Abstract

The students at the university under investigation are required to successfully complete the TOEFL Prediction test in order to be eligible for graduation. This study was conducted to assess the perceptions of these students regarding the TOEFL Prediction test as  one of the graduation requirements. The research employed a descriptive-quantitative methodology and involved 171 English Study Program students from three different academic batches. A questionnaire served as the primary instrument for data collection, with data analysis carried out using Microsoft Excel and SPSS statistics version 26. The results of the data analysis indicated that the mean scores for most items in the questionnaire were in the high range. Specifically, 25 out of the 29 questionnaire items obtained mean scores above 3.40, demonstrating that students' perceptions in this study leaned positively toward the TOEFL Prediction test policy. However, it's important to note that nearly half of the students recognized that the TOEFL Prediction test is not an easy test. Furthermore, there is room for improvement in terms of students' understanding of the type of TOEFL test provided by the language centre at the university and the benefits of the TOEFL certificate. These findings can provide valuable input for the university's policymakers and administrators. They can use this information to design new initiatives and strategies aimed at assisting students in improving their test-taking skills and their understanding of the TOEFL Prediction test's structure. Such efforts can contribute to enhancing students' overall readiness for this requirement.

Abstract

This research evaluates the effectiveness of using the Memrise application in improving the vocabulary mastery of the second-year students of SMAN 5 Pekanbaru. Employing a pre-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach, the research involved a sample of 40 students who underwent vocabulary assessments before and after treatment with the Memrise application. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students' vocabulary mastery, with the average score increasing from 76.80 (pre-test) to 88.90 (post-test). Statistical analysis using a paired sample t-test demonstrated a significance value of <0.001, confirming the positive effect of the Memrise application on vocabulary acquisition. The research highlights Memrise application as an effective digital tool for fostering vocabulary development, offering teachers and students a modern, interactive learning platform. Recommendations are provided for integrating such applications into classroom teaching to enhance language learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of using the Hello English application to improve vocabulary development on descriptive text of the tenth-grade students of SMAN 5 Pekanbaru. The research method used was a pre-experiment research design with pre-test and post-test one group. A total of 38 students of class X.3 became the sample of this study. Data was collected through a multiple-choice questions test with as many as 30 items. The results showed that Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected because the students' average score increased significantly from the pre-test to the post-test after treatment using the Hello English application. This can be seen from the mean score of the pre-test results which was 73.11 while the mean score of the post-test amounted to 92.16. With interesting features involving vocabulary exercises, educational games, and quizzes, the application can increase students' motivation to learn English. This application is also very useful for students especially in learning vocabulary and practicing it through descriptive text. For teachers, this application can help the learning process with different methods. The findings conclude that the use of technology-based applications such as Hello English can be an effective alternative in teaching English, especially in vocabulary development.

Abstract

This research aims to find out how the implementation of East Lombok Regency Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 2 of 2021 concerning Restrictions on the Generation of Plastic Waste, in this case the focus of the research is in Masbagik Sub-district, because Masbagik sub-district is one of the areas that contributes the most waste due to There are two big markets, namely Masbagik Baru Market and Pasar Baru Paok Panggang.The research used in this research is empirical normative legal research, namely research from actions on the implementation of normative law. This type of research is field research, namely research carried out systematically and methodologically to reveal the data needed in research that comes from the field. And carry out a review of statutory provisions and look at the facts or realities that occur in the field.Based on the results of the research used, namely empirical normative research, it is clear that hierarchical regional regulations are made in accordance with statutory provisions and in their regulation, these regional regulations regulate various aspects regarding limiting the generation of plastic waste. From field data, the government has carried out socialization in accordance with its provisions, but implementing these regional regulations is difficult to implement due to several inhibiting factors, including legal factors, human resource factors, lack of public awareness, and lack of budget.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui manfaat dan pentingnya pendaftaran tanah melalui pendaftaran tanah sistematis lengkap bagi masyarakat desa menceh kecamatan sakra timur, serta bentuk perlidungan hukum bagi masyarakat desa menceh yang sudah mendaftarkan tanahnya melalui pendaftaran tanah sistematis lengkap. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu normatif empiris. Adapun manfaat dari pendaftaran tanah bagi masyarakat di Desa Menceh yaitu, mereka mendapatkan bukti kepemilikan tanah berupa sertifikat, memperoleh kemudahan teransaksi pertanahan, dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Kemudian perlindungan hukun yang diperoleh masyarakat Desa Menceh yaitu, dengan adanya bukti kepemilikan tanah, mereka memperoleh kepastian hukum atas tanah mereka.

