Abstract

This study aimed to investigate and analyze Jalaluddin Rumi's teachings on religious moderation and Islamic education within his Sufi tradition. A qualitative method was utilized in this study, including library study, field observations, and interviews with individuals involved in Islamic education at Pesantren. The findings revealed that Jalaluddin Rumi did not explicitly discuss the concept of religious moderation. Instead, he devoted his life to propagating Sufi values and attitudes closely aligned with Islamic beliefs, mystical knowledge (marifat), and sharia as elements of religious moderation. The values of religious moderation conveyed in Rumi's works include compassion (rahmat), humility (tawadhu), excellence (ihsan), forgiveness, mutual respect, tolerance, and peace. This study, conducted at Pesantren Raudhatul Mutta'alamin in Lamongan, illustrated the significant relevance of Jalaluddin Rumi's Sufi teachings to advancing Islamic education and promoting religious moderation in Indonesia.

Abstract

Character education serves as a fundamental pillar in shaping a generation that is not only intellectually capable but also morally grounded. Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), as traditional Islamic educational institutions, hold a strategic role in cultivating character, particularly for students from underprivileged family backgrounds. This study aims to describe and analyze the character values instilled and the processes of character formation at Pondok Pesantren Al-Hassan Tuyuhan, Pancur, Rembang. A qualitative case study approach was employed, utilizing participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation for data collection. The findings reveal that key character values promoted include religiosity, discipline, responsibility, empathy, and independence. These values are nurtured through modeling, habituation, and intensive mentoring. The structured and religiously immersive environment of the pesantren enables a holistic character-building process. This study reinforces the significance of pesantren as a vital institution for character education amidst the growing moral challenges of the modern era.

Abstract

This article examines the implementation of Islamic moderation in fiqh learning and identifies the impact of the implementation of Islamic moderation in fiqh learning at Pesantren Mambaus Sholihin in Gresik. This research employs a qualitative-phenomenological approach, utilizing interviews, observations, and documentation for data collection. The gathered data undergoes analysis through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. This methodology enables an in-depth understanding of participants' experiences and perspectives. The results showed that he implementation of Islamic moderation in fiqh learning at Pesantren Mambaus Sholihin successfully merges salafiyah traditions with modern challenges. Its curriculum integrates classical fiqh with contemporary issues like online transactions and maqashid sharia, emphasizing tolerance for different madhhabs, flexibility during emergencies, and gender equality. Teaching methods like bandongan, sorogan, discussions, and real case studies ensure students not only grasp theory but can also apply it in daily life. This holistic approach aims to produce a generation that is noble, broad-minded, and capable of facing modern challenges without abandoning Islamic traditions. This application has a positive impact, fostering a harmonious, inclusive pesantren environment free from extremism. Students are taught to think critically, fairly, and tolerantly towards differences. However, challenges persist, including internal differences in views, external extremist ideologies, and limited teacher resources and abilities. Despite these obstacles, Islamic moderation proves relevant as an adaptive learning model for forming a contextual and inclusive understanding of fiqh.  This study promotes Islamic moderation education to prevent extremism and encourage contextual understanding.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan merumuskan konstruksi teoretis pendidikan Islam moderat dalam tradisi Pagar Nusa dalam perspektif pendidikan pesantren. Studi ini dilatarbelakangi oleh meningkatnya tantangan radikalisme dan ekstremisme keagamaan yang menuntut penguatan paradigma moderasi dalam sistem pendidikan Islam. Menggunakan pendekatan kajian pustaka, data diperoleh dari buku, jurnal ilmiah bereputasi, serta dokumen resmi yang relevan. Analisis dilakukan melalui content analysis dan deskriptif-analitis dengan sintesis konseptual sebagai kerangka pendekatan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa tradisi Pagar Nusa bukan sekadar praktik bela diri, melainkan bagian dari sistem pendidikan kultural pesantren yang mengintegrasikan disiplin fisik, spiritualitas, dan nilai kebangsaan. Struktur latihan, adab, serta pembinaan spiritual dalam tradisi ini memuat nilai tawazun (keseimbangan), tasamuh (toleransi), i’tidal (keadilan), dan komitmen kebangsaan sebagai pilar Islam wasathiyah. Nilai-nilai tersebut dibentuk melalui praktik kolektif yang terstruktur sehingga menghasilkan pembentukan karakter religius yang moderat. Penelitian ini menawarkan konstruksi bahwa tradisi kultural pesantren dapat menjadi medium efektif pendidikan Islam moderat melalui integrasi disiplin, spiritualitas, dan pembentukan karakter. Implikasi penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya penguatan tradisi kultural sebagai strategi pendidikan dalam merawat moderasi beragama di lingkungan pesantren dan pendidikan Islam secara lebih luas.
