Abstract

This study aims to determine the response of peanut gowth and production of local variety Kebar to goat manure treatment and peanut seed size. The method used was an experiment with a factorial randomized block design with two treatments. The first treatment was fertilizer dosage with 3 levels and the second treatment was seed size with 2 levels. Three levels for fertilizer doses, namely P0: 0 g/polybag; P1: 150 g/polybag, P2: 300 g/polybag. Two levels for seed size, namely, B1: small seed size (0.5 g) and B2: large seed size (0.8 g). The data was then analyzed using analysis of variation (Anova). If the treatment shows results that have a real effect, then continue with the DMRT further test. The results showed that the P2B2 treatment showed a higher leaf number and plant weight than the other treatments. However, the application of goat manure and seed size had no effect on number of pods, pod weight per plant, number of filled pods and 50 seed weight.

Abstract

Sugarcane plants in West Papua province, especially Manokwari Regency, have not been cultivated by the community. This can be seen from the presence of sugar cane plants in the yard that have not been cultivated. The aim of this research is to determine the type of animal manure fertilizer that has the best effect on the growth of single-bud chip sugar cane (Saccharum officinarum L.). The research used an experimental method and was designed with a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 3 treatments, namely M0 (soil), M1 (poultry manure fertilizer; 5:1), and M2 (goat manure fertilizer; 5:1) with a total of four replications. The research shows that poultry manure provides the best results for the growth of sugar cane plants. Treatment with poultry manure showed better plant height, number of leaves, and root length than other treatments.

Abstract

Taroi District is one of the districts in Teluk Bintuni Regency which is also known as a shrimp producer. Therefore, almost all the people of Taroi District work as fishermen. Shrimp production is greatly influenced by climatic factors so that there is a shrimp fishing season. In the non-shrimp fishing period, the community experienced difficulties in maintaining stable economic conditions. Coconut trees grow abundantly in the Taroi District area, from the coast to the mainland. However, the utilization of coconut commodities can be said to be very low. The main obstacle in developing coconut commodities is limited market access. The geographical location of Taroi District which is far from the district capital causes high transportation prices so that people are unable to market coconuts. Several strategies that can be used to overcome these obstacles are by 1) improving the quality of fruit through the creation of coconut plantations in dry areas, 2) variations in processed coconut products (virgin coconut oil, coconut oil, nata de coco, coconut honey, charcoal briquettes and cocopeat) and 3) availability of transportation and market access. Keywords: Coconut, Taroi District, Teluk Bintuni Regency

Abstract

ABSTRACT  Farmers from the Meyah tribe have the potential for empowerment in the context of agricultural development in the West Papua region. The aim of this training is to provide an understanding of organic farming and improve the ability of farmers from the Meyah tribe in making organic fertilizers and organic pesticides. The methods used in this training are discussion and practice. In the discussion session, the PKM Faperta team presented material on horticultural plant cultivation, organic farming, flower and fruit stimulation, as well as organic fertilizers and organic pesticides. Participants were very enthusiastic about listening to the material presented and asked many questions related to the obstacles faced in farming. In the practical session, participants were facilitated to make organic pesticides made from soursop leaves and garlic. Then proceed with making organic goat manure fertilizer. Both methods were very effective because they aroused enthusiasm in the community which could be seen from response given.  Keywords: Farmers; Meyah tribe; Organic fertilizer; Organic pesticide   ABSTRAK Petani asal suku Meyah memiliki potensi pemberdayaan dalam rangka pengembangan pertanian di wilayah Papua Barat.
