Cirebon City climate village program (Proklim) in efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change.

Abstract

Indonesia sedang menghadapi fenomena penuaan penduduk yang ditandai dengan meningkatnya jumlah lanjut usia (lansia), termasuk di wilayah Jawa Barat khususnya Desa Matangaji, Kecamatan Sumber, Kabupaten Cirebon. Desa Matangaji, Kecamatan Sumber, Kabupaten Cirebon mencatat sebanyak 517 jiwa lanjut usia (lansia) pada tahun 2023, yang menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam populasi lansia. Kenaikan jumlah tersebut berdampak pada munculnya berbagai permasalahan, seperti penurunan kondisi fisik, gangguan kesehatan kronis, serta keterbatasan dalam beraktivitas sosial. Minimnya peran serta keluarga dalam mendampingi lansia dan terbatasnya akses terhadap layanan kesehatan turut memperburuk kondisi mereka. Sebagai respons, Pemerintah Desa Matangaji bersama Ikatan Ramah Lansia (IRL) menginisiasi Program Sekolah Lansia Flamboyan untuk memberdayakan lansia agar hidup mandiri, sehat, dan aktif. Penelitian ini memakai pendekatan kualitatif metode fenomenologi dengan informan lima pengelola dan enam lansia. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, lalu dianalisis secara tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan program ini berjalan melalui tiga tahap: pembentukan, persiapan, dan pelaksanaan. Terdapat faktor pendukung dan penghambat, namun program berhasil membentuk kemandirian lansia dalam empat dimensi: fisik, intelektual, emosional, dan sosial. Program ini terbukti efektif sebagai intervensi komunitas dan berpotensi diterapkan di wilayah lain dengan tantangan serupa yaitu dalam hal permasalahan penuaan penduduk.

Abstract

Abstract: Purpose – This study analyzes the synthesis of creative economy and religious moderation through a community-based waste management program in Matangaji Village, Cirebon. Employing a bio-anthropological framework, this research investigates how the practical activity of waste management functions as a fulcrum for community empowerment. The primary purpose is to dissect the process of transforming waste into valuable products and to understand how this collective economic endeavor becomes a practical venue for internalizing the values of religious moderation. Design/methods/approach – This research utilizes a qualitative method with a case study design. Data were gathered through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). Findings - The findings reveal that the program not only generates supplementary income through creative recycling but also establishes a social space where values such as cooperation (ta'awun), mutual respect (tasamuh), and environmental stewardship (hifzhu al-bi’ah) are actively practiced. The discussion argues that the tangible economic goal serves as a leverage point that necessitates and reinforces moderate social behaviors. Research Implications - This bio-anthropological analysis concludes that interventions in the physical-biological environment (waste management) are intrinsically linked to the fortification of socio-religious values (anthropological), positioning the program as an effective, replicable model for applied moderation.

Abstract

This paper discusses the sociology of Max Weber's Interpretive in the sanad 'Ālīy and Nāzil of the hadiths contained in the book Al-Ażkār by Imām an-Nawāwῑ. This study employs a literature review approach by analyzing relevant primary and secondary sources. The findings indicate that Max Weber’s sociology of Interpretive encompasses four key dimensions: types of social action, value and goal rationality, verstehen, and authority. This type of social action appears when Imām an-Nawāwῑ only lists the names of companions in the hadith sanad. The rationality of the value and approach of Weber's verstehen can be seen in the hadith sanad, which is summarized for the purpose of understanding and beliefs of the reader. The results of takhrij show that the first hadith narrated by Muslims has a sahih sanad and matan that corroborates QS. Al-An'ām (6:160). The second hadith narrated by at-Tirmidhi has sanad and matan daif. The third hadith narrated by Abu Daud is authentic and its matin corroborates QS. Al-Jumu'ah (62:9). The fourth hadith narrated by Abu Daud is sanad and his matan is daif, while the fifth hadith narrated by Abu Daud has sanad hasan sahih and matan that corroborates QS. Al-Ahzāb (33:56). The five hadiths show that Imām an-Nawāwῑ has a strong rationalization of religious interpretation. He understood the quality of the rawi through jarh wa ta'dil, so it is clear that religious interpretation is not only derived from revelation, but is also shaped by the structure and social dynamics of society. Abstrak Tulisan ini membahas sosiologi interpretatif Max Weber dalam sanad ‘Ālīy dan Nāzil hadis-hadis yang terdapat dalam kitab Al-Ażkār karya Imām an-Nawāwῑ. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kepustakaan dengan menelaah sumber-sumber primer dan sekunder yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa analisis sosiologi interpretatif Max Weber mencakup empat aspek utama, yaitu tipe tindakan sosial, rasionalitas nilai/tujuan, verstehen, serta otoritas. Tipe tindakan sosial tampak ketika Imām an-Nawāwῑ hanya mencantumkan nama sahabat dalam sanad hadis. Rasionalitas nilai dan pendekatan verstehen Weber terlihat pada sanad hadis yang diringkas untuk tujuan pemahaman dan keyakinan pembaca. Hasil takhrij menunjukkan bahwa hadis pertama riwayat Muslim memiliki sanad sahih dan matan yang menguatkan QS. Al-An‘ām ayat 160. Hadis kedua riwayat at-Tirmidzi memiliki sanad dan matan daif. Hadis ketiga riwayat Abu Daud sanadnya sahih dan matannya menguatkan QS. Al-Jumu‘ah ayat 9. Hadis keempat riwayat Abu Daud sanad dan matannya daif, sedangkan hadis kelima riwayat Abu Daud memiliki sanad hasan sahih dan matan yang menguatkan QS. Al-Ahzāb ayat 56. Kelima hadis tersebut menunjukkan bahwa Imām an-Nawāwῑ memiliki rasionalisasi interpretatif agama yang kuat. Ia memahami kualitas para rawi melalui jarh wa ta‘dil, sehingga terlihat jelas bahwa interpretasi agama tidak hanya bersumber dari wahyu, tetapi juga dibentuk oleh struktur dan dinamika sosial masyarakat.
