Abstract

Menopausal hypoestrogens cause both physical and psychological complaints. One of the therapies to overcome menopausal complaints is the administration of estrogen hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Peer educator candidates are declared to have passed (from post test scores) and inducted as Peer Educators. Peer Educator passed on knowledge to 30 volunteers (ratio of 1 Peer educator 3 volunteers) and formed Menopause GR home community (own branding) and whatapp group. The knowledge of Peer educator candidates prior to receiving the training was found that half of them had less knowledge about the benefits of cowpea for menopause health, most of them had less knowledge about cowpea buns and half had less knowledge about cowpea milk. After being given Peer Educator training, all of them have good knowledge about the benefits of cowpea for menopausal health; almost all have good knowledge about cowpea dumplings and cowpea milk. Peer Educator passed on knowledge from facilitators to volunteers and the results were obtained. Almost all of them had less knowledge about the benefits of cowpea for menopausal health; most have less knowledge about cowpea dumplings; Almost half had less knowledge about cowpea milk. After being given counseling, almost all volunteers have good knowledge about the benefits of cowpea for menopause health; most have good knowledge about cowpea bakpou and cowpea milk. There is an effect of Peer Educator training on the benefits of cowpeas for menopause health and the manufacture of cowpea dumplings and cowpea milk on menopause knowledge. The results of the Wilcoxon signed ranks test with = 0.05 obtained a p value of 0.025 which is smaller than = 0.05 which means Ha is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is an effect of Peer Educator training on the benefits of cowpea (Vigna Unguiculata) for menopause health on menopause knowledge

Abstract

Breast cancer is not detected early because of the behavior of people who have never carried out BSE as much as 53.7%. This is due to the fact that respondents did not show significant interest in obtaining information about BSE steps and breast cancer. One of the primary preventions is by conducting a demonstration of BSE. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of demonstration on cadres' skills in breast self-examination. The research design is pre-experiment with one group design, pretest, posttest design without control group. The results showed that almost all cadres (82.9%) had incompetent skills before the SADARI demonstration and after the SADARI demonstration all cadres had competent skills. It is hoped that cadres will be able to carry out BSE demonstrations and breast cancer early detection screening to the public.

Abstract

Hormone Replacement Therapy estrogen therapy for a long time increases the risk of breast cancer and uterine cancer. It is necessary to find another alternative as a substitute for HRT, namely Cowpea Vigna unguiculata which is considered to be able to increase the proliferation of cervical maturation epithelial thickening epithelium. The design of this study is a true experimental design because there is a treatment, control group and randomization with the type of post test only control group. where testing was performed after the intervention. The intervention carried out was female Wistar strain rats that met the criteria for ovarectomy. There were 3 treatment groups: control rats without treatment, rats were treated with cowpea extract 5 mg KgBW and treated beta estradiol 5g kgBW . This study wanted to determine the effect of cowpea extract Vigna unguiculata on the proliferation of cervical epithelial maturation epithelial thickening in hypoestrogen rats. The research place is the Pharmacology, Physiology and Anatomical Pathology Laboratory, Faculty of Medicine, Brawijaya University, Malang. Research Time The research was carried out for 4 months starting from August 2021 to November 2021. The results of the study using Oneway Anova obtained P Value 0.00 less than Alpha 0.05 so there are differences Treatment outcomes were significantly between groups. Tests of LSD and Mean Plots concluded that cowpea extract 5 mg KgBW gave the most significant difference to the proliferation of maturation epithelium epithelial thickening of cervical cells.

