Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk (1) mengetahui potensi hijauan pakan dan kapasitas tampung ternak sapi yang terdapat di area pohon kelapa, (2) mengetahui komposisi botanis dan produksi hijauan diareal perkebunan kelapa, dan (3) Mengetahui berapa satuan ternak (ST) yang digembalakan dalam luasan tertentu secara efisien tanpa mengabaikan kelestarian padang rumput diareal perkebunan kelapa. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama 2 (dua) bulan yaitu bulan Agustus – September 2015. Lokasi Penelitian di 6 Kampung di Kecamatan Tabukan Utara yaitu Beha, Raku, Naha Mala, Kalurae dan Moade. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode survey. Penentuan desa sampel dilakukan dengan cara “Purpose Sampling”dengan pengambilan sampel luas setiap ubinan 1 m² dengan jarak antara ubinan yang kedua yakni 10 meter, dan mengidentifikasi jenis jenis hijauan pakan ternak di areal perkebunan kelapa umur di bawah 20 tahun dan di atas 20 tahun. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian maka padang rumput alam di areal perkebunan kelapa baik umur di bawah 20 tahun maupun kelapa diatas umur 20 tahun di Kecamatan Tabukan Utara mempunyai produksi hijauan yang lazim dimakan ternak rata-rata 11.060 kg/ha. Komposisi botanis hijauan segar diareal perkebunan kelapa diatas 20 tahun dengan produksi Rumput 5.910 kg/ha (54%), Leguminosa dengan produksi 1.550 kg/ha (14%) Gulma dengan produksi 3450 kg/ha (32%) dan di areal perkebunan kelapa di bawah 20 tahun, rumput dengan produksi 5.348 kg/ha (48%) Leguminosa dengan produksi 3.818 kg/ha (34%) Gulma dengan produksi 2.015 kg/ha (18%). Daya Tampung di areal perkebunan kelapa baik kelapa dalam maupun hibrida di Kecamatan Tabukan Utara dengan rata-rata 1,52 st/ha/thn.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to examine the carcass quality and meat quality of native chicken fed dried tomato meal in diet. The study was conducted by using 200 heads of native chickens 10 days. The birds were divided into five experimental diets and each was divided into four replicate groups of ten birds per replicate. The based diet was formulated to contain 42% corn, rice bran 9%, fish meal 10%, fish oil 5%, soybean meal 9% and commercial diets 25%. Tomato meal was included in five experimental diets at levels of 0, 3, 6, 9, 12% to substitute based diets. The treatments were PO = 100% based diet (BD) + 0% tomato meal (TM); P1 = 97% BD+ 3% TM; P2 = 94% BD + 6% TM;P3 = 91% BD + 9% TM; P4 = 88% BD + 12% TM. Chemical composition of tomato meal was: 20.73% crude protein, 1.53% fat, 30.94%crude fiber, 0.98% Ca, 1.20% P and 2,416 kcal/kg of Gross Energy (GE). Results showedthat feeding tomato meal at an inclusion rate of 12% increased slaughter weight, carcass, breast meat, wings, drumstick and thigh, and decreased abdominal fat and blood cholesterol. Moreover, there were no significant difference in giblet (liver, heart and gizzard) between treatments. Meat water and meat crude protein were significantly increased. Meat crude fat and meat cholesterol were significantly decreased. In conclusion, tomato meal can be used as an alternative feedstuff in kampong chicken diets at inclusion levels up to 12% without negative effects on carcass quality and meat quality.

Abstract

USE OF WASTE CANNING MEAL IN THE QUALITY OF CARCASS BROILER RATION. A research evaluating the effects of the utilization of fish meal based on canned fish waste product of fish processing plant in Bitung, Nort Sulawesi. This research used 60 broiler day old chick. The research had been conducted for 42 days. Completely Randomized Design (CRD) will 4 treatments and 5 replications was used the treatments were sereal level of canned fish waste product :R1 = 8%, R2 = 10%, R3 = 12%, R4 ­= 14%. Variables measured was carcass quality crusisting of carcass percentage, abdominal fat percentage, and liver percentage. The results showed that there were no significant differences (P>0.05) on carcass percentage (71,13-72,90%) and liver percentage (1,82-2,22%); Howerer there was significant differences (P<0.05) on abdominal fat. Honestly significant difference (HSD) test  thormed that abdominal fat percentage of broiler fed 8% fish canned fish by product (3,27%) was significanly (P<0.05) higher than broiler fed 10% (2,76%) and 12% (2,75%), there was no significant difference between R2 and R3, However significantly higher than broiler fed 14% canned fish by product (1,84%). It can be concluded that the utilization of canned fish meal by product up to 14% in the ration can produce a good quality carcass.   Key words: Fish meal, canned fish by product, carcass quality

