Abstract

Duplitecture has become a captivating trend in Indonesia tourism. Duplitecture refers to the imitation or duplication of a popular architectural object that is intentionally built in a different place to enhance the tourist attraction within an area. Duplitecture usually adopts iconic architectural objects from foreign countries or those already globally famous. The trend of duplitecture invites debate because on one hand, it can be seen as plagiarism, but it can also be appreciated for its tourist appeal. This study examines the implementation of duplitecture in public spaces in downtown areas with a case study of Payung Madinah in Pasuruan City, East Java, mimicking the design of the Umbrellas of Al-Masjid An-Nabawi in Medina, Saudi Arabia. The aim is to investigate the important influences that limit or encourage the development of the duplitecture trend. Literature review was conducted in this research to discuss the duplitecture trend from various perspectives. Qualitative methods through field observation and interview were also applied to see the impact of the object existence. The study results show that the Payung Madinah in Pasuruan City has successfully become a positively impactful duplitecture object appreciated by the community. In addition to its unique shape, the object can provide functional space and offer new experiences to visitors in the downtown area. Its presence is strengthened by the religious tourism area around it, thus creating mutually beneficial benefits for the community, the image of the area, and its own existence.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate English conversational skills in early childhood through the use of the Comma 2.0 application as a learning medium. The research method follows an experimental approach, applying the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) in instructional design. In the analysis stage, we identified the needs and characteristics of early childhood learners in English language acquisition. We then designed the lessons by integrating the audio-visual-based Comma 2.0 application, adhering to instructional design principles that are engaging and suitable for early childhood development. The implementation was conducted with two groups: a control group using conventional learning methods and an experimental group using the Comma 2.0 application. Evaluation was performed before and after the intervention using English conversation skill tests. The results showed a significant improvement in the experimental group, validating the effectiveness of the Comma 2.0 application in enhancing English conversational skills in early childhood. These findings support the use of technology-based learning approaches in early childhood development, creating an interactive and engaging learning environment.

Abstract

In the face of global warming, all parts of the country are expected to take part in reducing the carbon footprint. This means that universities as the epicenter of education are also expected to optimize their role because universities have a big role in the mobilization of thousands of students every day. However, to bring sustainable mobility, the campus must be able to overcome many challenges, both in terms of infrastructure and campus management system. This study will examine the sustainable mobility that exists on the East Java “Veteran” National Development University (UPNVJT) campus through a study of the building structure which is reflected in the parking behavior of students' motorbikes. The study will be carried out through the method of observing existing conditions and assessing the condition of UPNVJT campus infrastructure on sustainable mobility. Data from respondents is also used to explain student parking behavior in response to campus infrastructure arrangements. The results of this study indicate that the arrangement of the UPNVJT building still does not reflect optimal sustainable mobility. This is indicated by the behavior of mobilization which still relies a lot on the use of motorized vehicles even for mobilizing activities with a fairly short distance.
