Abstract

The availability of white snapper seeds is still as a problem which is there are still limited in some places and only seals in certain areas in Indonesia. So proper seed handling techniques are needed to increase their survival. This research aims to obtain the optimal fasting duration for white snapper seeds before transportation. Transportation was conducted in closed system, transported using a car, for 7 hours. This research was conducted at Ujung Batee Brackish Water Aquaculture Fisheries Center (BPBAP). The research used a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and three replications, namely: transportation of white snapper seeds with fasting period of 12 hours (A), 24 hours (B), 36 hours (C) and 48 hours (D). The data obtained was tested for statistical analysis of variance (ANOVA) using SPSS 25.0. The results showed that different fasting duration had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the survival rate either after transportation or five days post-transportation.Keywords: fasting; seed; survival rate; transportation

Abstract

Soap is one of the essential products in human life, used to cleanse the body from dust and dirt on the skin. Bath soap has developed into a primary necessity in society. Soap can also be used to treat skin diseases caused by bacteria and fungi. In South Aceh, there is an abundance of lemongrass plants (Cymbopogon Citratus), making them an easily accessible raw material for making solid soap. The processing of lemongrass oil soap involves turning it into soap using ingredients such as lemongrass oil, VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil), NaOH (sodium hydroxide), and water. All the ingredients are first weighed according to specified measurements, then mixed until thickened, poured into molds, and left to set for 2 days. The method used in the production of lemongrass oil soap is the experimental method. After the lemongrass soap is produced, its physical properties, such as shape, color, and texture, are observed. In the moisture content test, the water content found was 2.24% in sample 1, 2.99% in sample 2, and 3.59% in sample 3. In this case, the amount of lemongrass oil used affects the water content—the more lemongrass oil used, the higher the water content.

Abstract

Perguruan tinggi memiliki tanggung jawab dan peran penting di masyarakat yaitu Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi. Selain pendidikan dan penelitian, Perguruan tinggi juga dituntut melakukan kewajiban pengabdian kepada masyarakat sebagai bentuk edukasi dan transformasi ilmu pengetahuan secara langsung. Kegiatan ini berupa Pemberdayaan Ekonomi Petani Madu Hutan di Kemukiman Buloh Seuma Trumon, di mana diketahui sebagai kawasan penghasil madu hutan terbaik di Aceh. Selama ini pengelola hasil panen madu hutan masih dikelola secara tradisional, dan tidak terorganisir secara baik. Melalui pengabdian dosen Politeknik Aceh Selatan, telah dibentuk kelompok tani Jaringan Madu Hutan Buloh Seuma (JMHB), dan diketahui titik koordinat sebaran sarang madu hutan JMHB, serta pelatihan pengemasan produk (Packaging) JMHB dengan waktu pengabdian selama 10 hari. Aktivitas tersebut dinilai cukup berhasil dengan ditandainya madu hutan JMHB sebagai salah satu produk unggulan Aceh Selatan. Sehingga kepercayaan masyarakat dan peningkatan taraf ekonomi anggota kelompok JMHB meningkat.
