Abstract

This study aimed at developing an appropriate electronic learning media named E-Writing to improve students’ writing skill of English Education Department. This media will be the solution of students’ difficulties in writing activities especially as a guidence for writing task and activities. That is why this research is going to develop a media which based on the needs of analysis to make the learning process of writing skill become effective. This research is developed based on the Design and Development (D&D) model. The data obtained from the experts’ evaluation result. All data are both analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively using mean score and alpha Cronbach formula. The result of this study suggested that E-Writing can be such a beneficial media for students’ writing development.

Abstract

Teaching and learning English method recently have become very important issue to discuss as it is seen to not be effective anymore. This is proven by the majority of students who cannot achieve the learning target even when they learn English for many years. English Camp serves as a method that gives the teacher and the student a new learning atmosphere in which it can be done either inside or outside the classroom. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach where the data were collected through observation, interview, and documentation. The date then was analyzed by using triangulation consisting the process of; data condensation, the display of the data, conclusion verification. The result of this research suggested that English Camp is perceived as an effective atmosphere for English learners and teachers in achieving the learning objective. It can improve students speaking performance for speaking is all about forming habits when this is the focus of the entire learning activities.

Abstract

This research investigated the effect of SGD on students’ analytical exposition text writing for eleventh graders in SMAN 1 Srono. This research employed experimental research in two classes, those were XI IPA 1 as experimental class and XI IPS 2 as control class. XI IPA 1 class consists of 34 students and XI IPS 2 class consists of 33 students. Both of class were given pretest, treatment, and post-test. In this research, the researcher was giving same material but different treatment. The experimental class was tough with applied SGD as the method while the control class was tough without applied SGD. The result of this research showed that the experimental class was got higher score than control class in the post-test. The mean score of post-tests in the experimental class was 84,17 while in the control class was 68,30. Then, the researcher used independent sample t-test using SPSS 28 to test the hypothesis. The result of independent sample t-test showed the significant value was <0,001 which lower than significant level 0,05. Thus, the researcher concluded that there was an effect of using small group discussion on students’ analytical exposition text writing.