Abstract

ABSTRACT   EFFECT OF UTILIZATION OF VIRGIN COCONUT OIL (VCO) IN THE DIET ON PIG PERFORMANCE. Utilization of fats and oils in pig diets is of great importance due to their high energy value. VCO is obtained by cold press processing of the kernel from the coconut fruit. Utilization of virgin coconut oil (VCO) in the diets on pig performance.  The present study was designed to elaborate the effect of utilization of VCO in the diets on energy and protein digestibility of growing pigs. The experiment was conducted using 20 castrated male pigs aged 1.5 - 2.0 months weighing 12,0±2,0 kg. The data were analyzed according to the linear model procedure for ANOVA appropriate for Randomized Block Design with 5 treatments and 4 replications. Treatments were formulated as follow: R0 = 100% control diet + 0% VCO; R1 = 99.5% control diet + 1.0% VCO; R2 = 98.0% control diet + 2.0% VCO; R3 = 97.0% control diet + 3.0% VCO; and R4 = 96.0% control diet + 4.0% VCO. Parameters measured were: daily feed intake, daily gain, daily water consumption. The results showed that the utilization of VCO up to 4% in the diets had no significant effect (P > 0.05) on daily feed intake, daily gain, daily water consumption of pigs. It can be concluded that the addition of VCO up to 4.0% in the diets has no significant meaning on pig performance.   Key words: Virgin coconut oil (VCO), Performance, Growing pigs

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas telur puyuh yang menggunakan kunyit (Curcurma domestica val) dalam campuran ransum (feed additive).Ternak yang digunakan yaitu puyuh petelur (Coturnix-coturnix japonica) betina umur 5 minggu sebanyak 60 ekor dan per petakan berisi 3 ekor.Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu: R0 = ransum kontrol, 0% tepung kunyit;R1 = ransum dengan 3% tepung kunyit; R2 = ransum dengan 5% tepung kunyit; dan R3 = ransum dengan 7% tepung kunyit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan tepung kunyit sebagai bahan perlakuan dari 3% sampai dengan 7% memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap bobot telur dan warna kuning telur. Berdasarkan hasil dan penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penambahan 7% kunyit dalam ransum memberikan hasil yang terbaik terhadap konsumsi ransum, bobot telur, tebal kerabang telur dan warna kuning telur. Kata Kunci:Ransum, Kunyit, Telur puyuh.

Abstract

EFFECT OF PARTLY SUBSTITUTION OF BASAL DIET WITH SWEET POTATO VINES (Ipomoea batatas)  MEAL ON ENERGY AND PROTEIN DIGESTIBILITY OF PIGS. Pork is one of the meat producer animals that can contribute to satisfy animal protein requirements. Sweet potato vines is considered as an agricultural waste product and can be used as feedstuff for pigs. The present  study was conducted to determine the utilization of sweet potato vines  substituting basal diet on energy and protein digestibility of finisher pigs. Five ‘Duroc X Spotted Poland China’ castrated male pigs, aged 3.5 to 4.0 months with an initial body weight 50 kg (±2.5 kg) were assigned to four treatments as follow: R0 = 100% basal diet + 0% sweet potato vines meal; R1 = 92.5% basal diet + 7.5% sweet potato vines meal; R2 = 85% basal diet + 15% sweet potato vines meal; R3 = 77.5% basal diet + 22.5% sweet potato vines meal; and R4 = 70% basal diet + 30% sweet potato vines meal. Parameters measured were: energy and protein digestibility. Research reasults showed that there is no significant differences  (P > 0.05) among treatments on energy and protein digestibility of pigs in the present study. This indicated that utilization of sweet potato vines meal up to 30% replacing basal diet did not affect digestible energy and protein of finishing pigs. It can be concluded that substituting basal diet with sweet potato vines meal up to 30% has no negative effect on energy and protein digestibility of finishing pigs.   Keywords: Sweet potato vines, energy digestibility, protein digestibility, pigs

