Abstract

The exercise of authority and competence by midwives is a critical component in ensuring the quality and safety of healthcare services, particularly in primary midwifery care. This study aims to analyze the legal aspects of the implementation of midwives’ authority and competence by alumni of the Bachelor of Midwifery Program in Buleleng Regency, based on prevailing regulations such as Law No. 4 of 2019 on Midwifery, Minister of Health Regulation No. 28 of 2017, and the Indonesian Midwifery Competency Standards. The research applied a normative and empirical legal approach through document analysis, semi-structured interviews, and field observations. The findings indicate that most alumni have exercised their authority and competence in accordance with regulations; however, challenges remain in the field, such as limited infrastructure, high workload, and insufficient legal awareness. These findings highlight the need to strengthen the health law curriculum in midwifery education, improve practice supervision, and promote continuous dissemination of professional regulations. This study contributes to the development of a legally compliant, safe, and professional midwifery practice governance system.

Abstract

Psychological resilience during pregnancy is crucial for maintaining maternal mental health and influencing overall pregnancy outcomes. Despite its importance, the factors contributing to resilience and the effectiveness of interventions to enhance it are often underexplored. Objective: This study aims to investigate the impact of psychological resilience on pregnant women and assess the effectiveness of resilience-building interventions in improving maternal well-being and coping mechanisms. Method: A quasi-experimental design was employed with a treatment group and a control group, each consisting of Sixty (60) pregnant women selected through purposive sampling. The intervention involved resilience-enhancing workshops and support sessions facilitated online via the Zoom platform. The control group received standard prenatal care without additional interventions. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test, unpaired t-test, chi-square test, and Fisher’s exact test. Results: The three-month intervention significantly improved psychological resilience, as indicated by enhanced coping skills, reduced levels of anxiety and depression, and improved overall maternal well-being. Participants in the intervention group reported better stress management and increased satisfaction with prenatal care compared to the control group. Conclusions: Psychological resilience is a key factor in supporting pregnant women through the challenges of pregnancy. Effective resilience-building interventions can lead to significant improvements in maternal mental health and overall pregnancy outcomes.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the physical, mental, and emotional health of pregnant women through prenatal yoga classes. The method used consists of three stages: First, socialization and education are conducted by providing information on maintaining physical and mental health, as well as managing discomfort during pregnancy and the benefits of prenatal yoga. Second, prenatal yoga classes are conducted regularly with a licensed instructor. This class included physical exercises that are safe for pregnant women, breathing exercises (pranayama), and meditation techniques to help manage stress and anxiety. Third, an evaluation at the end of the program regarding physical, mental, and emotional changes is conducted using a questionnaire. The results showed a significant decrease in physical discomfort levels (t = 6.22, p = 0.0001), indicating that yoga can significantly reduce physical discomfort in pregnant women. Additionally, the duration of yoga (β1 = -0.3, p = 0.0002) and anxiety before yoga (β2 = -0.2, p = 0.015) had a significant effect in reducing physical discomfort after yoga. In contrast, the age of the pregnant women did not show a significant effect on physical discomfort after yoga (β3 = -0.03, p = 0.14). These findings suggest that the duration of yoga and better anxiety management contribute to the reduction of physical discomfort in pregnant women.
