Abstract

Cancer treatment is known to cause side effects ranging from mild to severe, which can also affect the quality of the patient's health. Natural ingredients are an alternative source of cytotoxic substances with good anticancer activity and minimum side effects. Sirih hutan (Piper aduncum L.), also known as spiked pepper, is a medicinal plant with potential cytotoxic activity. This study aims to determine the cytotoxic activity of the ethanol extract of P. aduncum L. leaves with the Microculture Tetrazolium Test method. Phytochemical screening showed that P. aduncum L. contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponin, phenol, and steroid/terpenoid compounds. The cytotoxic activity test was carried out on T47D cells with a concentration of 100 µg/mL, 10 µg/mL, 1 µg/mL, and 0.1 µg/mL test solution. The obtained IC50 value of the ethanol extract of P. aduncum L. was 171.2 µg/mL, belonging to the moderate toxic category. From this study, it is concluded that P. aduncum L holds potential as an anticancer agent.

Abstract

In this 21st century, there are special skills that must be mastered by teachers, especially productive teachers, namely 21st century skills. This study aims to determine the level of 21st century skills possessed by productive teachers at SMK Negeri 2 Padang Panjang. The research method used is quantitative with survey research design. The study population was all teachers at SMK Negeri 2 Padang Panjang, and the sample was taken using purposive sampling technique so that the number of respondents was 26 people. Data analysis was carried out descriptively using index numbers. The research results of this study are the 21st century skill level of productive teachers at SMK Negeri 2 Padang Panjang is classified as in the high category, as evidenced by the high index scores obtained for life and career skills, learning and innovation skills, as well as information, media and technology skills. Based on the research results, productive teachers at SMK Negeri 2 Padang Panjang have a good understanding of the importance of applying 21st century skills in the learning process, as evidenced by the high index value obtained. However, there are several indicators of 21st century skills that are still below the average index value.

Abstract

Abstract

Piperine, the primary alkaloid of Piper nigrum and Piper longum, is believed to have anticancer properties. Although research on cervical cancer is still in its early stages, piperine's anticancer capabilities have been established in numerous types of cancer and have been shown to target pathways involved in the cell cycle and apoptosis. This study aims to determine how piperine administration time and concentration affect the viability of Hela cells. The MTT method was used to conduct this study. The concentration of piperine utilized was 1,000; 500; 250; 125, and 62.5 µg/mL, and it was administered for 24 and 48 hours. The IC50 values, obtained after incubation for 24 and 48 hours, were 711.21 µg/mL and 419.75 µg/mL, respectively. We may conclude that the viability of HeLa cells is influenced by piperine in a time- and concentration-dependent manner (p<0.05).

Abstract

Technological advancements in Indonesia's Construction have initiated a digital transformation in the sector. The necessity of incorporating automated systems in contract performance to meet future digital needs has become increasingly apparent. This paper presents to spearhead research into the possibility of the Indonesian construction industry adopting smart contracts. The chosen research approach is a qualitative scientific methodology involving a systematic review highlighting the benefits and obstacles associated with adopting smart contracts within the construction industry. Further data were collected from construction contract management experts through interview sessions. The findings reveal that the self-execution feature of smart contracts could better distribute risks within a contract. However, the study also uncovers substantial challenges in applying smart contracts, such as their immutability, irreversibility, and vulnerability to human errors. The study concludes that smart contracts are best suited for short-term contracts that do not require variations. Smart contracts could streamline contract management, reducing time and effectively addressing conflicts and disputes during the contract's lifespan. The devised implementation framework holds significance for construction professionals, particularly those involved in contract administration. Incorporating smart contracts into construction could enhance contract administration and management discipline by fostering investment in this emerging technology
