Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have a very important role in the development of the Indonesian economy. Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) is one of the provinces that has many SMEs. The SMEs has the potential to penetrate the international market, one of which is a wooden handicraft SMEs. Woodencraft can be used as a cluster because it fulfills three factors that enable it to compete in the international market, namely the factor of global market needs, the factor of superior products, and potential SME product factors. However, woodencraft SMEs still face obstacles in product penetration abroad, namely obstacles from internal SMEs, the government, and international markets. The solution offered to help woodencraft SMEs to go international a program called Integrated Woodencraft Cluster, which is a cluster of woodencraft SMEs that integrates supply chain management (SCM) based distribution systems with four main lines (suppliers, production, sales, and information), internet-based information systems, and Just In Time (JIT) principle. The program involves local government, civil service, wood handicraft SMEs, suppliers of raw materials, and academics. The advantages of Integrated Woodencraft Clusters compared to conventional clusters include having a clear vision for exporting production, a structured managerial system, having an export agency, supplying raw materials, clear lines of information, and being able to facilitate all SME woodencraft, both on a small scale and intermediate.

Abstract

In carrying out the production process, the company must pay attention to the health and safety of the workforce to support labor productivity. However, K3 at PT XYZ, especially in the production process, is still not going well according to the law, one of which is the use of PPE is considered not important by the workforce. This study aims to analyze the risks and controls in the production process. This research was conducted by identifying potential hazards by categorizing them into risk levels and determining the control of potential hazards in the production process using the HIRADC method. The results of this study indicate that there are 9 risks in the production division, with the grouping of 5 risks classified as high risk (high) which includes high risks such as bandsaw regarding sawdust, assembly, 1 moderate risk (moderate) risk, namely the raw material part, and 3 the risk is classified as low risk (low) which includes low risk such as band saw machines for chop saws. Based on the results of the risk assessment, most machines are classified as high risk, so it is necessary to improve the implementation of K3 and improve the source of danger. Of all the hazards and risks in the production division of PT XYZ, an analysis of potential hazards and their control is carried out using the HIRADC method. The recommendations given include completing PPE, carrying out engineering for example, carrying out eliminations such as using dust powder covers and using push sticks.

Abstract

The increasing age of humans leads to reduced strength and muscle mass. Increasing age can also cause a decrease in the function of other organs, such as the urinary tract so that some elderly people have difficulty moving places to urinate and need to use diapers. The types of urinary catheters on the market are intermittent catheters, suprapubic catheters, and external catheters. The purpose of this study was to design a special external catheter for women with the name Ecable. Ecable is designed according to the needs of users both the elderly themselves and people who care for the elderly. The method used in this design is design thinking. ecable consists of five major components: a urine bag, an alarm, a hose, special underwear, and a urine funnel. The advantages offered by this product are easy to install and remove, comfortable to use, minimize unpleasant odors, there is a full urine bag detection alarm, minimize the cause of irritation, and are cost-effective because they can be used repeatedly.  This catheter is expected to help the elderly and caregivers to overcome existing needs.

Abstract

Stroke is one of the leading causes of death globally, after heart disease and cancer. It often results in brain damage that impairs the function of certain body parts, including the ability to communicate. Communication disorders in stroke patients can severely impact mental health and quality of life, with studies showing that 53% of affected individuals experience depression. This study aims to design and develop an assistive communication tool tailored to the needs of stroke patients. The Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method was employed to ensure that user requirements are thoroughly addressed in the design process. Data were collected through observations and interviews with nurses and families of stroke patients. The House of Quality (HoQ) analysis revealed three main priorities for development: an integrated information system, blink-based control, and a feature to detect patient needs. The resulting solution is IISAAC (IoT-based Integrated System with Augmentative and Alternative Communication), a communication system that uses eye blink signals detected via an EOG sensor. These signals are converted into specific messages and sent directly to the nurse’s WhatsApp application. IISAAC enables more effective communication between patients, caregivers, and medical staff, helping to address the communication barriers commonly experienced by stroke survivors.

Abstract

Halal risk mitigation in certified poultry processing is the focus of this study.  The primary objectives are to map the important risk points in the halal poultry supply chain, understand how certification criteria are applied, and evaluate how stakeholder awareness and behaviour affect halal compliance. This research applied a descriptive qualitative approach, leveraging the case study technique through interviews with major stakeholders in the chicken meat supply chain. This research uses source triangulation techniques to validate the data by comparing information from interviews and literature reviews. The findings reveal several critical issues in the halal poultry supply chain, including limited control over halal inputs such as feed and vaccines, and low awareness among farmers regarding halal standards. Inadequate transaction documentation and the unclear halal status of chickens during transfer further compromise compliance. The slaughtering process often does not adhere to shariah requirements, with poor separation between clean and dirty areas, increasing the risk of cross-contamination. Additional concerns include contamination during transportation due to the use of non-designated or unhygienic vehicles, and the absence of halal labelling alongside the use of ingredients from unverified sources.

Abstract

'Keripik Lumba-Lumba' is a Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) that specializes in the production of cassava chips and banana chips. This SME faces several problems such as raw material shrinkage due to shipping, double work, and different product shelf life between each distributor. This research designed a solution to the problems in the SME with shelf-life preservation, job design, and new packaging design. A truck equipped with a temperature control system was designed to prevent the banana raw materials from rotting during transport. Wooden boxes were also provided in the truck for separating containers, these wooden boxes were lined with a solid mixture of KMnO4, clay, and ash. To solve the problem of the production process within ‘Keripik Lumba-Lumba’, the job design system can be changed to schedule and allocate employees according to their respective tasks. On the issue of shelf life difference between convenience stores and distributors, the packaging material for distributors can be changed from plastic to aluminium foil. This will allow ‘Keripik Lumba-Lumba’ to continue to grow with the application of technology in the process of delivery, storage, packaging as well as changes in the work system.

Abstract

This study evaluates the usability of three widely used 3D printing slicer software, Ultimaker Cura, IdeaMaker, and PrusaSlicer, at the Engineering Drawing Laboratory of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta. A mixed-methods approach was applied, combining the System Usability Scale (SUS) and the USE Questionnaire (Which Assesses Usefulness, Ease of Use, Ease of Learning, and Satisfaction), as well as direct observation of three UX dimensions: learnability, effectiveness, and efficiency. Nine respondents completed seven task scenarios, each with six repetitions. To compare the three software, statistical analysis was conducted using the Friedman test and Wilcoxon post-hoc comparisons. The results showed that Ultimaker Cura consistently achieved the highest SUS and USE scores and demonstrated significantly faster task completion times. The strong alignment between observed performance and user perception supports the validity of the blended evaluation method. This study concludes that Ultimaker Cura is the most user-friendly option for beginners and is well-suited for educational environments. This finding contributes to provide guidance in selecting software and teaching practices in educational laboratories, while also contributing to usability research.
