Abstract

The era of globalization is marked by changes and rapid developments that occur in various fields of life, one of which is in the field of education. This situation becomes a challenge for educators to always develop their abilities. This critical thinking skill becomes important to be appointed and trained in biology learning. Through this research, the aim is to analyze students' critical thinking skills using a blended learning model assisted by nearpod media on ecosystem materials. This study uses a quantitative approach which used method is a quasi-experimental method. The technique for collecting research data is through a description test of ten questions given during the pretest-posttest. Based on the data obtained during the study, it can be concluded thatthe results of critical thinking skills assisted by nearpod media got an average pretest of 55.53 which increased to 78.25 with an N-Gain value of 0.46 medium criteria. Students with critical thinking skills in the high category were 28 students, the medium category was 3 students, and the low category was 2 students.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is a key 21st-century competency that needs to be developed in education, particularly in relation to environmental change issues. However, the results of PISA 2022 indicate that Indonesian students’ scientific literacy achievement remains low. This study aims to analyze the effect of the learning cycle model assisted by Padlet media on high school students’ scientific literacy skills in environmental change material. The research method used was quantitative with a quasi-experimental design of the pretest-posttest control group type. The sample consisted of 60 tenth-grade students, divided into an experimental class applying the learning cycle model with Padlet and a control class using conventional learning. The data collection instrument was a scientific literacy test that had been validated and proven reliable. Data analysis was conducted using t-tests and effect size measurements. The results showed no significant difference between the experimental and control classes. This finding indicates that the integration of the learning cycle model and Padlet was less effective in improving students’ scientific literacy. Theoretically, this research reinforces the relevance of constructivist learning combined with digital media. Practically, the findings can serve as recommendations for teachers to optimize the use of technology in science learning. Future research is suggested to expand the population, include additional variables, and combine quantitative and qualitative approaches to obtain a more comprehensive understanding.

Abstract

Salak seeds are one part of the salak fruit that is known as worthless waste by the community. Salak seed waste in some areas is used as raw material for making high-value coffee. This research aims to increase community participation in utilizing salak seed waste into a product that has high selling value and makes it a cultural identity of the Manonjaya region. This research data was obtained using a research questionnaire containing ten questions about snake fruit seed waste. The data obtained showed that most of the community did not know about the processing of salak seed waste into salak seed coffee. Data shows 96% of the community only consumes and utilizes the meat part of the salak fruit, 73% of the community has never consumed and utilized salak seeds. Based on these data, this research is expected to increase community participation in utilizing salak seed waste into a high-value product and make it a cultural and social identity of the Manonjaya region.
