Abstract

Teachers' job satisfaction has been studied for decades. However, there has been no study investigating the profile of Indonesian EFL teachers' job satisfaction. This study aimed to find out the profile of Indonesian EFL teachers' job satisfaction. A sample of 340 EFL secondary school teachers consisting of 272 females and 68 males, 299 teachers with the undergraduate degree and 41 teachers with the master's degree, 34 teachers with  1-5 years of teaching, 60 teachers with 6-10 years of teaching, 53 teachers with 11-20 years of teaching, and 38 teachers with more than 21 years of teaching  were involved in this study. The instrument utilized in this study was an adaptation of the instrument developed by Spector (1994) comprising pay, promotion, supervision, fringe benefits, contingent rewards, operating conditions, coworkers, nature of work, and communication and distributed to the teachers via google forms due to the pandemic situation. The data were then analyzed using the confirmatory factor analysis.  The findings revealed that four factors emerged in the teacher job satisfaction model, that is, salary, supervision, service condition, and . colleagues. The item loading factors in this model ranged from 0.28 to 0.80 and the acceptable fit indices were χ2 = 88.82; df = 48; χ2/df = 1.49; TLI = 0.93, RMSEA = 0.05; SRMR = 0.04.

Abstract

Emotional intelligence and burnout of teachers are highly discussed in previous studies. This study set out to examine (1) the dimensions of emotional intelligence, (2) the dimensions of burnout, (3) the level of burnout, and (4) the relationship among the dimensions of in-service English teachers in Yogyakarta. The method used in this study is a quantitative correlational study through a survey. The instruments used were questionnaires adapted from the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and The Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test (SSEIT). The participants of this study were 204 in-service English teachers in Yogyakarta. The data were analyzed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) to find out the dimensions of emotional intelligence and burnout of the teachers and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) to find the relationship among the dimensions of EI and burnout. The findings show that the emotional intelligence emerged into four dimensions, namely perception of emotion, managing own emotion, managing other's emotions, and utilization of emotions, while the dimensions of teachers burnout emerged into four dimensions namely occupational exhaustion, depersonalisation, and personal accomplishment. Surprisingly the findings show something unusual, it contrasts with several previous findings regarding the level of teachers' burnout.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the content validity, construct validity, and reliability of the instrument for evaluating the teaching process in higher education. This research is development research applying the ADDIE model from Molenda. The indicators evaluated consist of context, inputs, processes, and products. The sample consisted of 1200 students from eight faculties, each represented by three study programs. Data analysis uses three stages: content validity test analysis using the V -Aiken method involving six panellists or experts; construct validity test using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Quantitative descriptive analysis and interpretive qualitative analysis used the Miles and Huberman method. The results showed that the developed evaluation instrument had good proof of the validity of the content, with an average V-Aiken score of 0.752, which was in the high category. Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta's evaluation instrument, which was developed through the instrument, already meets the validity of an exemplary construct of a good loading factor value (> 0.3). It has a composite reliability score above 0.7 and Cronbach's alpha above 0.6. The analysis results show that all empirical test criteria indicate the data is fit against the developed model.
