Abstract

Perusahaan nasional yang bergerak dalam bidang migas menyelenggarkan kegiatan pada sektor huluadalah PT.XY. Secara garis besar kegiatan operasi yang berlangsung meliputi pengeboran, eksplorasi, dankegiatan produksi dengan hasil akhir yaitu minyak mentah yang disalurkan ke Pangkalan Susu untukpengapalan. Dalam kegiatan produksi menghasilkan limbah gas sisa (flare) sebesar 0.58 mmscfd yang berasaldari 17.05 % dari gas alam yang dihasilkan. Gas flare merupakan gas sisa yang selama ini dilakukanpembakaran melalui flare stack untuk menghindari gas beracun seperti H2S dan CO yang berbahaya bagikesehatan manusia dan lingkungan. Namun aktivitas pembakaran dapat menimbulkan isu pencemaranlingkungan. Melalui pendekatan Green Productivity yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini diharapkan usahareduksi limbah yang dilakukan dapat berpengaruh terhadap perbaikan kondisi lingkungan sekaligus meningkatanproduktivitas perusahaan. Pada penelitian ini, dilakukan identifikasi adanya permasalahan pada perusahaan yangberhubungan dengan jumlah limbah yang berlebih dan berpotensi untuk direduksi. Sebelumnya dilakukanpengukuran produktivitas perusahaan selanjutnya dirumuskan dan dipilih berdasarkan kelayakannya untukdiimplementasikan melalui analisis finansial, dan estimasi kontribusi alternatif terhadap tingkat produktivitasHasil penelitian, didapatkan alternatif solusi untuk mengatasi permasalahan perusahaan dengan memanfaatkankembali gas flare menjadi bahan bakar untuk mesin insinerator. Alternatif ini memberikan kontribusi terhadappeningkatan produktivitas penggunaan material sebesar 23.32 %, manusia 83.8 %, modal 10.13%, dan wastemenurun sebesar 99%. Penerapan Green Productivity dan pemantauan rona lingkungan secara keseluruhan dapatmembantu perusahaan memenuhi salah satu persyaratan ISO 14001.

Abstract

Stand-alone photovoltaic system or PV is a power generation technology with potential that is environmentally friendly and also one of the solutions for saving high electricity rates today. However, problems that often occur due to weather fluctuations that are always changing, especially North Sumatra, Indonesia result in the conversion produced by solar cells not being optimal. Therefore, it is necessary to do a new model with a dual tracker system and the development of accelerator motor actuators so that the resulting energy conversion is more optimal. The result of optimizing the reliability of the polycrystalline type solar panel which is designed with an additional photovoltaic tracker system to maximize the conversion of solar energy to solar panels is to obtain an output power of 303.72 volts DC and 267.52 volts DC in the position where the tracker is not used. Then the percentage increase in energy reached 29.80%. Dual axis tracker technology is able to maximize energy conversion in improving PV usage performance. The implementation of a stand-alone PV system will be beneficial if the installation is in Indonesian territory, especially in disadvantaged, frontier and outermost areas.

Abstract

The Medan City Government uses the Trans Metro Deli Bus as a mode of transportation in Medan City. The Trans Metro Deli Bus use aims to serve the needs of passengers along the route. For the operation of Trans Metro Deli, it is necessary to have supporting facilities, which is a bus stop. The construction of inefficient bus stops will result in increased transportation problems because many people who should be the target users are lazy to use this mode because of difficulties when using existing facilities. The purposes of the study were to determine the number and location of bus stops and to analyze the number of passengers getting on and off in corridor V. The study was conducted along Corridor V, namely Tembung – Lapangan Merdeka. The research used the Set Covering Problem method to determine the location of an efficient bus stop by minimizing the number of bus stops while being able to meet all demand points. The types of research were survey field research, questionnaire distribution, and direct observation. The data processing results concluded that 12 efficient shelter locations could meet the demand points for the bus stop construction. The bus stops locations that would be built were in the Tembung gas station, Alfamidi Letda Sujono, Budisatrya School, CV. Fajarindo Anugerah Sukses Sejati, Serdang Intersection, Coco H. M. Yamin gas station, the Health Service, Regional Post Office 1, Indosat Office, Indola Mobil, Al-Hidayah School, and Padang Street Intersection and the number of passengers in Corridor V were 2,155 passengers within a month. This study also analyzed the location determination of bus stop when the government had a limited budget for bus stop construction.

Abstract

CV. Cipta Jaya is a company in the manufacture and assembly of aluminum casseroles located at Tembung Main Street No. 11 in Medan was founded by Mr. Daiman on May 23, 1998, with its dominant production of aluminum casseroles. The condition of employees at work was lacking enthusiasm and not focusing on the production process. The very modest use of machines and tools led to the nonoptimal production process. In addition, product sales on CV Cipta Jaya had decreased due to a lack of promotion in the mass media. This caused productivity in CV. Cipta Jaya was less effective and efficient so it needed to improve the production line. The purposes of this study were to determine the effective strategy for increasing productivity based on the company's conditions and the level of company profitability. The method used was The American Productivity Center (APC model). The results showed that the productivity level of CV. Cipta Jaya during the measurement period decreased. It was seen from all inputs as a whole in period 1 of -39.176 and period 3 of -39.176. The level of inconstant profitability fluctuates based on the above calculation; a decrease in productivity was followed by a decrease in profitability. It was proven in period 1 which fell by -17.1% and period 2 by 59.5%. Then, it increased in period 1 of energy input by 0.920 and capital by -1.205. The price improvement index increases every year, namely, period 1 by 1.0% and period 2 by 1.03%.

