Abstract

This research analyzes the problem of punishment in the current Criminal Code because there is a mismatch of socio-political, socio-philosophical, and socio-cultural foundations. This study also analyzes the problems in the current Criminal Code punishment due to the strong retributive influence on punishment so that imprisonment becomes the sole answer for judges in deciding cases. In connection with the various problems of punishment in the Criminal Code, efforts are made to reform the Criminal Code, which is adjusted to the socio-political, socio-philosophical, and socio-cultural foundations so that the reform of the Criminal Code has a mono-dualistic and pluralistic nature. The purpose of this research is to find how the concepts of mono-dualistic and pluralistic influence the reformation of the Criminal Code as well as the political direction of punishment in the reformation of the Criminal Code. Based on the research, the author found that the mono-dualistic and pluralistic nature of the Criminal Code reform influences the material expansion of the principle of legality. In addition, criminal code reform has a contemporary direction that prioritizes not only deterrent effects but also rehabilitative efforts so that it can restore social functions.

Abstract

The Indonesian government has implemented specific measures that have negatively impacted the environmental sector to enhance economic growth. In response to worldwide pressure and growing internal awareness, the Indonesian government implemented "pro-environment" policies by endorsing many international and regional accords and revising legislation. This article examines the Indonesian government's policy orientation in addressing deforestation, specifically whether the strategy prioritises economic or environmental considerations. Through the utilisation of normative juridical research methodologies, a statutory approach and a case approach, it was determined that the policies issued by the Indonesian government conflict with one another. These policies encompass several issues. Firstly, granting Forest Concession Rights, which should ideally prioritise forest sustainability, unfortunately, leads to extensive forest destruction. Secondly, the haphazard granting of concession permits is another concern. Lastly, the MP3EI and MIFEE programmes conflict with Law Number 32 of 2009, resulting in a significant loss of 76% of peat land in Papua. Furthermore, the lack of robust law enforcement regarding deforestation also exacerbates the accelerated pace of deforestation. Thus, it is evident that the Indonesian government is giving more importance to the economic sector than the environmental sector.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of digital communication transparency and public trust on crisis communication effectiveness in local governments in the MENA region, with public engagement as a mediator. Using a quantitative approach and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with data from 228 respondents, findings indicate that while transparency enhances public engagement significantly, trust alone does not directly boost engagement. Public engagement plays a vital mediating role, strengthening the effects of both transparency and trust on communication effectiveness. These results suggest that MENA governments should prioritize strategies fostering public participation alongside transparency to improve crisis communication outcomes. By actively engaging citizens, governments can enhance crisis management, strengthen public trust, and achieve more effective communication. This study contributes to the literature by underscoring the critical role of public engagement in crisis communication strategies.

Abstract

Economic growth increases a country’s real gross domestic product (GDP) over time. Investment is the expenditure on capital goods, such as machines, factories, and technology, that enhance the productive capacity of the economy. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the research trends and future directions in the field of economic growth and investment in Africa, based on a bibliometric analysis of the relevant literature. Using the Scopus database, we identified and analyzed 1,163 articles published between 2004 and 2023, This study employs a five-step methodology that consists of: (1) identifying keywords; (2) initializing search results; (3) including and excluding certain initial results items; (4) assembling initial data statistics; and (5) doing data analysis. The study findings revealed that the highest number of publications on economic growth and investment in Africa was in 2023 (166 articles), the top contributing affiliation was the University of South Africa, the leading influential country was South Africa and Social Sciences was the main source of contributions. Additionally, Odhiamb Nicholas M. topped the list of the top authors with high publications and 166 papers, while Simplice, Bekun, and Festus Victor held the top spot on the list of the most influential authors in terms of citations. Similarly, this study demonstrated that certain authors collaborate. This study identified four research clusters that could serve as a basis for future research expansion on economic growth and investment in Africa.

Abstract

From 2023 to 2025, 1,034 publications were examined for academic knowledge diffusion and educational innovation.  This bibliometric analysis uses VOSViewer for data recovery, pre-processing, network extraction, normalization, and visualization.  Due to its importance in educational innovation, many research clusters focus on "information dissemination".  The educational innovation ecosystem comprises higher education social media, knowledge management, and sustainability.  This analysis also finds clusters linking educational innovation to knowledge management, psychology, health workers, and sustainability.  In this study, digital technology, architecture, and organizational intelligence determine how digital connectivity increases educational creativity.  Technology like short films helps students understand difficult concepts.  Educational innovation research may focus on machine learning, social media, and information distribution, according to keywords and trends.  This study suggests digital tools, data-driven initiatives, and inclusive knowledge exchange for educational innovation.  These findings could inspire new learning and knowledge distribution initiatives by academics, legislators, and educators.
