Abstract

Due to its ability to create commercial opportunities that local communities can manage, tourism is a well-known industry with significant development potential. Information technology has had significant advancements in its application within the tourism industry, and its implementation is now commencing in Indonesia. The use of IoT technology in the tourism industry necessitates a series of sequential stages, culminating in the establishment of a comprehensive information platform that facilitates the monitoring and administration of tourism activities. Utilizing IoT technology to construct a tourist platform helps expedite the process of integrating information and infrastructure while effectively leveraging smart technology in the tourism sector. The research methodology employed is a hybrid approach. The data outputs are processed and evaluated using a strategy that caters to the interests of the community and parties involved in the collaborative development of smart tourism, both qualitatively and quantitatively. The analysis stage uses the theory of visual perception as a way to understand what the desired implementation of IoT-based smart tourism looks like. This is shown in the selection stage. Meanwhile, this investigation concluded with a technological readiness level of five. The research was conducted without any prior investigation that aligned with the themes, tools, and objects employed by the researchers, representing the current state of the art. Furthermore, the research team comprises specialists in the domain of information systems, including two members who possess expertise in information systems and languages. This ensures a comprehensive grasp of the tools utilized in model development, collaboration, and the potential for technological advancement. In addition to the desired outcome, this is an Internet of Things (IoT)-based intelligent tourism system that may be utilized as a tool in many tourist destinations across Indonesia.

Abstract

Mount Sinabung is an active volcano located in the Karo Highlands, specifically in the Karo Regency of North Sumatra, Indonesia. Sinabung and Mount Sibayak, located in North Sumatra, are both active volcanoes and rank as the second-highest peaks in the province. However, it saw a dramatic resurgence and became active once more with a volcanic eruption on August 27, 2010. The most recent eruption of this mountain took place on February 19, 2018 and is ongoing. The significance of this situation prompted the study team to engage in the development of an empowerment paradigm. The objective of this study is to create a digital tourism framework for communities impacted by the eruption of Mount Sinabung, utilizing virtual reality technology as a means to facilitate societal repair. The research methodology employed is a hybrid approach. The data results are processed and evaluated using a customized technique that takes into account the specific demands of the community and parties involved in the collaborative model development. This analysis is done both qualitatively and quantitatively. The analytical stage of discussing the desired digital tourist model employs the theory of viewing techniques, which is akin to reading, in the form of the selection stage.

Abstract

Tourism is a key sector in Indonesia's economic development, contributing significantly to national growth. With a target of generating USD 30 billion in foreign exchange and attracting 22.3 million international tourists by 2024, the sector aligns with the 2020-2024 RPJMN narrative to strengthen economic resilience. Emphasizing sustainable and green tourism, Indonesia promotes eco-green principles to reduce environmental impacts, conserve natural and cultural heritage, and empower local communities. The study highlights the use of Internet of Things (IoT) and 3D mapping technologies to enhance tourism management and promotion, focusing on Lingga Village in Karo Regency, North Sumatra. These innovations aim to present spatial data interactively, improving accessibility and tourist experiences. Survey results show that 85.4% of respondents strongly support the use of 3D modeling for tourism promotion and education. Despite its potential, challenges such as limited budgets, small sample sizes, and community engagement remain obstacles. This research underlines the importance of integrating green tourism, technology, and sustainable practices to achieve equitable regional growth and environmental conservation in Indonesia.

Abstract

Plantation commodities are one of the largest contributors to Indonesia's foreign exchange. In 2019, the total value of plantation exports reached IDR 359.14 trillion. As the fourth largest producer of coffee beans in the world, Indonesia places coffee as one of its leading plantation commodities. In 2019 until now, the value of coffee exports ranks as the fourth largest commodity in Indonesia. If this program's sustainability plan goes well, it is hoped that partners will be able to utilize the innovative technology that has been provided independently, increase harvest yields and be able to sell and distribute the harvest and even export to Malaysia. The activity will be carried out until December 2024. This activity will be carried out in Kab. Karo. The concept of knowledge and technology transfer carried out in this activity is divided into three stages. The first stage is the preparation of activities, the stage of implementation of coaching activities and evaluation of activities.Based on the results of visits and interactions with partners, it shows that there are 3 problems as previously described. then the programs and solutions offered to solve the problems faced by these partners are:The problem faced by Megara Coffee partners is that the very small sales results are caused by farmers directly selling the coffee logs to middlemen, because coffee processing activities are expensive.Megara Coffee and Warung Dayac do not yet have adequate processing technology and have done it semi-conventionally for post-harvest activities, namely with the help of a small huller machine with a capacity of 10 kg/hour. Increase in partner production up to 100% and partner product packaging becomes export standardization.

Abstract

Coffee is one of the most profitable communities in Indonesia. In addition to being a foreign exchange earner, coffee farming also absorbs a lot of labor and is the main source of income for farmers, especially in coffee centers. North Sumatra Province is one of the centers of Arabica coffee with an area of 79,388.64 hectares and a total production of 71,588 tons, and Robusta coffee with an area of 17,778 hectares and a production of 9,283 tons. Karo Regency, with an area of 9,210 hectares and a coffee production of 7,411 tons, has great potential in coffee production, especially Karo coffee which is in demand in the international market. However, farmers in Kacaribu Village face obstacles in low digital literacy which hinders global marketing. Lack of knowledge about brand identity and digitalization of promotions makes coffee sales less competitive. Digitalization of marketing through digital technology can increase efficiency and market access. This Community Service (PKM) can increase the digital literacy of coffee farmers through training and mentoring, so that it is expected to have a positive impact on coffee farmers in Kacaribu Village, increase income and expand the reach of the Karo coffee market.