Abstract

This study analyzes the legal status of inherited land ownership after title transfer and the legitimacy of tax payment claims by other heirs. Despite the formal transfer and registration of inherited land providing legal certainty through certificates, disputes often arise when other heirs demand tax payments, highlighting a tension between administrative law and perceived fairness. This research fills a gap in understanding how Indonesian land law, civil inheritance law, and tax regulations intersect in post-transfer inheritance disputes. Using a normative juridical method with a qualitative approach, the study applies statutory, case, and conceptual analyses. Primary sources include UU No. 5 of 1960, KUHPerdata, PP No. 24 of 1997, and tax provisions on PBB and BPHTB, while secondary sources comprise literature and court decisions. Analysis interprets legal norms and connects them to social practices, emphasizing how legal certainty, substantive justice, and social utility can be balanced. The findings demonstrate that inherited land ownership post-transfer is legally valid and protected by certificates, whereas tax claims by other heirs are justified only for undivided obligations proportionate to each heir’s share, consistent with KUHPerdata principles. Applying Gustav Radbruch’s theory of legal certainty and Philipus M. Hadjon’s legal protection framework, the study highlights the need for integrated approaches combining litigation, mediation, and efficient tax administration under PER-8/PJ/2025. The study contributes academically by clarifying the interaction between inheritance law and tax obligations in Indonesia and offers practical guidance for heirs, notaries, BPN, and tax authorities to prevent disputes and ensure equitable distribution

Abstract

The business concept in the digital era is now changing all lines from offline buying and selling transactions to online buying and selling transactions. Through this business concept, the existence of the internet or e-commerce only makes buying and selling transactions or legal relationships that occur shorter, easier and simpler. An agreement in the e-commerce transaction takes place, will relate to the parties who make the transaction. The purpose of this study is to find out how buying and selling online transactions on online websites, such as Bukala, Bukalapak, Shopee, Facebook, WahatsApp. etc. during the covid 19 pandemic and to find out the positive and negative impacts that arise in online buying and selling transactions according to business concepts in the economy. Digital banking and e-banking are bank products that are currently in great demand by the public. Especially in the midst of this COVID-19 pandemic. The PSBB policy issued by the government has limited physical economic activity. This makes many people who want to carry out economic activities that on average depend a lot on banks, being unable to do it smoothly. In general, people make buying and selling transactions by meeting directly between the seller and the buyer, and even before the existence of currency as a means of payment, buying and selling transactions were carried out by bartering or exchanging goods between people who needed the goods with each other. Along with the times, new technologies began to emerge that make it easier for someone to do their work. One such technology is the Internet. The internet has brought changes to human activities in an effort to fulfill all their needs, because the internet can open up a world that is so wide and is able to provide various information and facilities needed. The method used in the research uses normative research, namely a library research by examining library materials related to the object under study. This study uses a statutory approach and a case approach. The analysis used is in the form of qualitative analysis, namely data analysis by providing a description of the findings to answer the problems that occur. One of the facilities provided by internet media is buying and selling activities through electronic media or commonly called E-commerce. E-commerce is mostly done by anyone, especially the modern business community because it is felt that it can streamline time, so that someone can transact with anyone and at any time without meeting face to face or know each other in trade. They only base buying and selling transactions on mutual trust, so that the sale and purchase agreements that occur between the parties are also carried out electronically, therefore there is no agreement file as in conventional buying and selling transactions. Although there are conveniences provided by e-commerce, it turns out that there is also a factor that hinders the implementation of e-commerce which turns out to be problematic for the implementation of e-commerce itself. One of them is the seller's responsibility if he defaults in buying and selling through e-commerce.
