Abstract

This article will discuss the role of youth in community development programs. The waste management programs were conducted in two districts in West Java, Indonesia, namely CK and PMin Depok. Youth and stakeholders serve as informants in this study, which employs a qualitative research method. The process of implementing and evaluating these waste management initiatives begins with engagement. Several factors influenced young people's involvement in this community development program, including the youngsters themselves and their environment. In each of these programs, growing awareness of the necessity of waste management underpinned youth involvement and could not be isolated from youth personal issues, as well as contact between youth and adults in the community, which had a significant impact on the program. How kids engage with environmental concerns is contingent on their response to problems, challenges, and opportunities, none of which occurred suddenly, but rather constantly.

Abstract

The community economic empowerment program at the oyster mushroom cultivation center in Village X which is run by the UM Amil Zakat Institution (LAZ) is intended to improve the economy of the target community. In the process, an economic empowerment program requires an analysis of the organization and its environment so that future program strategies can be identified. Aims to describe and analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in a community economic empowerment program, this study uses qualitative methods, with a descriptive research type. Information regarding the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of program management was taken through literature studies related to LAZ, economic empowerment, and swot analysis; the observation was carried out at the oyster mushroom cultivation center; as well as in-depth interviews involving members, administrators, center managers, LAZ UM, residents around the center and local government. The results of the study indicate that there are several strengths, including the large quantity of human resources, support from stakeholders and members. The weaknesses of this program are communication problems between the institution and the community, and the lack of a 'sense of belonging' to center members. In fact, there are various opportunities such as oyster mushroom product diversification, opportunities to establish new partners, and the creation of other activities that can be developed through oyster mushroom cultivation centers. In addition, the existence of this program is inseparable from threats from outside the center, namely the existence of a group of people who are considered to want to destroy the center's business and reduce consumers.

Abstract

Abstract

Since the independence of Indonesia, many problems have always been discussed. Poverty and inequality are one of those problems that existed and have been solved since almost eight decades ago. The government has been trying to make the country better through development that emphasizes economic improvement. Unfortunately, economic development creates another social problem: the gap between the “haves” and the “have-nots.” Social and economic disparities could cause social disintegration. The main dispute is not merely in the poverty itself, but how the stakeholders respond to poverty. This article examines the problems of poverty from the community integration point of view. We found how communities can become separated from each other due to various factors such a physical, social, and economic barriers. It outlines the challenges faced in addressing social disintegration through the children's learning house program which is based on community-based action research.

Abstract

The Tourism Village Policy launched by the government has developed into an ambitious initiative that can boost the community's economy. However, behind this dream, there is a complex discussion about how ready the village community is to undertake this transformation. This article discusses the stages of the community undergoing the tourism village program against the background of Taraju Village having limited access, the existence of newly formed supporting community self-help groups, and even the community's initial rejection of the development of a tourism village. Meanwhile, this tourist village has achieved achievements on a provincial and national scale. The research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, in-depth interviews, literature studies and field observations. The research results show that in establishing a tourist village, the stage of community readiness is a crucial factor in creating a sustainable tourist village. This stage starts from the reality that there is no public awareness regarding the development of tourism village, so it is necessary to raise awareness from various agencies. Efforts to prepare a tourism village continue with efforts to increase knowledge, as well as village involvement in Tourism Village competitions and culminate in the planning stage for the development of the Taraju Tourism Village.

Abstract

Background: This research is motivated by the condition of underprivileged orphans who are unable to pursue higher education and secure decent jobs due to the death of their parents and the poverty they experience. Meanwhile, the empowerment of underprivileged orphans, which is typically carried out by orphanages, is usually only done until they graduate from high school. Therefore, further empowerment is needed for underprivileged orphans to achieve their welfare. This research aims to explain the empowerment and aspects of power of underprivileged orphans developed through the ABC Jakarta program. Methods: This research uses a qualitative and descriptive approach conducted from March to June 2024. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, participation observations, and literature studies involving twelve informants, namely four program implementers and eight students. Finding: The results of this research show that the empowerment of underprivileged orphans by ABC Jakarta, which focuses on digital business, consists of new student admissions, student orientation, education and training classes, service, internship, employment, and graduation. The process of empowering underprivileged orphans can be seen from increasing students' capacity, knowledge, skills, and learning motivation. A strength perspective is found in ABC Jakarta activities, which focus on developing the capacity and potential possessed by the underprivileged orphans as students. Empowerment is carried out so that the underprivileged orphans can have power. The aspects of power developed in this program are the power to make personal choices and determine life opportunities, define needs, think, access and utilize resources, and engage in economic activities. This power enables underprivileged orphans to improve their lives. Conclusion: The empowerment process in ABC Jakarta emphasizes the potential of underprivileged orphans so that they can have aspects of empowerment in order to change their life for the better through employment. Novelty/Originality of this article: The novelty/originality of this article lies in analyzing ABC Jakarta’s empowerment model, which uniquely focuses on developing digital business skills to enhance underprivileged orphans’ power, choices, and economic independence.
