Abstract

The Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry, particularly within the domain of music concerts, stands poised for significant enhancement in Indonesia. It is worth noting that Indonesia has successfully hosted numerous international music concerts; however, there is still considerable room for growth compared to other ASEAN countries. This study employs theory synthesis to achieve conceptual integration as a research framework construct by combining the FoMO phenomenon, which is currently prevalent due to the rise of social networking sites (SNS), with different policies facilitating music concerts in Indonesia. This review study aims to achieve its research objectives and establish that the Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) phenomenon can significantly enhance music performance ticket sales. This is achieved by constructing the FoMO trait and the Bergen Facebook Addiction Scale, then classifying products according to each concert theme, whether virtual or physical. By capitalizing on the ubiquitous presence of social networking sites (SNS) and the heightened Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) phenomenon post-COVID-19, we anticipate significant improvements. This conceptual study can serve as a valuable resource for enhancing research on the optimization of music concerts, which is also an area that is still underexplored, particularly in Indonesia.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe COVID-19 pandemic has led to a surge in the appeal of "slow tourism,"  which denotes relaxed and unhurried vacations for tourists. Slow tourism encourages tourists to fully appreciate each moment, immerse themselves completely in the rich tapestry of local culture, and establish profound bonds with the varied Indonesian communities and landscapes that constitute this captivating nation. The principles of this "slow tourism" should be well rooted in Indonesia, particularly in rural regions, where longstanding customs have traditionally welcomed visitors to engage in culturally immersive encounters. The emergence of the "slow tourism" phenomenon occurred during the latter part of the 20th century and the early part of the 21st century. This study originates from an investigative journey to evaluate the present patterns and execution of "slow tourism" in Indonesia. This study employs a comprehensive examination of secondary data, encompassing scholarly research, and publications from the tourism sector by using VOSviewer, to furnish detailed insights into the evolution of this nascent paradigm. The objective is to promote conscientious travel behaviours and safeguard the nation's ecological and cultural legacy for future enerations. The study's findings offer comprehensive guidance, practical recommendations, and a theoretical framework for policymakers, researchers, and industry stakeholders.ABSTRAKPandemi COVID-19 telah meningkatkan daya tarik “pariwisata lambat”, yang berarti liburan santai dan tidak terburu-buru bagi wisatawan.

Abstract

Every family has a particular moment, especially in Malaysia and Indonesia, where the majority of the population is Muslim, where Eid al-Fitr has established a tradition for bringing family members closer together. Simply said, the tradition is known as "Hari Raya” whereas, in Indonesia, the term "Lebaran" is used. The year 2021 will be remembered for the social restraints put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This study aims to capture this once-a-year event, which will then be interpreted using Oswald's Marketing Semiotics strategy to juxtapose the two digital advertising media on the Youtube Channel for cellular operator brands in each country in the Interpretivism Paradigm using a qualitative approach based on Hofstede's Cultural Dimension Theory. The Hari Raya 2021 Maxis advertisement symbolizes the State of Malaysia, while the 2021 Lebaran advertisement from the Indosat Ooredoo Provider represents the State of Indonesia, both of which are displayed in binary opposition. The study's findings reveal a consistent pattern in promoting the country's collectivist identity, with marketing distinctiveness arising from a variety of key components. The dominant color is green, which has a characteristic Malaysian Muslim nuance in its advertising storyline with the theme "Raya Si Sakan," which represents the Malaysian Cultural Dimension of Short-Term Orientation and Masculinity. In contrast to the majority of the color yellow, the title "Bulan yang Baik," reflects the warmth of friendship in terms of the identical dimensions of Indonesian culture, which tends towards long-term orientation and femininity in terms of the majority of the color yellow.

Abstract

Environmental researchers have extensively examined the effects of urban heat islands. However, there seems to be a dearth of research on how communities perceive and engage with these effects. Urban heat effects have been a major environmental concern in Yogyakarta for the last 11 years. Urban heat islands have been widely studied, but research on community perceptions of these effects is limited. Therefore, this study investigates the impact of awareness and knowledge, personal experience, and perceptions on communities' involvement in addressing urban heat island effects, given the significant impact of humans and their potential role as generators of these issues. This study used partial least squares structural equation modeling using SmartPLS version 4.1.0.3 to look at the proposed measurement and structural models based on 481 onsite-collected responses. Findings showed that, although knowledge and awareness do alter how communities feel about being involved in the environmental care activities, they do not have much of an impact on how active the communities actually are. On the other hand, personal experience and perceptions have a significant impact on the effectiveness of community involvement, although they do not alter perceptions of participation. This study highlights the importance of developing targeted strategies that consider both the perceptions and practicalities of community engagement. In managing urban heat islands, it is essential to combine behavioral insights with effective solutions, such as reflective roofing and urban green initiatives. Future research should include longitudinal studies and explore additional factors such as social support and motivational drivers.

Abstract

The hospitality industry is undergoing a significant transformation due to the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G technology. This new paradigm is characterized by innovative services and experiences that are made possible by these technological advancements. AI is being integrated into hospitality services, revolutionizing the industry, particularly by enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of guest interactions and back-end operations. The advent of 5G technology is poised to usher in a new epoch for the hospitality industry, not just as a technological upgrade, but as a transformative force reshaping guest experiences and operational efficiencies. The integration of 5G technology in the hospitality industry can enhance the guest experience by providing personalized services and smart room controls. However, ensuring strong and uninterrupted mid-band coverage is a significant barrier to implementing 5G in hospitality. Successful AI applications in hospitality include personalized recommendations and chatbots that automate routine tasks. The absorptive capacity of the hospitality industry is critical for leveraging external knowledge for competitive advantage. Investing in research and development activities is essential for innovation and staying competitive in this rapidly evolving industry.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the role of technology in rural tourism development, focusing on the match between technology and the capabilities of local communities. The method used is a quantitative approach, namely data collection through questionnaires distributed to three groups of respondents: local communities, technology providers and tourists. Two main research questions were identified: (1) Is the technology applied by the community service capacity in the tourist village? (2) How can technology be adapted to the needs of local communities and the experiences tourists desire? The research results show that appropriate technology can improve tourist experiences and empower local communities. However, reliance on technological trends without a strong foundation can decrease tourist interest. Therefore, this research concludes that the application of technology must be based on a deep understanding of the local context to avoid inappropriate investments and maintain tourism sustainability. These findings provide important insights for stakeholders in designing appropriate technology strategies for tourist villages.
