Abstract

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted Indonesia's education system, prompting the transition from the 2013 Curriculum to the Independent Curriculum as part of a learning crisis recovery effort. This study examines various challenges during the transition, focusing on teacher readiness, educational infrastructure distribution, and project-based learning implementation. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and literature reviews. Findings reveal that the lack of teacher training is a major obstacle, hindering their understanding of the Independent Curriculum’s concepts and methods. Furthermore, the uneven distribution of curriculum textbooks forces schools to rely on less relevant materials. Data were collected through interviews and observations at MI Ma’arif NU 09 Keting, Jember, which has implemented the Independent Curriculum in Grades 1 and 4. The study highlights the importance of continuous teacher training and improved infrastructure distribution to effectively support curriculum implementation. Synergy among policymakers, teachers, and communities is also vital to addressing post-pandemic educational challenges. This research is expected to serve as a reference for improving the education system to sustain the Independent Curriculum.

Abstract

According to PISA 2022, Indonesian students scored 359 in reading, 366 in mathematics, and 19 in creative thinking, all well below the OECD average of 476, 472, and 33, respectively. The era of instant information from artificial intelligence (AI) and social media has also contributed to the decline in students' cognitive quality. Therefore, mindful, meaningful, and joyful deep Learning has been implemented as a learning approach in Indonesia. This study aims to examine how the concept and application of mindful, meaningful, and joyful deep Learning as a learning approach is implemented in primary education in Indonesia. The study was conducted systematically by analysing five scientific articles published between 2022 and 2025. Literature searches were conducted through Google Scholar, Research Gate, and Sinta, with the selection process following the PRISMA flow. The research findings indicate that deep Learning effectively promotes the development of critical, creative, reflective, and emotional thinking patterns and student engagement when applied contextually by aligning with students' life experiences. However, challenges such as teacher readiness and limitations in infrastructure and learning technology remain obstacles to implementation. These findings emphasise the importance of large-scale empirical studies on mindful, meaningful, and joyful deep learning approaches in the context of primary education as a reference for educational institutions in implementing them.

Abstract

Despite the critical role of instructional media in education, its implementation remains suboptimal in many learning environments. This study develops and evaluates a diversity-themed snakes and ladders game as an innovative medium for enhancing student engagement in Pancasila Education among fifth-grade learners at MI Nahrul Muhith. Using the Research and Development (R&D) methodology with the ADDIE framework (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), the study involved 16 participants. Data were collected through questionnaires and competency tests. Validation results demonstrated excellent suitability, with media experts rating the product at 88% and content experts at 84%, both meeting "very valid" criteria. Practicality assessments revealed outstanding outcomes: 90% approval in small-group trials, increasing to 93% student approval and 94% teacher approval in large-group implementation. Most significantly, the intervention achieved 100% classical learning mastery, confirming its educational effectiveness. These findings substantiate the game's viability as both a pedagogically sound and engaging instructional tool for character education, particularly in promoting diversity awareness through interactive learning experiences.
