Abstract

Jurnatan area is a trading and office hub in Semarang City which was built in the 1970s. Furthermore, the area is directly adjacent to Semarang’s premier cultural heritage area, namely Kota Lama. Since the economic center shifted to the Simpang Lima area in the 1980s, Jurnatan area lost its chief appeal, and was gradually abandoned. This heavily impacted the area, resulting in abandoned complexes, declining trade, and its current status as a ‘no man’s land’. This study aims to find design concepts to revitalize the area, and revitalize its function as an area which supports the area of Kota Lama Semarang, in its ambition to become a World Heritage site. The area planning forwards the concept of walkability, which puts pedestrian needs ahead of vehicles. Besides being an important part of the Semarang City Government’s plan to revitalize the Kota Lama, this concept is suitable for reducing the density of vehicles both in the cultural heritage area and the transition area of  shopping complex.

Abstract

Abstract: This research is based on a new design on the pedestrian ways on MT. Haryono Street corridor of the Peterongan-Bangkong intersection, because the Semarang City Government made several changes to the pedestrian lane design in several locations, one of which was on MT. Haryono Street. Through this new pedestrian ways design, researchers will associate with mixed areas or mixed-use areas in the corridor that will be examined based on factors and indicators of the mixed area and pedestrian ways design. The purpose of this study is to determine the utilization of pedestrian ways in the mixed-use area which gets the highest priority based on pedestrian path users. Field data and interview results on pedestrian path users obtained were then analyzed using a qualitative deductive method combined with quantitative through sampling with purposive sampling. And it was concluded that the highest utilization of the new design of pedestrian ways in the MT Haryono Street is a function and activity.Keyword: Pedestrian ways’ utilization, mixed-use area, MT. Abstract

Abstract

The function of the Alun-alun as a public space was originally to accommodate state ceremonial activities and religious rituals. Slowly the function of the Alun-alun also changed according to the times. This diverse function of the Alun-alun also still applies in Alun-alun Kauman and becomes more complex with the addition of other functions due to the dynamics of development that occur. The current function of Alun-alun Kauman is to accommodate three main activities, namely sports activities, recreational activities, and religious ritual activities, which are supported by trading activities. This research aims to find the activity order of Alun-alun Kauman users in the new design. The method used was a quantitative approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through field observations in a full day for one week. The time span of a day was broken down into 2-hour intervals. This is based on the consideration that the average visitor activity time ranges from 1 to 2 hours. Data quantification and analysis are based on observations of visitor activity settings. Digitization is an effort to utilize applications or software used as research aids, by translating quantitative data into graphics. Through the digitization picture, the data of visitor activity order can be seen quickly, easily, and accurately. It was found that the Alun-alun as a public space has a function that is still in demand by local residents to conduct activities.

Abstract

In order to advance Semarang City, the Semarang City Government consistently strives to realize branding with the concept of a smart city. The most visible effort to implement smart cities is through electronic parking. The implementation of the smart city concept using electronic parking in Semarang City, one of which is located in the MT Haryono Street corridor. The purpose of this study is to find out the effective level of electronic parking as the application of smart city in Semarang City studied in the ERG theory of basic needs by Clayton Alderfer. The method used is a qualitative descriptive research approach through the need for the use of electronic parking, while data collection techniques through field observation, interviews, and documentation on location objects located in the MT Haryono Street Semarang City. The result of this study is that electronic parking in the MT Haryono corridor is not effective and is not the main factor in basic needs for Semarang residents. Semarang residents do not know much about the existence and feel the benefits of electronic parking. The government needs to socialize with residents about the existence and use of electronic parking.

Abstract

In constructing high-rise buildings such as Gedung Kuliah Bersama 2 Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang, the right planning and design stages are very important requirements in the process. The utility system of a building is a series of complementary things that must be planned from the beginning before the building operates. Utility systems are part of a building's success in meeting or accommodating the needs of its users. Utilities learn a lot about the effectiveness of space division in-room programming, access, property details, and other things that support the function of a building. This research is based on a field survey that focuses on the type of sanitation, drainage, and piping system (SDP) in building utilities. This study aims to analyze the performance of buildings in high-rise buildings in the education sector, namely the Gedung Kuliah Bersama 2. The utility system in the Gedung Kuliah Bersama 2 has met SNI (Indonesian National Standard) standards with a fully used connected system along with the distribution of power and capacity in the area within the building which is supported by modern and sophisticated equipment to be more effective and efficient in supporting building performance.

Abstract

The park at Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang still does not fully meet the needs of blind people, because it still lacks guiding blocks, as well as the lack of other supporting elements that can hinder their ability to move. Thus, it is necessary to recommend a design solution that can improve access for blind people, especially on the path to the At-Taqwa Mosque. Against this background, this research seeks to design a guiding path for the visually impaired and signage that suits their needs in the green open space leading to the At-Taqwa Mosque. The design will consider the use of guiding blocks and braille signage as direction and information guides. An inclusive design plan is implemented so that all users, including people with other disabilities and the general public, can benefit optimally. The solutions proposed in this research, such as the addition of guiding blocks for navigation and a Braille signage as inclusive information, are designated based on universal design principles in Unimus’ green open space. The implementation of this solution not only supports the needs of the visually impaired but also creates an inclusive, comfortable, and accesible green open space for all campus users.
