Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a serious illness in which one of the treatments is hemodialysis therapy. It requires good self-management since the patients are prone to experiencing psychosocial problems. The study aims to analyze articles on self-management and psychosocial aspects of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis. A literature review is used as a method of the study. There are some tools used to find related articles such as google scholar, scient direct, and PubMed. The English keywords are self-management AND hemodialysis patients, and psychosocial AND hemodialysis patients. While Indonesian keywords are self-management DAN pasien hemodialisis and psikososial DAN pasien hemodialisis in the 2016-2020 period. 7 research articles are analyzed over 19,428 articles that have been screened. The literature review from 7 articles shows that the majority of respondents are aged ≥ 40 years (48.81%) and male (47.5%). Self-management’s assessment of 3 articles using different questionnaires shows that the majority of respondents have poor self-management. Besides, the results of the psychosocial aspects of 4 articles state that most respondents experience anxiety, stress, and depression while they are having good social support. It is recommended for workers in the hemodialysis unit to always encourage patients about the importance of self-management and families to provide support. It helps to reduce the psychosocial impact on patients. Keywords: Hemodialysis, psychosocial, self-management

Abstract

Abstract

Clay masks are cosmetic formulations designed to adhere closely to the skin, effectively lifting contaminants, cleansing the face, and absorbing impurities. We made a clay mask containing active ingredients such as niacinamide, alpha arbutin, ceramide, and hyaluronic acid. A careful selection of ingredients is essential for ensuring safety and mitigating potential dermatological issues. This study aimed to evaluate the physical characteristics, stability, primary irritation potential, and moisturizing efficacy of this clay mask formulation. Kaolin and bentonite are the primary base materials. The research included formulation optimization and physical stability testing using a cycling test, where each cycle was conducted over a 24-hour period for a total of six cycles. Evaluations were performed on organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, viscosity, and drying time. Subsequently, data were analyzed using paired sample T-tests. Antioxidant activity was assessed using the ABTS method to determine IC50 values. Both preclinical and clinical irritation tests were performed, and the clinical efficacy of the moisturizer was evaluated in 30 participants. The optimal formula consisted of 0.8% kaolin and 0.2% bentonite, and all the evaluation parameters met the required standards. Stability testing and percentage inhibition measurements revealed no significant differences during storage (p>0.05). The formulation demonstrated strong antioxidant activity (IC50<50) and showed no irritation in preclinical or clinical irritation tests. The efficacy results indicated that the developed clay mask formulation has significant potential as a safe and effective skin moisturizer.

Abstract

Wushu Sanda is a modern martial art that evolved from traditional Chinese martial arts. One of its core techniques, the suplex throw, requires explosive movement to lift and slam an opponent backward, which demands strength, balance, coordination, and proper technique. This study aimed to examine the relationship between physical condition and the ability to perform suplex throws among Wushu Sanda athletes. A quantitative correlational research design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. The sample consisted of 15 athletes selected using purposive sampling. Research instruments included mats, stopwatches, whistles, measuring scale boards, single bars, slam dummies, and hand dynamometers. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate methods with SPSS. The results revealed significant relationships between arm muscle strength (p = 0.01) and leg muscle power (p = 0.02) with suplex throwing ability. In contrast, no significant relationships were found for arm muscle endurance (p = 0.07), back muscle endurance (p = 0.38), and flexibility (p = 0.06). In conclusion, physical condition, particularly arm muscle strength and leg muscle power, was significantly associated with suplex throwing performance in Wushu Sanda athletes.
