During financial crisis, the markets can survive, providing service needs to the community. Public markets have described the pulse of the people's economy. Therefore, the existence of public markets, which are now increasingly squeezed by the rapid growth of the modern stores, are important to be immediately saved. The government already has several legal protections to overcome this problem, one of it is the Presidential Regulation Number 112 of 2007 concerning the Arrangement and Development of Public Markets, Shopping Centers and Modern Stores. However, various policies are often only applied to the public markets that are provided or built by the government or regional managers. Even though it is not uncommon that the existing public markets originated from markets that grow from nongovernmental community self-help. These markets are almost evenly grown in every city in Indonesia, as well as in Pontianak. Identification of the pattern of growth of the public markets in Pontianak is intended to find out how public markets grow and develop in residential areas. This research uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach, to describe the symptoms or phenomena about the growth that occur at the time the research is conducted. A quantitative approach is carried out to find out the number of people's markets resulting from nongovernmental community self-help. The results showed that the pattern of growth of public market in Pontianak which was formed from the self-help of the people was very relevant to be considered in the structuring of the public markets in Pontianak in the future. This is related to community needs, location, ownership, placement, and management.

Abstract

Central Connecticut State University stated in 2016, Indonesia was ranked 60th out of 61 countries regarding literacy. According to UNESCO literacy is the ability to identify, understand, interpret, communicate, in various contexts. The National Alibaca Index said that most provinces in Indonesia have a low literacy index, including West Kalimantan, which is ranked 3rd out of 34 provinces. However, in Pontianak City, in the last 5 years, various literacy-based activities such as exhibitions, book fairs, discussions have been intensively held, as well as recorded more than 20 literacy communities in 2019. All literacy activities are organized independently and have no special space. Therefore, considering literacy needs and problems, the potential location for the design area is Jl. General Ahmad Yani, Pontianak City. However, there are problems where there is no standardization that can be used as a reference for designing a Literacy Center. Therefore, the design method used is the Design Thinking method, which, according to Kambel (2009), is a creative approach by gathering information and opportunities available to be synthesized into innovation and work ideas. Through this method, facilities such as exhibition rooms, classrooms, reading and collection, as well as spatial arrangements and forms are found to accommodate literacy activities in Pontianak.

Abstract

The market is a place where the place is intended as a place to meet sellers and buyers to carry out buying and selling activities of various consumer goods by conducting a bargaining process. The people's market is important for the economy, social and welfare of the people. The people's market besides having a major role in economic activity, also has other roles such as in a social role. Beduai sub-district is located in Sanggau district, West Kalimantan, this certainly does not escape social and economic activities. So far, traders are still having trouble finding a place to sell their wares because there are no people's market facilities in this sub-district. Therefore, it is necessary to build people's market facilities to meet the needs of the community, besides that the existence of the people's market also provides a place for traders, especially when the harvest season arrives. The design of the people's market in Beduai sub-district is an idea in solving community problems in meeting their daily needs, as well as economic activities that still depend on other sub-districts. Various problems that we often encounter in people's markets such as slums, dirty, muddy, smelly, and stuffy. The resolution of these problems is solved by the design method using five stages which include; initiation, preparation, proposal submission, evaluation and action.

Abstract

The Kapuas River is one of the rivers that crosses the island of Kalimantan. The Kapuas River is home to more than 700 species of freshwater fish, some of which are considered rare and endangered. These rare species are caused by the loss of habitat, mostly due to human activities. One of the solutions to the problem is to create an educational conservation facility specializing in breeding endangered species. The design is carried out through several stages, including introduction, definition, preparation, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. The result of the design is an aquarium conservation building dedicated to cultivating the rare species of the Kapuas River with the aim of reintroducing them to their natural habitat. The building's function is educational, emphasizing observation to educate the public about the importance of preserving animal habitats in their environment. The Aquarium Park design integrates the mangrove ecosystem into its design, using a futuristic architectural approach that harmoniously blends organic forms with nature, as well as integrating technology into human physiological aspects. The use of interactive technologies such as Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality is added to enhance the interaction experience within the building.

Abstract

Indonesia is an archipelagic country located in a tropical climate with abundant diversity of flora, fauna, and microorganisms. This diversity makes Indonesia a natural laboratory for plants, with great potential in the field of agriculture. However, with the continuous growth of population, agricultural land is diminishing, presenting a significant challenge in achieving food security for the nation. Therefore, it is important to strive for food sources with methods and efforts that can maintain the sustainability of natural resources in the future. In facing these challenges, Universitas Tanjungpura in West Kalimantan can play a role as one of the supporting institutions in maintaining future sustainability. One of its efforts is through the conservation of species and ecosystems by providing facilities such as the Conservatory Center. The design process of the Conservatory Center involves several stages, including collecting primary and secondary data through literature studies, analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and reevaluation. The Conservatory Center serves three main functions: conservation and education, management and services, and support. Through its design, the Conservatory Center at Universitas Tanjungpura creates an environment similar to the natural habitat of the plants within it. With three radial masses, the building optimizes lighting for its facilities, including conservation areas, laboratories, management areas, services, and a food court.

Abstract

Human needs are becoming increasingly different as time progresses. Types of human needs can be tertiary needs, such as the hobby of having a pets. The hobby to have a pets can be amongs popular animals like dogs or cats. It is not rarely for Pontianak people to pets a dogs. Dogs are social animals that can be a friends for humans and they can entertain people when they are feels stressed and with this interaction, we can increase and strengthen our bond with these animals. In Pontianak City, we can still find several facilities such as pet shops, pet grooming, pet hotels and pet clinics, but these facilities are located far apart and there is still no way to get these facilities in one location in Pontianak City. From these problems, the question arises about how to create facilities that can accommodate these facilities in one place. Therefore, the design of the Dog Care Center in Pontianak City was provided with the aim of providing facilities that focus on needs for dogs and providing proper care. The presence of this Dog Care Center in Pontianak is designed and expected to provide complete and appropriate facilities and have a positive impact on dog owners and can also maintain the balance of the surrounding environment.