Abstract

ABSTRACT THE EFFECTS OF SUBSTITUTION OF  RICE BRAN AND COFFEE HULL MEAL IN RATION ON BROILER PERFORMANCE The effects of looking for alternative feed to variate feed ingredients for ration formulation is steel on going. The utilization of agricultural waste products are not maximized yet, although its availability are abundant, one of these agricultural waste products is coffee hull. The research evaluation the effects of rice bran and coffee hull meal in ration on broiler performances has been conducted at Faculty of Animal Science Unsrat Manado for six weeks using 60 broiler strain CP 707. Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 5 replication was used. The treatments  were : R0 = substitution of rice bran   (0%) or ration with  21 % rice bran + 0% coffee hulls ; R1 = substitution of rice bran   (33.33%)or ration with 14 % or ration with +  7% coffee hulls; R2 =  substitution of rice bran   (66.66%) or ration with  7  % +   14 % coffee huls; R3 =  substitution of rice bran   (100 %)  or ration with0 % rice bran +   21 % coffee hulls. The results showed that there were significant, effects of treatments on feed consumption, body gain and feed conversion. Tukey test showed that the higher proportion of coffee hull meal the lower feed consumption and body gain, on the other land feed conversion of R3 significantly higher compared to  R0, R1and R3. Based on feed conversion it can be concluded that rice bran can be substituted by coffee hulls meal up to 66.66% or its utilization up to 14% in the broiler ration. Abstract

A study was aimed to evaluated the effect of partial replacement of corn with goroho banana stem mealon broiler chicken performans. The study was conducted at Faculity of Animal Science, University of Sam Ratulangi Manado. Using sixty three weeks broiler CP 707. Research used a complete randomized design, consisting of 4 treatmenst and 5 replications, ie  Ro : ration without goroho banana stem meal, R1 : 5% corn meal replaced with goroho banana stem meal, R2 : 10% corn meal replaced with goroho banana stem meal , R3 : 15% corn meal replaced with goroho banana stem meal . The variables which measured were : ration consumption, body weigth gain and ration conversion. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance ( Anova), and any significant differences were further test using Tukey test. The treatment was non significantly  diference ( P > 0,05) on ration consumption, but significantly difference ( P > 0,05 ) on body weight gain and ration conversion. The results of analysis of variance showed that the was non significantly difference (P>0.05) on ration consumption, while the addition of body weight and ration conversion were significantly difference ( P> 0,05 ). The Tukey test showed that the  body weight gain of R0 non significantly diference  ( P > 0,05 ) to the treatment  of R1 however R0  was significantly diference to R2 and R3, while the treatment of R1 with R2 and R1 with R3 showed significantly difference (P>0.05 )Based on this study, it could be conduded the Goroho banana stem meal (musa acuminata, sp) could substitute a part of corn up to 5% which made a better performance for broiler chicken Keywords : Broiler, Goroho banana steam meal, broiler performans

Abstract

PERFORMANS OF QUAIL (Coturnix – coturnix japonica) PROVIDED CONCH PADDY (Pila ampullacea) FLOUR  AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR FISH FLOUR IN THE RATION. This research aims to determine the extent to which the use of conch paddy (Pila ampullacea) flour as a substitute for fish flour in the ration on the performances of Quail (Coturnix- Coturnix japonica). This research used 60 quail 5-week-old female and for data collection was performed 8 weeks. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of 4 treatments and 5 replications. Such treatment is the conch paddy flour with some level of giving in the ration, which is : R0 = 0% conch paddy flour + 15% fish flour, R1 = 5% conch paddy flour + 10% fish flour, R2 = 10% conch paddy flour + 5% fish flour, and R3 = 15% conch paddy flour + 0% fish flour. Variables measured in order to see the response of quail to the conch paddy flour is feed consumption, egg production and feed conversion. Results of analysis of variance showed that the treatment was not significantly different on feed consumption, egg production and feed conversion. Based on the results of this research indicate conch paddy flour up to the level of 15% can be used as a substitute for fish flour in the ration of quail. Abstract

THE EFFECT OF BIRTH WEIGHT WITH THE APPEARANCE OF THE PIGLETS UNTIL WEANING. The purpose of this research is to determine the corellation of birth weight with the appearance of the piglets until weaning. This research used the method of observation. Results or data obtained in this research, piglets from each parent is divided into 3 categories: high, medium, low. Retrieval of data held on a new born piglets, piglets aged 1 week until the time of weaning. Parameters observed in this research is the birth weight of piglets per head, body weight gain, the weight of piglets, and mortality (MRTA) piglets before weaned (%). Data were analyzed and presented descriptively, which is describing and explaining the general picture of direct observation. Based on the results of this research we concluded that litter size piglets, determines how high the birth weight, weaning weight, body weight gain, and mortality. The greater the birth weight more likely to obtain a high weaning weight as in this research the highest birth weight is 1.64 kg after weaning reached 7.54 kg. Keywords: Birth Weight, Piglets, Weaning