Abstract

School Medical Room (UKS) have an important role in instilling healthy living behavior and improving students' health through the implementation of the "Trias UKS" model, which includes Health Education, Health Services, and Healthy School Environment Development. As an effort to improve the quality of UKS implementation, schools are encouraged to achieve stratification standards ranging from minimal to optimal levels. However, the establishment of School Health Efforts (UKS) faces various challenges that can hinder its optimal implementation. These challenges include limited resources, both in terms of funding, facilities, and trained health workers. Suboptimal coordination between schools, health offices, and communities is also an obstacle to the alignment of sustainable health programs. However, if these challenges can be overcome, UKS has the potential to provide a significant long-term impact on the health of students and the school community. Increasing health awareness from an early age can form healthy living habits that are carried into adulthood. Realizing the importance of the existence of UKS in schools and the desire to form adolescents who are aware of health, the Poltekkes Kemenkes Malang initiated a community service program to establish UKS facilities at MTS and MAS Al-Fatah, Malang Regency, which previously did not have such facilities. This community service activity was carried out on August 10, 2024, involving training for representatives of local governments, health centers, teachers, and students, with a focus on the formation and management of UKS. The methods used included lectures, discussions, and interactive Q&A sessions guided by the committee. The main results of this activity were the formation of the UKS committee, the signing of an integrity pact, and the provision of essential medical equipment for UKS. Pre- and post-tests showed a significant increase in participant knowledge, with post-test scores reflecting a 50% increase in understanding. This program aims to empower school communities to manage health services independently and become a model for similar programs in other areas. The success of this initiative at MTS and MAS Al-Fatah is expected to inspire the development of UKS in other schools in Malang Regency. Keywords: Formation of UKS, UKS knowledge, UKS Al-Fatah Turen.

Abstract

Breast milk production is a critical concern for postpartum mothers, as inadequate milk supply can lead to the failure of exclusive breastfeeding. This may result in insufficient infant nutrition, while mothers may experience mastitis due to blocked milk ducts. One factor influencing milk production is stress. Maternal stress and anxiety can disrupt lactation by inhibiting milk ejection. This study aims to examine the correlation between stress levels and breast milk production among postpartum mothers at PMB Soemidjah Ipung Malang.  The research employed a correlational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach, involving a population of 31 postpartum mothers who met the inclusion criteria. Total sampling was used, with all 31 respondents included as the sample. Data were collected using standardized questionnaires: the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) and a breast milk production questionnaire. Statistical analysis was conducted using Spearman’s test with a confidence level of ≤ 0.05. The results showed p-values of 0.01 for the relationship between stress levels and milk production (maternal factors) and 0.005 (infant factors), with correlation coefficients of 0.456 and 0.489, indicating a moderate association.  The study rejects the null hypothesis (H0), confirming a significant relationship between stress levels and breast milk production. These findings highlight the importance of addressing excessive stress in postpartum mothers to ensure optimal lactation. Healthcare providers should consider stress management strategies to support breastfeeding success.

Abstract

Symptoms of nausea and vomiting (emesis gravidarum) are common complaints in the early trimester. However, if it continues without treatment, this condition can develop into hyperemesis gravidarum which risks causing nutritional deficiencies in the mother and inhibiting fetal growth. (Intraupterine Growth Retardation /IUGR). Treatment can be done non-pharmacologically with acupressure. Neiguan point (pericardium 6) is considered useful to reduce nausea and vomiting. This study aims to determine the effect of self-acupressure therapy pericardium 6 by pregnant women on Nausea and Vomiting of Pregnancy (NVP). The research design used a pre-experiment with a one group pretest-posttest design without control group. The sampling technique used simple random sampling with a sample of 38 pregnant women Trimester I K1 who experienced nausea and vomiting, no history of gastritis. Data collection using the Pregnancy-Unique Quantification of Emesis and Nausea (PUQE-24) observation sheet The results of statistical tests using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed the p value was (0.000). The research hypothesis proposed is an alternative hypothesis, where Ha = p < 0.05, meaning that there is an effect of self-acupressure therapy pericardium 6 (PC 6) by pregnant women on Nausea and Vomiting of Preganancy (NVP) at TPMB Yulis Indriana Malang City. Pericardium 6 acupressure is considered effective and safe for pregnant women.
