Abstract

Abstract

Workers involving in a manual task (e.g. lifting, pushing, pulling, etc.) are subject to a musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) risk. The risk is even worse should the workers are not working in a good body posture while facilities and working environment are not ergonomically designed. Thus, it becomes significant for the workers to have a normal body posture while performing tasks. In addition, they also should be equipped with facilities and working environments that are ergonomically designed. CV. XYZ is a garment industry which produces apparels and other clothes. CV. XYZ has several work stations, and one of them is a film-making (screen printing) station. There are 20 work elements in this station, where all of them are a manual task. This research aims to investigate and evaluate over working condition, facilities and working environment at film-making station which later will be quantified into MSDs risk level. For this purpose, this research will employ Rapid Entire Body Analysis (REBA) to measure MSDs risk of the worker in this station. From this evaluation, it will suggest a creation of ergonomic aid tools which aims to reduce the risk of MSDs level. Those aid tools are a desk, a chair and a lorry that are designed by considering body posture and anthropometry principles. A simulation analyisis will be performed by using a mannequin pro software so that the comparison of the MSDs risk level prior and after the improvement can be obtained. Research finding shows that after implementing the suggested solution, 15 out of 20 work elements show a reduction of REBA score, and lowering the risk of MSDs.

Abstract

One micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) in the Payakumbuh City area is Andika Farm, which focuses on broiler chicken production. This MSME has distributed a lot of broiler chickens and is collaborating with other parties to increase its production. One of the problems faced by Andika Farm MSMEs is capacity planning, empty cages due to a shortage of seeds, disrupted distribution of chickens, and a lack of planning to meet needs. The research aims to help plan capacity by determining the amount of production, constraints that must be considered, optimal profits, and sensitivity values to the optimum solution achieved in MSMEs. This research was conducted using two methods: Linear Programming and Decision Trees. The results of optimizing cage profit 2 produce an EMV of IDR 104,500. Compared with cage 1, cage 2 has the best use of production factors. The quality of the seeds is greatly influenced by the cage's location, where production factors could be more efficient. Keywords: capacity planning; decision tree; linear Programming

Abstract

PT. XYZ is a manufacturing company engaged in the production of cables and conductors such as busbars. Busbar is a copper bar used to distribute electric power. The problem that occurs at PT. X is that there are still reject products in the busbar production The reject criteria found are as follows: bent busbar, scratched visual, oxidized visual, cracked visual during bending test. This aims of this research are to reduce the total rejects in busbar products by proposing improvements to the busbar production process using the six-sigma method. The data used in this study consisted of primary data (results of discussions with production managers, quality control managers and engineering staff and research in field) and secondary data types and total rejects within 21 months. The results of this research found that at the define stage scratched busbar and bent busbar are the dominant type of busbar that will be improved in this research. At the measure stage, the company sigma value is 3.607. This result can be used to propose quality improvement for the busbar production process whisch is obtained so that the company can reduce the number of defective products and improve product quality.
