Abstract

Apart from being based on clinical findings, the determination of the diagnosis of Disorders of sex development (DSD) is also supported by a variety of supporting examinations such as chromosome analysis, radiology, and laboratory examinations, one of which is the examination of hormone levels. Examination of hormone levels can provide a picture of gonadal and adrenal function, which is useful both for screening and for determining the diagnosis of DSD. The study that aims to identify the hormone profile of DSD patients in Indonesia is still very minimal, and this study is the first study to review the profile of DSD hormones in RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. This study is a descriptive study using secondary data from the medical records of DSD patients who underwent hormonal examinations during the 2013-2017 period. Of the total 173 DSD patients who came for treatment at the Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang during the last five years, only 22 (12.72%) patients underwent hormone testing. There were 13 hormone profiles that were examined in DSD patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang with the hormone testosterone (54.54%) as the most frequently examined hormone. Hormone profile examination as a screening aid and diagnosis of DSD has not become one of the most common supporting examinations carried out at Dr. RSUP. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang.

Abstract Validity and Reliability Testing of Boredom Proneness Scale Indonesian Version Amongst Faculty Medicine Sriwijaya University. Boredom is defined as a state of relatively low arousal and dissatisfaction, which is attributed to an inadequately stimulating situations. Everyone has a tendency to experience boredom. Boredom Proneness Scale (Farmer and Sunberg, 1986) is one of many scale that can measures boredom proneness. BPS hasn’t been adapted from the original language (English) in Indonesia. This study uses validity and reliability approach. Process of study divided into adaptation process and psychometric analysis process. Psychometric analysis of BPS Indonesian Version consists of Item Content Validity Analysis (I-CVI) & Scale Content Validity Index (S-CVI). BPS Indonesian Version was spread twice amongst students of Medicine Program Faculty of Medicine Batch 2016─2018. Psychometric analysis of Boredom Proneness Scale Indonesian Version as Guttman Scale was done by counting the coefficient of reproducibility (CR) and coefficient of scalability (CS). BPS Indonesian Version were obtained by adaptation process. Based on 9 experts’ appraisal in experts panel, minimum I-CVI is 0,83 (minimally accepted index 0,78) on the 10th scale and S-CVI is 0,98 (minimally accepted index 0,90). CR of BPS Indonesian Version is 0,589 (first) and 0,594 (second) which defines BPS Indonesian Version is not valid and CS of BPS Indonesian Version is obtained as 0,177 (first) and 0,188 (second) which defines BPS Indonesian Version is not appropriate to be used in study. BPS Indonesian Version is not aprropriate to be used in measuring boredom proneness in students of Medicine Program Faculty of Medicine Sriwijaya University. Abstract

Musculoskeletal pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with real or potential damage to musculoskeletal tissue. Musculoskeletal pain such as low back pain, osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis can develop into chronic pain when it lasts more than 3 months. Chronic pain and psychological well-being are very closely related; chronic pain adversely affects psychological well-being and decreases the quality of life, on the contrary, psychological well-being also affects the subjective feeling of pain felt by the patient. Therefore, the treatment of musculoskeletal pain should be carried out comprehensively, not only with medication but also with physical exercise, so as not to proceed into chronic pain. After participating in this activity, the community is expected to have a sufficient understanding of musculoskeletal pain, psychological aspects of pain, and exercise programs that can be done independently at home to treat pain.

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACTIntroduction: Suicide is a deliberate act to end one's life. Suicidal incidents are often found among medical students. The suicide rate among medical students is very high when compared with students of other majors. Method: This review wishes to provide a brief explanation of factors contributing to the incidence of mental health disorders among medical students along with potential management including prevention and promotion related to the situation. Results: A study in the United States stated that the prevalence of suicidal ideation in medical students was 11%, twice of the general population, while the prevalence of attempted suicide was 6.9%. Several factors related to the academic situation that contribute to mental disorders among medical students include pressure in medical education, demand for good skills, and long education time. Discussion: These factors make them prone to depression, burnout, and various emotional and mental disorders that can trigger suicide. Therefore, efforts are needed to prevent and detect the possibility of suicidal behavior. This effort must be carried out in a multidisciplinary manner. Optimizing the academic atmosphere, family involvement, the social environment, and the ability of adequate health facilities are needed.
