Abstract

Preschool is the time when children are between the ages of 3 to 6 years, where in this phase, they experience a periode of increasing various competencies in themselves in order to prepare them for school. At this time, the child will display optimal development which is shown in his daily life the child receive adequate nutrition, appropriate stimulation for development and proper education. Preschool children had the characteristics of active self-consumption, where children tend to choose foods what they like. This condition allowed a larger number of children in this group to be exposed to a dirty environment, where this situation provides a greater opportunity for infection from various kinds of diseases to children as well as non-optimal nutrition from inadequate food consumption will be associated with worsening health. Kindergarten Methodist-6 was located near the main road where around the school location there were snack for school children. The survey resulted found that many kindergarten children did not know about the guidelines for balanced nutrition. Providing health education regarding balanced nutrition guidelines covering 3 topics consisting of an introduction to balanced nutrition guidelines, principles of balances nutrition, and snacks for children through lectures, questions and answers and discussions, demonstration and redemonstration. Educational measurement through pictorial quiz consists of 7 questions. Health education regarding balanced nutrition guidelines increased children’s knowledge by 38%. Health education regarding balanced nutrition guidelines can increase knowledge of kindergarten children.

Abstract

Background Stunting is one of the nutritional problems faced in today's world that many toddlers experience. Stunting is a condition where children under five have a length / height that is less when compared to age. The incidence of stunting arises from conditions such as poverty and inappropriate breastfeeding. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between length of breastfeeding and the level of family poverty with the incidence of stunting in children under five in a literature study. The type of research used is a literature study with secondary data collection from scientific research articles from 2015-2020. Article selection is done by setting inclusion and exclusion criteria consisting of duplication, title, abstract and PICOS criteria. Search data using the online Google Scholar, DOAJ, PubMed and Garuda databases using the key words "long breastfeeding" AND toddler stunting, and family poverty level AND "toddler stunting". The articles obtained were 289 articles, but only 11 articles that matched the inclusion criteria. Selected articles are then evaluated. The results of this literature study found that 5 out of 11 articles that examined the relationship between poverty and stunting showed that 100% of the articles stated that there was a relationship. Children from poor families tend not to get good nutrition because they cannot provide food at the household level. . Likewise with the length of breastfeeding. 6 out of 11 articles that reviewed this subject, 100% showed that there was a relationship between the length of breastfeeding and the risk of stunting. The longer breastfeeding is given, the less stunting occurs. In conclusion, The family poverty rate and the length of breastfeeding are related to the incidence of stunting in children under five

Abstract

ABSTRAK Anemia memberikan dampak negatif terutama bagi bayi dalam kandungan, seperti mengakibatkan keguguran, bayi lahir tidak cukup bulan, bayi tidak berkembang sempurna. Anemia dianggap sebagai masalah kesehatan masyarakat yang utama pada lebih dari 80% negara di dunia, prevalensi anemia pada kehamilan >20%. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan dalam bentuk  edukasi pada ibu hamil berjumlah 30 orang. Tujuan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini adalah untuk mewujudkan pengabdian kepada masyarakat sebagai salah satu kegiatan Tri Darma Perguruan Tinggi, meningkatkan pengetahuan Ibu hamil tentang anemia sebagai upaya pencegahan anemia.  Dari hasil evaluasi diperoleh pengetahuan ibu hamil sebelum diberikan edukasi mayoritas cukup sebanyak 63,3% dan setelah dilakukan edukasi mayoritas baik  sebanyak 95.7%. Dengan adanya kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini diharapakan kepada Ibu hamil dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan mengenai anemia sebagai upaya pencegahan anemia pada ibu hamil. Kata Kunci: Edukasi, Pengetahuan, Ibu Hamil  ABSTRACT Anemia has a negative impact, especially on babies in the womb, such as resulting in miscarriage, babies born not at term, babies not developing fully. Anemia is considered a major public health problem in more than 80% of countries in the world, the prevalence of anemia in pregnancy is >20%. Community service was carried out in the form of education for 30 pregnant women. The aim of this Community Service is to realize community service as one of the Tri Darma activities of higher education, increasing pregnant women's knowledge about anemia as an effort to prevent anemia.  From the evaluation results, it was found that the majority of pregnant women's knowledge before being given education was adequate at 63.3% and after education the majority was good at 95.7%. With this Community Service activity, it is hoped that pregnant women can increase their knowledge about anemia as an effort to prevent anemia in pregnant women. Keywords: Education, Knowledge, Pregnant
