Abstract

A study was aimed to evaluated the effect of partial replacement of corn with goroho banana stem mealon broiler chicken performans. The study was conducted at Faculity of Animal Science, University of Sam Ratulangi Manado. Using sixty three weeks broiler CP 707. Research used a complete randomized design, consisting of 4 treatmenst and 5 replications, ie  Ro : ration without goroho banana stem meal, R1 : 5% corn meal replaced with goroho banana stem meal, R2 : 10% corn meal replaced with goroho banana stem meal , R3 : 15% corn meal replaced with goroho banana stem meal . The variables which measured were : ration consumption, body weigth gain and ration conversion. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance ( Anova), and any significant differences were further test using Tukey test. The treatment was non significantly  diference ( P > 0,05) on ration consumption, but significantly difference ( P > 0,05 ) on body weight gain and ration conversion. The results of analysis of variance showed that the was non significantly difference (P>0.05) on ration consumption, while the addition of body weight and ration conversion were significantly difference ( P> 0,05 ). The Tukey test showed that the  body weight gain of R0 non significantly diference  ( P > 0,05 ) to the treatment  of R1 however R0  was significantly diference to R2 and R3, while the treatment of R1 with R2 and R1 with R3 showed significantly difference (P>0.05 )Based on this study, it could be conduded the Goroho banana stem meal (musa acuminata, sp) could substitute a part of corn up to 5% which made a better performance for broiler chicken Keywords : Broiler, Goroho banana steam meal, broiler performans

Abstract

THE EGGSHELLS’ PHYSICAL CONDITION OF BROWN CHICKEN EGGS AT PINASUNGKULAN MARKET MANADO. A study was conducted to examine the eggshells’ physical condition of fresh-brown chicken eggs (table eggs) at the Pinasungkulan market, in Manado city. The variables taken were egg weight in three general size categories (small, medium and large) and eggshells condition (cleanliness, smoothness/ texture and color). The averages egg weight of the fresh-brown chicken eggs in three size categories made by egg sellers were 51.57 grams for small size eggs, 62.03 grams for medium size eggs and 70.68 grams for large size eggs, respectively. The eggshells’ condition values of fresh-brown eggs were from slightly clean to clean (3.58 - 3.82) on cleanliness; from slightly smooth to smooth (3.64 - 3.85) on texture; and from slightly faded to brown (2.79 - 3.85) on color. T-test paired was showed that the eggshells’ physical condition of small size eggs was better than that of medium size and large size eggs seen from their eggshells’ cleanliness, smoothness/ texture and their color, It found also that the egg seller in Pinasungkulan Market, Manado had not been carefully made and well standardized the egg size or egg weight categories.Keywords: brown eggs, eggshell, cleanliness, smoothness/texture, color.

Abstract

Penelitan ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh penggunaan ekstrak rumput laut cokelat (Sargassum crassifolium) dalam air minum terhadap persentase karkas dan lemak abdomen ayam broiler fase akhir. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan berupa tingkat pemberian ekstrak rumput laut cokelat, yaitu 0%, 5% (0,18 g dalam 3 L air), 10% (0,37 g dalam 3 L air), 15% (0,56 g dalam 3 L air). Variabel yang diukur yaitu konsumsi ransum, konsumsi air minum, bobot karkas, persentase karkas, dan persentase lemak abdomen. Hasil analisis keragaman menunjukan bahwa perlakuan pemberian ekstrak rumput laut cokelat dalam air minum memberikan pengaruh berbeda tidak nyata terhadap konsumsi ransum, bobot karkas dan persentas karkas ayam broiler, namun berpengaruh secara nyata terhadap konsumsi air minum dan persentase lemak abdomen. Hasil uji lanjut Tukey untuk konsumsi air minum menunjukkan bahwa P0 berbeda tidak nyata dengan P1 dan P2 (P>0,05), dan berbeda nyata lebih tinggi dengan P3 (P<0,05), P1 berbeda sangat nyata lebih tinggi terhadap P3 (P<0,01) tapi berbeda tidak nyata dengan P2 (P>0,05), sedangkan P2 berbeda nyata lebih tinggi dengan P3 (P<0,05). Uji lanjut Tukey terhadap persentase lemak abdomen menunjukan bahwa P0 berbeda nyata lebih tinggi dengan P1 (P<0,05), dan berbeda sangat nyata lebih tinggi dengan P2 dan P3 (P<0,01), P1 berbeda nyata lebih tinggi terhadap P3 (P<0,05) tapi tidak dengan P2 (P>0,05), dan P2 berbeda tidak nyata dengan P3 (P>0,05). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan ekstrak rumput laut cokelat dalam air minum ayam broiler fase akhir dapat diberikan sampai 10% karena menghasilkan lemak abdomen yang rendah dan bobot karkas serta persentase karkas yang baik.
