Abstract

PT.

Abstract

Management and maintenance of slopes require proper knowledge of slope conditions so that appropriate mitigation measures can be implemented. The activities required for the management of slopes include slope inventory, slope inspection, slope risk level assessment, and risk mitigation measures. The objective of this study was to observe the slope conditions and causes of past slope failures, determine the appropriate mitigation measures, and analyze the suitability of landslide mitigation measures and causes of slope failures. The research locations are road segment No. 36 (Kota Lahat – Simpang Air Dingin), No. 37 (Simpang Air Dingin – Pagar Alam), and No. 38 (Pagar Alam – Tanjung Sakti – batas Bengkulu). The research was initiated by analyzing data collected by the South Sumatra National Road Management Agency (BPJNSS) from 2018 to 2021. The field observation was conducted on ten locations where the slope had been repaired after slope failure events. The suitability of mitigation with the factors that cause landslides was analyzed using the slope management system method suggested by the Ministry of PUPR. The results showed that most slope failures were triggered by high-intensity rain falling on slope surfaces containing high humidity due to previous rainfall. The common types of slope mitigation are reducing the forces that cause movement, increasing the resisting forces by controlling seepage, and the use of anchors.

Abstract

This community service program aims to address the impact of conventional teaching methods that reduce students' learning interest and achievement at UPTD SD Negeri 13 Binjai Baru. By utilizing technology-based learning media, Smart Box, the program is designed to create more interactive and relevant learning experiences. The methods include socialization to build support, technical training for teachers and students, the application of Smart Box in learning, mentoring to ensure effectiveness, and sustainability planning. The implementation of this program successfully increased student participation from 45% to 78% and improved the learning interest score from 5.2 to 8.7 on a scale of 1–10, with a positive impact on students' critical thinking skills. In conclusion, Smart Box has proven effective as a technology-based learning innovation, particularly in primary education environments with limited infrastructure, and can be replicated with training and mentoring support from the government or education authorities.

Abstract

Background: Urbanization has significantly reduced green open spaces in Jakarta, impacting ecological balance and quality of life. While the importance of green open spaces for urban quality of life is well understood, comprehensive studies on spatial justice related to the distribution and accessibility of green open spaces in major cities like Jakarta are still limited. This study aims to assess the distribution, accessibility, and government budget allocation for public green open spaces in South Jakarta, with a focus on spatial justice and equitable access. Method: Using GIS software, this study assesses the distribution and accessibility of urban green spaces, conducts descriptive analysis on government budget allocation, and evaluates justice in public green space planning in South Jakarta. Findings: Despite the overall availability of green open space in South Jakarta meeting the standard of 0.2 m²/capita, the sub-districts of Pasar Minggu and Pesanggrahan still exhibit gaps in availability, and accessibility uneven trough all South Jakarta. Conclusion: Moreover, the budget allocated by the government for green spaces is relatively low compared to the total budget of DKI Jakarta. Green open space planning in the City of South Jakarta has not yet fully achieved spatial justice. This is influenced by the insufficient number, area and distribution to reach all regions and accommodate all levels of society. Novelty/Originality of This Article: This study highlights spatial injustice in the distribution and accessibility of green open spaces in South Jakarta using GIS analysis, revealing disparities despite meeting per capita standards and inadequate government budget allocation.

Abstract

Vocabulary retention is a persistent challenge for beginner EFL learners. This classroom action research investigated the effectiveness of Gimkit, a digital game-based learning tool, in improving vocabulary mastery among seventh-grade students at UPTD SMPN 2 Kisaran. The study was conducted over two action-research cycles based on the Kemmis and McTaggart (1988) model and involved 32 students from class VII-9 who had low initial vocabulary scores. Data were gathered through vocabulary tests and student interviews. The results demonstrated a notable improvement in mastery: only 18.75% of students passed the minimum criterion in the pre-test, which increased to 46.87% in Cycle 1 and 90.6% in Cycle 2. The integration of visual aids and the use of Gimkit’s rematch feature in Cycle 2 enhanced student engagement and memory retention. Interviews indicated that students found the learning process more enjoyable and motivating. Nonetheless, some learners continued to experience difficulties in vocabulary retention due to external factors such as health issues and personal challenges. These findings highlight the potential of Gimkit as an effective and engaging digital tool to support vocabulary acquisition in EFL classrooms, particularly at the beginner level.
