Abstract

Health is one of the sectors that has rapidly advanced through the application of information and communication technology (ICT) under the concept of e-Health. Nutrition services at the Teaching Factory Nutrition Care Center (TeFa NCC) are still conducted manually, requiring technological innovations to enhance efficiency and accessibility. This community service aims to digitalize nutrition services to facilitate public access to information and support staff operations more effectively. The method involves a participatory approach with three main steps: application development, socialization, and monitoring and evaluation to improve the quality of nutrition services and user satisfaction. The development of the Android-based E-Stagi application has proven successful in increasing service efficiency, with 34% of users finding the application very easy to operate. Monitoring results also indicate that the application simplifies data management for staff and provides easier access to nutrition information for the public compared to traditional methods. Despite technical challenges and user unfamiliarity, further training and application updates are necessary to optimize its utilization.

Abstract

Stunting is a nutritional status determined by the PB/U or TB/U index. These measurements fall within the threshold (Z-Score) <-2 SD to -3 SD (short/stunted) and <-3 SD (highly short). Per the 2024 target established by the president, the frequency of stunting can be reduced to 14%. It has been demonstrated that there are still dietary disorders, particularly in the vulnerable age group, namely toddlers in Kemuning Lor Village. In 2018, there were still 33 toddlers with nutritional status disorders, including 24 toddlers (19.7%) with overnutrition, 5 toddlers (4.1%) with undernutrition, and 4 toddlers (3.2%) with malnutrition. Smart Systems is a subfield of Computer Science that focuses on developing competent methods inspired by natural events to address various complicated problems in the real world, including the health realm; early detection of stunting. This study aimed to develop an early detection method for nutritional status and stunting based on anthropometric standards in toddlers in Kemuning Lor Village, which is anticipated to aid cadres or the community in overcoming nutritional status and stunting in toddlers.

Abstract

Nutritional status in toddlers is one of the indicators used to describe the quality of toddler health. Toddlers’ nutritional status is interpreted based on some indices, namely weight for age, length/height for age, and weight for length/height Z-score. The nutritional status of toddlers is affected by various factors, both maternal and child factors. Anaemia and chronic energy deficiency during pregnancy affect a toddler’s nutrition status. Birth weight, exclusive breastfeeding, and complementary food may result in a toddler’s nutrition status as well. This study aims to compare the mother’s and toddler’s characteristics based on the nutritional status of the toddler. This was an observational analytical cross-sectional study. All data for the analysis of this paper were obtained from observations of the toddlers, interviews with mothers, and recorded data from KIA book. Toddlers’ weight and length/height were measured when the subject came to Posyandu. Questions about exclusive breastfeeding and complementary food were asked of mothers. Information about anaemia and chronic energy deficiency status was obtained from KIA book. This study used chi-square test to finds evidence that, on 88 subjects, there is no difference in anaemia and chronic energy deficiency during pregnancy, birth weight, exclusive breastfeeding, and complementary food among all nutritional status indices.

Abstract

Currently, Indonesia is facing serious Multiple Nutritional Problems (MGG) with 30.8% stunting and 35.4% obesity rates. The Healthy Growth Card (KMS) serves as an instrument for growth monitoring, particularly related to nutritional status. Growth disturbances, such as malnutrition due to both nutritional deficiencies and excesses, can be detected early by plotting weight on the KMS. Websites are a form of internet marketing and an effective part of digital marketing for disseminating information and promoting products. This research aims to create a prototype for digital marketing electronic Growth Chart (e-KMS). The research employs the software system development method using the Prototype model. The prototype is designed using UML (Unified Modeling Language) and case tools. The digital marketing prototype is a website-based platform with capabilities for promoting and registering online at the Polytechnic Institute of Jember (Polije) Daycare, as well as serving as a Communication Information and Education (CIE) medium for assessing and monitoring the nutritional status of children in the form of e-KMS. Program coding is needed to make the prototype usable as a digital marketing tool for e-KMS, enabling the monitoring of children's growth to be implemented in childcare institutions.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) remains a significant public health challenge in Indonesia, with rising prevalence and limited access to personalized nutritional care. The Nutrition Care Centre (NCC) at Jember State Polytechnic offers diet consultation and education services but faces constraints in human resources and client reach, with only 23% of visitation targets met since 2021. To address this gap, this study aims to develop VANESA, a virtual assistant powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and QR code technology to provide accessible, efficient, and contextual education and consultation services for DM patients. The system integrates rule-based and AI-based chatbot functionalities to deliver natural language responses regarding DM management, including dietary guidance, physical activity, and basic treatment advice. It also facilitates telehealth consultations, automated registration via QR code, and seamless integration with the existing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Developed using the Waterfall model of SDLC, VANESA is designed to enhance service accessibility, reduce operational costs, and support continuous monitoring of patient nutritional status. Expected outcomes include a web-based admin system, an AI-driven Q&A chatbot, telehealth features, QR-based registration, and an analytics dashboard. This innovation not only supports the Teaching Factory NCC but also serves as a scalable model for digital health interventions in resource-limited settings. Thus, VANESA is a digital health solution that has a direct and applicable impact, is able to increase service efficiency, expand the reach of nutritional interventions, and can be replicated and scaled sustainably in various health facilities, especially in areas with limited resources.