Abstract

Along with the development of technological products that can provide comfort and convenience for human life which will depend on the innovation of more complex product functions for consumers that will continue to be used, therefore it is necessary to design lightweight brick molds that are ergonomic and able to meet customer demands. The design of the lightweight brick mold was carried out using the Pahl and Beitz method by applying the REBA (Rapid Entire Body Assessment) method for proposed improvements by evaluating the worker's overall posture. The aim of this research is to produce an ergonomic design that is able to meet every customer request. The results of the research showed that measurements of work posture carried out by light brick workers had to take corrective action because it showed level 10, which means it was at level 4 (dangerous conditions). By reducing dangerous angles on body parts, a better working body posture is obtained with a REBA score of 3 which is included in risk level 2 (Low risk) based on worker anthropometric processing where each data is sufficient and uniform, so that a lightweight brick mold design can be produced. reduces the risk of injury to musculoskeletal disorders for workers with dimensions of mold length 100 cm, width 51.27 cm, mold height 60 cm, mold handle length 29 cm, mold handle width 9 cm

Abstract

The tri dharma of higher education is a task and function for every lecturer that must be carried out every semester, and one of these activities is carrying out community service. The Industrial Engineering study program had the opportunity to implement it with MSMEs in making folded crackers in Sentis village, Percut Sei Tuan subdistrict. Based on the data, it was found that the quality of crackers was damaged by 21% per month, causing a decrease in income. This service aims to educate entrepreneurs to improve product quality so that cracker sales can increase and reduce damaged products using the Taguchi method.  From the experimental results, it was found that quality improvements in the form of taste, durability and crispness of crackers could be improved through 3 stages, namely the drying factor for 7 hours (A1), the optimal baking factor for 13 minutes (B1), and the optimal frying factor for 2 minutes (C2). The results of this experiment succeeded in improving the quality of crackers, in line with consumer expectations, and it is hoped that they will be able to restore and increase sales which previously experienced a decline.

Abstract

This research investigates using genetic algorithms (GA) to optimize production scheduling in Medan's shoe industry. The study compares traditional manual and First Come First Serve (FCFS) methods against a GA approach, incorporating selection variations such as Boltzmann, Fitness Uniform Selection Scheme (FUSS), Exponential Rank Selection, and Roulette Wheel Selection. The optimal production order is derived from the chromosome with the highest fitness. Results indicate that GA with FUSS selection significantly reduces production time from 73,630 minutes to 45,650 minutes, achieving a 35% improvement in efficiency. This optimization is attributed to FUSS’s ability to maintain a diverse population, preventing premature convergence and ensuring a broader solution for space exploration. Additionally, it was found that using a smaller population size relative to the number of generations yields better optimization results. The study also demonstrates that while Roulette Wheel Selection shows more variability, it achieves higher optimization over time than FCFS. The practical implications of these findings are substantial for the shoe industry, including faster production cycles, better resource allocation, and an enhanced ability to meet customer demands. These benefits are exemplified by implementing the SISPROMA application, an innovative production scheduling information system that leverages machine learning to optimize scheduling in the manufacturing industry. This study provides valuable insights into applying genetic algorithms for production scheduling, highlighting their potential to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs. Future research should explore additional optimization techniques and real-world applications to validate and extend these findings, ensuring broader applicability and continuous improvements in manufacturing efficiency.

Abstract

CV. Suka Bersama is an MSME (Micro, Small Medium Enterprises) in plastic straws (pipettes) manufacture. The main materials used in the process of making this pipette are polypropylene and dye which consists of three colors, namely yellow, green, and red. Currently CV. Suka Bersama only used estimates in raw materials purchasing. If the raw materials ran low in the warehouse, then CV. Suka Bersama had to reorder raw materials based on use, so it often had the unavailability and excess stocks in the warehouse. Where there was excess, there would be additional costs, and if there was less, production would be hampered. One way that could be used to overcome this was by applying ordering raw materials using the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method which was used to determine the number of orders or purchases that might be made and how many quantities might be ordered. So that the total costs in the sum of ordering and storage costs were a minimum, raw material inventory control and how to apply the economic order method, safety stock reorder point, and total cost in controlling raw material inventory. By calculating the raw material inventory issued by the company was Rp. 4,429,969 while using the EOQ method was Rp. 979,110 of the total cost of raw material inventory was more efficient using the EOQ method with a difference of Rp. 3,450,859.

Abstract

University of Medan Area (UMA) is one of the universities having an E-learning website for facilitating the teaching and learning process between students and lecturers that can be done remotely and connected via the internet. The features  on  the  UMA  E-Learning  website  are  pretty  complete,  but  still,  the  operation  of  some  features  is  quite complicated  and  time-consuming,  so  some  UMA  students  found  it  hard  to  use  UMA  E-Learning.  The  University  of Medan Area E-Learning website needed to be tested for usability with Elements of Effectiveness and Efficiency. This study aimed to know the usability test results on the University of Medan Area E-Learning website and to know how the proposed improvements to the University of Medan Area E-Learning website. This research used the Eye Tracking method. Eye Tracking is a technique that allowed academics or researchers to analyze visual attention by detecting where users are looking, how long they are looking and the order in which they are looking. This test was carried out by giving several tasks to be done by the respondents, to find out the success and time of the respondents' work. The results in this study was based on the calculation of the effectiveness level in Task 1 obtained a percentage of 88.57%, Task 2 obtained 41.63%, and Task 3 obtained 48.57%. Based on the calculation of the efficiency level, it obtained TBE Task  1  =  0.038  goals/sec.  TBE  Task  2  =  0.024  goals/sec,  TBE  Task  3  =  0.031  goals/sec  and  obtained  ORE  Task  1  = 85.99%, ORE Task 2 = 29.83%, ORE Task 3 = 34.44%.
