Abstract

Kata kunci: sinbiotik, Bacillus subtilis, biji asam, ayam broiler The Effect of Synbiotics Bacillus subtilis and Tamarind Seed (Tamarindus indica L) on the Physical Quality Meat and Abdominal Fat of Broiler ABSTRACT The study aims to determine the effect of the synbiotic-based Bacillus subtilis as probiotic and Tamarind seed (Tamarindus indica L.) as prebiotic on the physical quality of meat and abdominal fat in broiler chickens. This research used 200 broilers of one day age divided into five treatments and four replications, used a completely randomized design (CRD) with the following treatments: P0 (control), P1 synbiotic (2 mL probiotic and 2 g prebiotic), P2 synbiotic (2 mL probiotic and 4 g prebiotic), P3 synbiotic (4 mL probiotic and 2 g prebiotic), and P4 synbiotic (4 mL probiotic and 4 g prebiotic). The meat sample as the observation variable came from the slaughter of broiler chickens aged 36 days, which were taken four broilers randomly for each treatment. Data were analyzed using ANOVA analysis of variance. The parameters observed were pH, water holding capacity, cooking loss of breast and thigh meat, and abdominal fat. The results showed that the synbiotic-based Bacillus subtilis as probiotic and tamarind seed as prebiotic in the feed had a significant effect (p<0.05) on pH, water holding capacity, cooking loss, and had no significant effect (p>0.05) on abdominal fat. Giving synbiotics to broiler chicken feed affects the decreased pH and water holding capacity, and increases in cooking losses of broiler chicken breast and thigh meat. Keywords: synbiotic, Bacillus subtilis, tamarind seed, broiler chicken

Abstract

Antibiotics and microbial resistance are important issues in the poultry industry. The research continues to find alternative natural feed additives to replace antibiotics and have positive effects as growth promoters. This study aimed to provide the biochemical composition of pomegranate (Punica granatum) with the object of peels, seeds (including arils), and whole fruit (peels + seeds) using six replicates for each part of the pomegranate. Eighteen pomegranates were analyzed for water, carbohydrates, protein, fat, fiber, ash, polyphenols, flavonoids, tannins, and antioxidant activity. The weight of the peel compared to the total weight was significantly higher (p≤0.05) than seeds and whole fruit. The protein, fat, and fiber levels of peels were substantially lower than those of seeds and whole fruit, in contrast, the ash content and carbohydrate levels were significantly higher (p≤0.05) than other pomegranate parts. The biochemicals and bioactive compounds in the peel tend to be higher than the different parts. The levels of polyphenols, flavonoids, tannins, and antioxidant activity in the peel were significantly (p≤0.05) higher than all parts of the pomegranate, respectively 11.3 mg/g, 9.78 mg/g, 200.52 mg/g, and 39.03%. This study concludes that the peel is the best contributor as a natural feed additive.

Abstract

Local Rooster is potentially to be developed, because it has adaptive characteristics and is easy to raise. Giving probiotics to local rooster is considered important to increase endurance and decrease mortality in livestock. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of single-strain or multistrain probiotic supplementation, namely Lactobacillus sp. and Bacillus subtilis. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and five replications, namely P0: Feed + 0% Probiotic; P1: Feed + 1% Single Probiotic Bacillus subtilis; P2: Feed + 1% Single Probiotic Lactobacillus sp.; P3: Feed + 1% Multi Probiotic Bacillus subtilis and Lactobacillus sp. The blood profiles observed were hemoglobin, erythrocytes, hematocrit, erythrocyte indices consisting of Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV), Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin (MCH), and Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration (MCHC), leukocytes, neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, and platelets. Data was analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and continued using Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The study results showed a significant effect between treatments (p<0.05) in the MHC content in the blood of local roosters. However, all treatments had no effect on other blood parameters. It can be concluded that supplementation of a single probiotic of B. Subtilis and Lactobacillus sp. could reduce the MCH value of the Local Rooster then improve the body's immune system. However, it did not affect the number of hemoglobin, erythrocytes, hematocrit, MCH, MCHC, leukocytes, lymphocytes, monocytes, and thrombocytes. Key words: Bacillus subtilis, blood profile, Lactobacillus sp., local roosters, probiotic

Abstract

Abstract: to examine how different energy levels in the same protein affect feed intake, body weight gain, and feed conversion. The study used treatments in the form of differences in metabolizable energy levels at the same protein level, namely 19%. The feed treatments were as follows: T1 = 2800 kcal/kg, T2 = 2900 kcal/kg, T3 = 3000 kcal/kg, and T4 = 3100 kcal/kg. A total of 100 one-day-old unsexed broiler chickens were divided into four treatments, each of which was repeated five times. The feed treatment was administered from 1 to 35 days of age. The experimental design used a completely randomized design, followed by Duncan's test. The research parameters were feed intake, weight gain, and feed conversion. The results showed that increasing metabolic energy reduced feed intake and feed conversion (p<0.05) and increased weight gain (p<0.05). Feed intake was lowest at an energy level of 2900 kcal/kg, while weight gain was highest at an energy level of 3100 kcal/kg. Broiler performance was optimal at a protein level of 19% and a metabolizable energy level above 2900 kcal/kg.
