Abstract

Therapeutic communication on spiritual services that is often carried out by clergy is one of the activities to help the healing process of mental patients. This study aims to find out and analyze therapeutic communication in spiritual services between clergy and psychiatric patients. This research uses phenomenology method with in-depth interview data collection techniques conducted on four clergy. The results of this study indicate that the clergy interpret mental patients from a biomedical and personalistic perspective. Mental disorders cause erratic physiological actions that make the clergy also interpret spiritual service as an effort to help patients get peace of mind by using religious practices. The stages of therapeutic communication carried out by clergy on spiritual service are the orientation stage, the work stage and the termination stage. Opened with orientation stages, clergy make small talk first to get to know more about psychiatric patients. Continued the work phase which raises religious values, and closes with the termination stage consist of follow up plan and subjective evaluation. Clergy often encounter obstacles to spiritual service, the obstacles are miss communication, emotional instability and the patient's habit of saying abruptly. Spiritual efforts to reduce barriers are guarding emotions, pausing. The method used by clergy in spiritual service is muhasabah, returning to nature, reflection, and release of sin.

Abstract

Continuous health messages regarding Covid-19 are disseminated via social media platforms, covering essential health protocols such as mask-wearing, hand hygiene, physical distancing, crowd avoidance, limited mobility, and social interactions. These messages aim to encourage the adoption of health behaviors among the public. However, the persistent exposure to these messages can lead to message fatigue, potentially causing resistance to health recommendations. Despite numerous studies on message fatigue, none specifically address its occurrence in Covid-19 health messages on social media and its mediation by attitudes toward messages. Moreover, given Indonesia’s collectivist cultural inclination, responses to Covid-19 health messages, may vary. Through an online survey, this study collected quantitative data to explain the level of message fatigue experienced by social media users and the mediating role of attitudes toward messages in contributing to intention in health behaviors related to Covid-19. Meanwhile, qualitative data were used to identify message characteristics that cause and mitigate fatigue for social media users. Findings from 204 respondents reveal that a majority experience moderate levels of message fatigue concerning Covid-19 health messages on social media. Message fatigue plays a role in attitudes toward messages and intentions regarding Covid-19 health behaviors, with attitudes toward messages serving as a mediator between message fatigue and behavioral intention. The study underscores the theoretical and practical implications for addressing message fatigue in health communication campaigns, offering insights into effective strategies for mitigating its impact.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to elaborate and assess participatory development communication strategies employed in women's empowerment program by an Islamic non-governmental organization, specifically Lembaga Lingkungan Hidup dan Penanggulangan Bencana (LLHPB) 'Aisyiyah (Environment and Disaster Management Institute) Probolinggo City, East Java, Indonesia in 2020 to attain family food security during the Covid-19 pandemic. The three series of activities that constitute this empowerment program include training on planting vegetables, training on vegetables and fish cultivation in buckets, and engaging the online 'Aisyiyah Market group. This study utilized a case study methodology, collecting data through documentation and interviews with six informants who were committee members and members of 'Aisyiyah who are active in the empowerment initiative. This study demonstrates that, generally, the circumstance that the committee retains complete authority during crucial decision-making phases contributes to the practice of participatory communication in empowerment program. According to this study, the three activities used monologic and dialogic communication modalities in varying methods. Because collaborative member involvement only occurs when planning the formation of the 'Aisyiyah Market group, the level of member participation in the other two activities is still at a low level and only reveals involvement at the implementation and post-implementation stages of the activity.

Abstract

The advancement of information and communication technology requires healthcare professionals to have strong digital competencies in consuming, acting upon, and producing digital health information. In Indonesia, some social media content created by healthcare professionals has been deemed unethical or unwise, highlighting the importance of digital literacy in this sector. Although studies on digital literacy and digital health literacy exist, research specifically focusing on Indonesian healthcare professionals is still limited. This study aims to analyze the influence of digital literacy on digital health literacy among healthcare professionals. Using a survey method, an online questionnaire was distributed to 387 respondents. The findings indicate that respondents’ levels of digital literacy and digital health literacy are moderate. While respondents generally perceive themselves as proficient in technical digital skills, they report lower confidence in broader digital competencies such as sharing opinions, participating in online activities, and protecting themselves from internet-related risks. Although they demonstrate stronger operational skills, they encounter challenges in navigating digital health information, evaluating the reliability of information, safeguarding personal privacy, and adding self-generated content. These results confirm that digital literacy significantly influences digital health literacy, emphasizing the need for healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive digital skills. Strong digital capabilities are essential for engaging effectively with digital health information and establishing credibility as sources on social media. The study underscores the urgent need to enhance digital capacity, particularly in device security, information navigation, content creation, digital participation, and protection from privacy breaches and other online risks. Abstract

This community empowerment program addresses the limited marketing communication capacity among elderly artisan groups in Bakalan Village, Malang Regency, particularly in promoting health-based rose knitting products. The main objective is to enhance the skills of elderly artisans in designing, producing, and marketing innovative rose-knitted items that support elderly well-being while preserving local culture. The method applied is a participatory approach that includes training, mentoring, and cyclical evaluation. The program focused on developing rose-knitted products tailored to the elderly, such as containers for cold powder and scrubs, anti-hypertensive aromatherapy pouches, and sun-protection hats. These innovations were supported by visual branding, authentic advertising messages, and digital promotion through platforms like Instagram and YouTube (@bungapuspaofficial), as well as publication in national media outlets such as Times Indonesia and Pendoposatu.id. The results indicate significant improvement in marketing communication strategies and increased product visibility. Although limited advanced knitting skills among some elderly posed challenges, younger participants were involved to ensure continuity and innovation. This collaborative process underscores the potential of rose-themed products not only to enhance elderly health but also to strengthen local identity through Islamic floral symbolism, particularly the rose. The program concludes that ongoing training and strategic marketing communication are vital for sustaining artisan-based health products, stimulating the local creative economy, and reinforcing cultural values in Muslim-majority communities.
