Abstract

Background: The end of 2019, Wuhan experienced an insurgence of coronavirus within two months of this prolong pandemic. Patients with Covid-19 have chance in suffering a serious damage of respiratory system, which then lead to hypoxemia. The harmful of silent hypoxemia is that either the patients are remain untreated or they will not seek any treatment at all, though their blood oxygen levels (SpO2 levels) slowly decrease. Especially those who isolated at home. Pulse oximeter is a mini device that evaluate the level of arterial blood saturation. Purpose: This article gives a short review about the principle, application, advantage, and disadvantage of pulse oximetry in maintaining the Covid-19 patients with hypoxemia. Review: Two basic principles of pulse oximetry that are important: (a) to differentiate the oxyhemoglobin (HbO2 ) and deoxyhemoglobin (HHb), (b) to get the value of SpO2 from arterial compartment blood. How pulse oximeter detects SpO2 is based on the amount of red and IR light absorbed. Pulse oximeter can detect an abnormality of respiratory system in Covid-19 patients that may cannot be detected earlier. Pulse oximeter also helps diagnosing some severe pneumonia cases. It also can be realiable to diagnose an ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndroms) if the devices are found limited (WHO, 2020). Beside the advantages of pulse oximeter, there are some erroneous of readings. Conclusion: Pulse oximeter is a mini device which offers many advantages over its limitations. Limitation of pulse oximeter can be early detected and overcame with an introduction evaluation of clinical conditions of each patients.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a disease caused by chronic metabolic disorders. It’s characterized by high blood glucose levels accompanied by metabolic disorders as a result of insulin dysfunction. Diabetes Mellitus can cause major chronic complications including cardiovascular disease, stroke, retinopathy, and diabetic nephropathy. Chronic complications are one of the causes of death in people with diabetes mellitus. A proper treatment to prevent the complications of diabetes mellitus is education about diabetes mellitus and its risk factor also do an early laboratory test. Based on the explanation above, the purpose of this community service activity is counseling and health examinations including body weight, blood pressure, blood glucose test and cholesterol test. This community service activity was held in Nginden Jangkungan Village, Sukolilo District, Surabaya. This activity includes counseling, health examinations and evaluations. This activity was attended by 37 participants consisting of 29 (78.4%) women and 8 (21.6%) men with an age range of 30 - 83 years and productive age reaching 62.2% of the total participants. Based on the results of the health examination, it was found that more than fifty percent of participants had hypertension with diastole above 60-80 mmHg and more than 90-120 mmHg for systole. The results of the total cholesterol examination showed that 31.4% had cholesterol levels that were included in the border line high risk (200-239 mg/dL) and 8.1% were high risk (239 mg/dL). The results of the normal random blood glucose levels is 78.4%, while participants with high random blood sugar levels were only 4 people or 10.8%. Based on the results of the activity evaluation, it is known that participants already understand a lot about complications of diabetes mellitus with blood pressure and cholesterol as shown by the post-test results, the number participants with correct answers reached above 90%.ABSTRAKDiabetes Melitus merupakan suatu penyakit yang disebabkan oleh gangguan metabolisme kronis yang ditandai tingginya kadar glukosa darah disertai gangguan metabolisme tubuh sebagai akibat kelainan fungsi insulin. Abstract

Penjaringan Sari Flats is a solution implemented by the Surabaya City Government to overcome the limited housing in Surabaya. Due to the high number of residents , Penjaringan Sari Flats have a rapid and spread infectious rate. One of the impacts of infectious diseases that may be experienced by pregnant women and also children under five aged is low birth weight (LBW) babies and stunting. One solution to reduce the number of stunting and LBW that can be done is screening at early conditions of infection in pregnant women and toddler using the urine examination method (urinalysis). In examining a urine sample which is examined using the dipstick method (urinalysis using strips), 11 parameters can be read. Three of the eleven dipstick parameters (nitrite, leukocytes, and protein) were stated to be sufficient to screen a patient's initial infection profile. Participants in this community service activity are residents of Penjaringan Sari flats who are female, pregnant, and/or small children aged up to 5 years. The first stage carried out was the introduction of this program and activity plan to the Head of Penjaringan Sari Subdistrict. Data collection on the number of pregnant women and toddlers in Penjaringan Sari Village using observational methods. Data collection was carried out personally by the Head of Community Service accompanied by local women community. The number of pregnant women is 40 and toddlers are 60 as of August 2023. The results of urine sample examinations from 74 patients from residents of Penjaringan Sari Subdistrict are divided into two different categories: pregnant women and toddlers. In the category of pregnant women, around 90% of patients had positive leukocyte results, 60% had proteinuria, and 10% showed positive urine nitrite. In the second group, namely toddlers, the results showed that around 58.13% showed positive leukocytes, around 16.27% experienced proteinuria, and 4.65% of toddler patients had positive nitrite values.
