Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is a viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes that has spread rapidly in all regions of the world in recent years. Currently, dengue fever is still a health problem in both urban and semi-urban areas. Vector behavior and its relationship with the environment, such as climate, vector control, urbanization, etc. influence the occurrence of dengue fever outbreaks in urban areas. The aim of this research is to determine the risk factors associated with the presence of Aedes Aegypti mosquito larvae in Tuah Karya Village, Sidomulyo Health Center Area. This research design uses a cross sectional approach with the Chi-square test. Data collection methods are carried out through measurements, interviews, questionnaires and observation. The population of all heads of families (KK) in the Tuah Karya Subdistrict, Tuah Madani District is 7,624 families using cluster sampling as a sampling technique with a sample size of 100 respondents. The research results showed a significant relationship between pH (p value = 0.000), water turbidity (p value= 0.000), the presence of a landfill (p value = 0.000), level of knowledge (p value = 0.000) and the presence of mosquito larvae, while there was no significant relationship. significant relationship between PSN behavior and the presence of mosquito larvae (p value = 0.137). It is hoped that the Sidomulyo Community Health Center will routinely monitor the landfill by checking community bathtubs, routinely distributing abate powder, routinely conducting fogging, larva surveys and conducting outreach to increase community knowledge. Keywords : Aedes aegypti, pH, Landfill presence, Knowledge, PSN, Mosquito Larvae

Abstract

Stunting is a condition of growth failure in children under five due to chronic malnutrition, especially in the first 1,000 days of life. In Dumai City, the highest prevalence of stunting is in Purnama Village with 62 stunted toddlers (38.9%) out of a total of 159 toddlers. One of the factors causing stunting in children under five is the nutritional condition of the mother during pregnancy. In the city of Dumai, there are 315 pregnant women with chronic energy deficiency. This study aims to determine the relationship between the history of maternal nutritional status during pregnancy and the incidence of stunting in children under five years of age. The study used an analytic method with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were mothers who had toddlers with a sample size of 96 respondents. The results showed that 41% were stunted. The statistical test results show that there is a significant relationship between the size of the mother's LILA during pregnancy (p value 0.008), history of anemia during pregnancy (p value 0.020), body mass index of pregnant women (p value 0.036) with the incidence of stunting in children under five. It is expected that respondents, especially mothers, can prepare for a healthy pregnancy by checking themselves to health services before and during pregnancy, to prevent nutritional problems during pregnancy such as chronic energy deficiency, anemia, underweight and other health problems that can increase the risk of stunting in toddlers. Abstract

Abstract: Chronic Kidney Failure (CKD) is a progressive, end-stage kidney disease in which the body is unable to maintain metabolic, fluid and electrolyte balance, resulting in uremia. This can lead to an increase in body weight between dialysis sessions, commonly referred to as interdialytic weight gain (IDWG). The purpose of this study was to determine the factors influencing IDWG in patients with GKD undergoing hemodialysis at the dialysis unit of Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province. This research method is descriptive correlation with cross-sectional approach. The sample of this study were patients undergoing hemodialysis in Arifin Achmad Hospital Riau Province with sampling using accidental sampling technique, which amounted to 61 patients. Data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of patient characteristics, family support, HD adherence, fluid restriction adherence, and stress level. There is no relationship between HD compliance and increased IDWG levels. On the contrary, there is a relationship between family support, fluid restriction compliance, and stress level among hemodialysis patients at Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province. It is hoped that this study can provide knowledge and input as well as an overview of IDWG values in hemodialysis patients. Keywords: Family Support, HD Adherence, Fluid Restriction Adherence, Stress Level, IDWG

Abstract

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that continues to increase globally, with a significant health and economic burden. A balanced diet is a key component of type 2 DM management. Purpose: To analyze the factors that influence balanced diet behavior in patients with type 2 DM in Pekanbaru using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) approach. Method: This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. Data were collected from 117 patients with type 2 diabetes who were registered at the Pekanbaru Health Center. The variables studied included knowledge, attitude, family support, and the role of health workers in balanced diet behavior. Data analysis was performed using chi-square and Odds Ratio (OR) tests to determine the relationship and the chance of influence of independent variables on the dependent variable. Results: The results showed that low knowledge (OR=4.9), negative attitude (OR=2.5), lack of family support (OR=2.8), and non-optimal role of health workers (OR=3.2) had a significant influence on balanced diet behavior in patients with type 2 diabetes (p<0.05). Conclusion: Factors such as knowledge, attitude, family support, and the role of health workers significantly influence the balanced diet behavior of patients with type 2 diabetes. Suggestion: Education-based interventions and strengthening social support are needed to improve patient adherence to a balanced diet.

Abstract

Abstract

Waste management, particularly of organic waste from food residues (food waste), has become an increasingly pressing environmental issue in urban areas such as Pekanbaru City. Tangkerang Barat Sub-district, characterized by high population density and numerous Food Processing Places (TPM), is one of the hotspots for organic waste accumulation. This community service program aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of housewives in managing household organic waste by converting it into eco-enzyme, a low-cost and environmentally friendly solution that is simple to implement. The activities included socialization, training on waste segregation, and hands-on practice in producing eco-enzyme using vegetable and fruit scraps. The fermentation process of eco-enzyme was explained in detail to ensure participants could replicate it independently. Evaluation results indicated that 75% of participants were willing to apply eco-enzyme production at home, and all participants acknowledged the benefits of the training. This initiative is expected to foster a more sustainable and community-based household waste management system. Keywords: organic waste, eco-enzyme, household waste
