Abstract

THE DIVERSITY OF QUALITATIVE CHARACTERISTICS IN   NATIVE    CHICKEN  AROUND MINAHASA.  This study aims to determine the diversity of qualitative characteristics in native chicken around Minahasa Regency. A total of 292 adult chickens were used as samples taken randomly and analyzed using descriptive methods. The results showed that the phenotype frequency, color genotype and feather pattern were 0.000515. Trait frequencies of comb shape was 0.000458, cupping color was 0.9957, foot skin color was 0.9949, and spur shape was 0.000193. The degree of heterosigosity of qualitative characteristics of Kampung chickens in Minahasa on average was in the medium category (0.20) to high (0.50). The degree of heterosigosity of the phenotypic traits of native chicken in Minahasa indicated the relative low degree of inbreeding mating. Distribution of phenotypic inheritance of feather color, comb shape and shape of male foot spurs based on samples of native chicken populations were not in genetic equilibrium. The qualitative traits of native chickens in the Minahasa Regency showed a fairly high level of diversity. Key words: native chicken, qualitative characteristics.

Abstract

THE EGGSHELLS’ PHYSICAL CONDITION OF BROWN CHICKEN EGGS AT PINASUNGKULAN MARKET MANADO. A study was conducted to examine the eggshells’ physical condition of fresh-brown chicken eggs (table eggs) at the Pinasungkulan market, in Manado city. The variables taken were egg weight in three general size categories (small, medium and large) and eggshells condition (cleanliness, smoothness/ texture and color). The averages egg weight of the fresh-brown chicken eggs in three size categories made by egg sellers were 51.57 grams for small size eggs, 62.03 grams for medium size eggs and 70.68 grams for large size eggs, respectively. The eggshells’ condition values of fresh-brown eggs were from slightly clean to clean (3.58 - 3.82) on cleanliness; from slightly smooth to smooth (3.64 - 3.85) on texture; and from slightly faded to brown (2.79 - 3.85) on color. T-test paired was showed that the eggshells’ physical condition of small size eggs was better than that of medium size and large size eggs seen from their eggshells’ cleanliness, smoothness/ texture and their color, It found also that the egg seller in Pinasungkulan Market, Manado had not been carefully made and well standardized the egg size or egg weight categories.Keywords: brown eggs, eggshell, cleanliness, smoothness/texture, color.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsumsi ransum, pertambahan berat badan, konversi ransum, bobot badan awal dan bobot badan akhir itik jantan (Raja) dan itik betina (Ratu) fase starter yang dipelihara intensif di musim basah.  Untuk melihat performa / kinerja antara kelompok itik jantan (Raja) dan itik betina (Ratu), data penelitian terlebih dulu ditabulasi menggunakan Excell, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif dilanjutkan dengan pengujian T-student secara berpasangan menggunakan aplikasi SAS versi 10.  Hasil analisis memperlihatkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan sangat nyata (P<0,01) pada rataan konsumsi ransum, pertambahan berat badan, konversi ransum dan bobot badan akhir antara itik jantan dan itik betina fase starter di musim basah, namun tidak pada bobot badan awal;  untuk itik Raja, rata-rata konsumsi ransum 572,59 (SE 9,56) g/ekor/minggu, pertambahan berat badan 179,75 (SE 0,19) g/ekor/minggu,  konversi ransum 3,186 (SE 0,05), berat badan awal 42,60 g/ekor (SE 0,16) dan bobot badan akhir 1.480,60  (SE 1,50) g/ekor, sedangkan itik Ratu, rata-rata konsumsi ransum510,33 (SE 1,98) g/ekor/minggu, pertambahan berat badan 149.98 (SE 0,24) g/ekor/minggu, konversi ransum 3,40 (SE 0,01), bobot badan awal 42,20 (SE 0,13) g/ekor dan bobot badan akhir 1.241,60 (SE 3,45) g/ekor.  Temperatur kandang di siang hari selama penelitian berkisar 26-34oC dengan rata-rata 30,93oC dan temperature kandang yang tinggi tidak membuat itik-itik penelitian panting. Disimpulkan bahwa, performans itik Raja lebih tinggi dari itik Ratu pada fase starter, namun keduanya menunjukan efisiensi penggunaan ransum yang cukup baik dan itik Raja umur 8 minggu sudah memungkinkan dijadikan itik pedaging karena berat badan rata-rata hampir 1,5 kg/ekor.  Kata kunci: performans, itik Raja, itik Ratu, Fase starter, musim basah.

Abstract

Suatu penelitian telah dilakukan untuk mengetahui penerapan biosekuriti pada peternakan ayam broiler di desa Warisa Kampung Baru.  Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis statistik deskriptif.  Aspek yang dikaji adalah tentang penerapan biosekuriti peternakan ayam broiler. Untuk penilaian penerapan biosekuriti, beberapa parameter dilengkapi dengan indikatornya masing-masing. Pengukuran parameter penelitian pertama-tama menggunakan skala Guttman, dan setelah hasil per parameter dalam bentuk persentase didapat, kemudian diinterpretasikan berdasarkan skala Likert. Hasil pengamatan menyimpulkan bahwa akumulasi penerapan biosekuriti peternakan ayam broiler di desa Warisa Kampung Baru adalah 89,0%, masuk pada kategori sangat baik; namun, peternakan ayam broiler di desa Warisa Kampung Baru, belum menerapkan biosekuriti secara menyeluruh (100,0%). Penerapan biosekuriti belum menyeluruh yakni biosekuriti terhadap hewan pengganggu serta biosekuriti terhadap lalu lintas tamu dan karyawan/pekerja peternakan, sedangkan penerapan biosekuriti pada parameter lainnya sudah diterapkan sepenuhnya dan perlu dipertahankan.
