Abstract

Long-term, intense sun exposure can cause erythema and sunburn, as well as premature aging and skin cancer. For generations, the people of the Banjar tribe of Borneo have applied a wet paste of Sonneratia caseolaris leaves mixture on the skin when undertaking tasks in the hot sun. The Sonneratia caseolaris tree is a mangrove plant that grows on river banks throughout the Borneo Island. The study aims to formulate Sonneratia caseolaris leaves ethanol extract into a stable lotion and test its efficacy as a sunscreen. Sonneratia caseolaris leaves were macerate with 70% ethanol, and the sunscreen activity of the extract was examined in vitro with a UV-visible spectrophotometer, and then formulated into a lotion dosage form. Organoleptic and homogeneity observations, pH measurements, viscosity measurements, and spreadability measurements were all performed on the lotion. Following that, the lotion sunscreen activity of was tested in vitro. The Sonneratia caseolaris extract sunscreen lotion has met the requirements of organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, and spreadability tests. Sunscreen lotion with 2.5% Sonnerata caseolaris extract classified as standard suntan. Sonneratia caseolaris extract of Borneo has the potential to develop as a raw material for herbal cosmetics. Abstract

The community service activity entitled “Empowering the Community Through Education and Training in Kombucha Production as a Beverage that Boosts Immunity and Digestion” aims to improve the knowledge and skills of residents of Tani Aman Village RT 23 in processing kombucha as a fermented beverage that is beneficial to health. Kombucha is known to contain antioxidants, probiotics, and bioactive compounds that are good for immune system strength and digestion. Unfortunately, its utilization remains low due to a lack of information and technical skills among the community. This initiative was carried out through interactive education and training workshops, which not only provided theoretical knowledge but also hands-on practice. The results demonstrated an increase in residents' understanding and interest in making kombucha independently. In addition to its positive impact on health, this activity also served as a valuable experience in fostering relationships and collaboration between the implementing team and the community

Abstract

Kulit merupakan bagian dari tubuh yang melindungi bagian dalam tubuh dari gangguan fisik maupun mekanik, gangguan panas atau dingin, gangguan sinar radiasi atau sinar ultraviolet dan gangguan kuman. Hal tersebut memicu kebutuhan akan perlindungan kulit dengan menggunakan kosmetika seperti sabun. Salah satu bahan alami yang memiliki potensi sebagai antibakteri adalah umbi bawang Tiwai. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memformulasi ekstrak etanol umbi bawang Tiwai (Eleutherine bulbosa (Mill.) Urb.) menjadi sabun mandi padat yang memenuhi persyaratan SNI 06-3532-1994. Uji mutu sediaan sabun mandi padat yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini adalah uji organoleptik, pH, kadar air, dan asam lemak bebas. Uji dilakukan pada hari ke-1, ke-7 dan ke-14 untuk mengetahui perbedaan mutu selama waktu penyimpanan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sediaan sabun padat dari ekstrak etanol umbi bawang Tiwai (Eleutherine bulbosa (Mill.) Urb.) dengan variasi minyak zaitun, minyak kelapa dan minyak sawit dapat diformulasikan menjadi sabun mandi padat yang memenuhi persyaratan SNI 06-3532-1994. Kata kunci: antibakteri, Eleutherine bulbosa (Mill.)
