Abstract

The church's economic development should be a concern of the church. PJM-PB Congregation Mandiri Protestant Nazareth Lonas does not yet have an entrepreneurial program to increase the congregation's finances, impacting the church's independence. This study aims to determine the opportunities and obstacles to procuring an entrepreneurship program at the PJM-PB Congregational Mandiri Protestant Nazareth Lonas. This research was conducted in two stages; first, the qualitative method was used to obtain in-depth information. Second is the quantitative method as a supporting method with data collection techniques using questionnaires and structured interviews. In this study, researchers also used a comparative study to compare the opportunities and obstacles of church entrepreneurship with control variables, theology, entrepreneurial knowledge, human resources, natural resources, availability of capital, and availability of working capital. The study results show that the PJM-PB of the Nazareth Lonas Protestant Independent Congregation already has enough opportunities to hold a church entrepreneurship program. This can be seen from the variables of theology, entrepreneurial knowledge, and availability of human and natural resources. Barriers exist in the variables of business capital and infrastructure. However, these obstacles will likely be overcome with the availability of opportunity variables.

Abstract

Until now, the Church still prohibits divorce among its congregation. However, the fact is that the divorce rate continues to rise. One of the causes of divorce in Indonesia is domestic violence (KDRT), where the victims are mostly women. This research aims to determine the perceptions of Christian women in one of the local churches in Central Sulawesi regarding divorce due to domestic violence. The research method used is quantitative with a survey approach. Data was taken using a questionnaire, measured using a Likert scale with the options of Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree and Strongly Disagree. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis using the SPSS application. Of the 30 respondents who participated, the results found that respondents gave an average response of Agree to the statements: 1) there is no point in maintaining a marriage full of violence; 2) divorce is one way to end domestic violence; 3) divorce is the victim's courage to end domestic violence behavior; 4) the church's prohibition on divorce is one of the obstacles for victims to escape the shackles of domestic violence. From these results, it can be concluded that if, in dealing with the problem of domestic violence, the church only insists on prohibiting its citizens from divorcing without providing concrete solutions for victims of domestic violence, then the divorce ban will not be effective in reducing the rate of increase in the divorce rate among Christians.

Abstract

This research examines the interest of adolescents from the Musafir Paisubololi congregation in the Theology Study Program, focusing on six indicators: "enjoyment of the Theology Study Program", "motivation to enter the Theology Program", "encouragement from others", "interest in the Theology Program", "willingness to learn about religion and engage in service", and "belief in the excellence of the Theology Program". The subjects of the study were 38 adolescents aged 15-22 years. The research method was quantitative, utilizing a survey approach with data collection conducted through a Likert scale questionnaire. The findings indicate an average response of "agree" across all six indicators, with "enjoyment of the Theology Study Program" and "willingness to learn about religion and engage in service" scoring the highest. While support from parents and church leaders was significant, it needs improvement. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that there is significant potential for developing the interest of adolescents in the field of theology through increased socialization and information about career prospects and the advantages of the Theology Study Program to enhance their interest.

Abstract

The tradition of providing meals during worship is part of a religious culture aimed at strengthening social relationships and expressing gratitude to God. However, for impoverished women, this tradition can become a financial and emotional burden. This study aims to examine the negative impacts of this tradition, particularly on women facing economic challenges, with a focus on the cultural, religious, and social pressures they experience. The research was conducted in Jemaat Batu Karang Ombuli, a local church in Banggai Kepulauan Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. The study employed a quantitative method with a survey approach involving 95 female respondents. The results show that respondents experience significant pressure. Most respondents (average score: 3.27) agreed that communal meals are an entrenched tradition, making them feel obligated to participate. Additionally, shared meals are understood as an expression of gratitude to God (average score: 3.47), even though financial constraints often pose challenges. Social pressure was also felt quite strongly (average score: 2.93), with a sense of shame being prevalent when respondents fail to provide meals. This study highlights that a tradition intended to foster solidarity instead creates burdens for vulnerable groups. Recommendations are provided for the church to develop more inclusive practices, emphasizing voluntary participation and solidarity without financial pressures, to preserve genuine values of togetherness.

Abstract

Abstract

This study addresses the financial and institutional limitations faced by rural local churches in establishing Church-Owned Enterprises (Badan Usaha Milik Gereja/BUMG), with a specific focus on the Oikumene Indangsari Congregation in Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. Although the congregation does not yet operate a formal business entity, it is supported by an economically active community of entrepreneurs, indicating significant potential to support church-led economic initiatives. Employing a mixed-methods approach with an exploratory descriptive design, the research utilizes interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and a Guttman scale questionnaire. The findings reveal that the congregation's entrepreneurs possess strong spiritual and social commitment, substantial entrepreneurial experience, and active roles in the church’s organizational structure. Nevertheless, limitations in managerial capacity and business formalization remain challenges. The study concludes that the active participation of congregation members serves as a strategic asset for developing a BUMG, especially when supported by targeted training, mentoring, and a professional institutional framework. The BUMG holds promise as a collective platform that integrates faith-based values with economic practices, fostering both the sustainability of ministry and the financial autonomy of the local church.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing women’s ministry commitment at the Church of Anugerah Bentara Kristus (GABK) Sola Gratia Pakasua Congregation and to interpret this phenomenon through the lens of feminist theology. The research employed a mixed-methods approach using a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data were collected through questionnaires administered to 38 active female church workers, while qualitative insights were obtained through in-depth interviews with five key informants. The results show that theological–doctrinal factors have the strongest influence on women’s ministry commitment (mean = 4.52), followed by socio–cultural, structural–organizational, personal–family, and psychological factors. Ministry is understood as a spiritual calling rooted in love and devotion to God rather than a mere institutional duty. From a feminist theological perspective, women’s active participation represents a theological and social transformation that embodies equality, solidarity, and spiritual resilience within a patriarchal structure. The findings affirm that women’s ministry reflects a liberating and contextual spirituality, providing significant implications for developing a participatory theology of ministry within local church contexts.
