Abstract

Studies on risk management in the tourism sector have been conducted, but studies on risk management, particularly for homestays, are lacking. This paper presents a theoretical study that provides an overview of the relevant theories on risk management in homestays. The literature review section presents selected articles appropriate to the research topic for review using identification, screening, eligibility, analysis, and conclusion steps. Risk management in homestays is crucial to avoid risks arising from the homestay management process itself and to create tourist satisfaction and loyalty. Novelty of this research is presents a complete explanation with data in the field, unlike previous studies that only presented articles with brief descriptions without accurate field data. The relevant theories selected in this study are also explained explicitly according to their function in the study. The purpose of this article is to identify articles that are related to the topic of risk management in homestays by grouping them into references, methods, main results, and limitations tables. Then from the selected articles, we present them in the form of a novelty table to make it easier to find novelty. Then finally, we created a special table that provides an explanation related to the variables discussed in this study. The selected data was obtained through the Scopus and Google Scholar tools which were entered into a table in CSV format. Furthermore, the database is used as a basis for conducting theoretical studies and literature reviews. This study uses a qualitative descriptive analysis method. The results of the study show that most of the articles related to the topic of risk management in homestays only present brief reviews and brief descriptions without providing explanations and understanding with accurate data research in the field. Many articles were also found that did not use basic theories that had a relationship between one variable and another.

Abstract

Environmental researchers have extensively examined the effects of urban heat islands. However, there seems to be a dearth of research on how communities perceive and engage with these effects. Urban heat effects have been a major environmental concern in Yogyakarta for the last 11 years. Urban heat islands have been widely studied, but research on community perceptions of these effects is limited. Therefore, this study investigates the impact of awareness and knowledge, personal experience, and perceptions on communities' involvement in addressing urban heat island effects, given the significant impact of humans and their potential role as generators of these issues. This study used partial least squares structural equation modeling using SmartPLS version 4.1.0.3 to look at the proposed measurement and structural models based on 481 onsite-collected responses. Findings showed that, although knowledge and awareness do alter how communities feel about being involved in the environmental care activities, they do not have much of an impact on how active the communities actually are. On the other hand, personal experience and perceptions have a significant impact on the effectiveness of community involvement, although they do not alter perceptions of participation. This study highlights the importance of developing targeted strategies that consider both the perceptions and practicalities of community engagement. In managing urban heat islands, it is essential to combine behavioral insights with effective solutions, such as reflective roofing and urban green initiatives. Future research should include longitudinal studies and explore additional factors such as social support and motivational drivers.

Abstract

The impact of operational risk management on visitors' memorable experiences, intention to return, and intention to refer Batulayang Tourism Village is investigated in this study.  The study tackles the important topic of how poorly managed operational risks, like subpar amenities and safety issues, impact visitor loyalty and pleasure.  Effective risk management is crucial for preserving satisfying experiences and encouraging return visits in Indonesia's tourism industry, which is becoming more and more competitive.  Research on operational risk management in rural tourism communities like Batulayang is still scarce, leaving a gap in our knowledge of its precise effects on rural destinations. Prior studies have concentrated on more general tourism contexts. This study is innovative because it uses a mixed-method approach to provide deeper insights into how risk management might enhance visitors' experiences and affect their future behavior. It focuses on operational risk management in rural tourism settings.  In order to provide useful advice for tourist managers, the study aims to investigate how operational risk management affects visitors' intentions to return and promote the town.  In order to support the sustainable growth of rural tourism in Indonesia, it is anticipated that the findings will assist tourism stakeholders in raising service quality, improving visitor happiness, and boosting industry competitiveness.

Abstract

Operational risk in a tourism village refers to failures or deviations in the execution of tourism activities, which, if left unaddressed, may escalate into reputational risks. This study investigates strategies for mitigating operational risks in Tugu Utara Tourism Village, Bogor Regency, West Java, Indonesia. Adopting a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through focus group discussions involving 15 key stakeholders, including tourism village managers, representatives from tourism village associations, and officials from the Bogor Regency Culture and Tourism Office. Thematic analysis was employed to identify and interpret patterns, with findings presented through fishbone diagrams and summary tables. Results reveal four core pillars for operational risk mitigation: system risk, human resource risk, internal risk, and infrastructure and supporting facilities risk. These findings contribute to the growing discourse on community-based tourism resilience by offering a contextualized framework for operational risk governance in rural destinations.

Abstract

Digital transformation of cultural heritage is a strategic step in preserving and promoting cultural wealth to present and future generations. This study aims to analyze the digitalization efforts of the cultural heritage of the Mataram Kingdom, both in tangible and intangible forms, and to assess its impact on the preservation and increasing accessibility of cultural information. The research method used is a qualitative study with a descriptive approach through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The results of the study indicate that the digitization of artifacts, manuscripts, historical sites, and historical narratives of the Mataram Kingdom has made a significant contribution to building public awareness of the importance of cultural preservation. This initiative also opens up opportunities for the development of culture-based ecotourism through digital media, such as applications, interactive websites, and augmented reality. However, challenges such as limited technology, funding, and human resources are still obstacles that need to be overcome through collaboration between the government, academics, cultural communities, and the private sector. Thus, digital transformation is an important means of maintaining the sustainability of the cultural heritage of the Mataram Kingdom in the modern era.

Abstract

This study aims to extend and investigate the relationship between professionalism, implementation of professional ethics, and audit quality by proposing client acceptability as a mediating variable for filling the previous research gap. It is a quantitative method conducted at public accountant offices in Jakarta with 176 respondents from 41 offices. The data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Model. The model is good and the Confirmatory Factor Analysis proves to have a high loading. The results show that professionalism has an insignificant negative effect on audit quality, but it has a significant negative effect on client acceptability. The implementation of professional ethics has a significant positive effect on audit quality and client acceptability. The client acceptability has a significant positive effect on audit quality. The result proves that client acceptance mediates the effect of implementing professional ethics on audit quality. The implication of this study is to contribute to the public accounting firm in a low-risk client acceptance policy in providing information so that public accountants can avoid submitting misleading financial information.

Abstract

This study explores the potential for a hybrid laundry service to address the unique challenges faced by the area’s predominantly student population. With students juggling academic and extracurricular commitments, the demand for convenient, reliable, and affordable laundry services remains unmet by existing providers, which are often criticized for delays, inconsistent quality, and limited accessibility. Through surveys, interviews, and the application of strategic frameworks such as the Segmenting-Targeting-Positioning (STP) model, Value Proposition Canvas, and Porter’s Five Forces, this research identifies key functional needs, such as affordability and speed, alongside emotional preferences like reliability and personalization. The findings highlight a significant market opportunity for a hybrid laundry service that integrates conventional full-service options with self-service facilities to offer flexibility, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Additionally, a phased marketing strategy encompassing awareness, consideration, and conversion is proposed to effectively engage and retain the student demographic. This study concludes that a strategically designed and marketed hybrid laundry service can bridge gaps in affordability and quality, delivering a sustainable and impactful solution for the Jatinangor market.
