Abstract

The current world condition where the availability of energy especially non-renewable energy is running low, we are required to be able to use available energy efficiently and as economically as possible. Amid the not yet socialized use of alternative energy, these demands are mandatory. One key to saving energy is the use of electrical energy to meet the needs of lighting and air conditioning. Some ways that can be done to save energy are through the management of utility systems, user behavior and consistency of knowledge related to energy-efficient buildings. Some of the principles used in energy-efficient development are minimizing fuel, adjusting to the surrounding climate conditions, using appropriate materials, while still providing comfort to the user. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method focusing on efforts to minimize energy use in buildings.

Abstract

Abstract

This article discusses risk mitigation in the construction project of the lobby building and facade renovation of TK Dwijendra Denpasar. In this project, risk identification is crucial to understand the potential risks of each activity and then analyze the impact on the continuity of the construction project. The author successfully identified as many as 81 risks from 11 possible risk sources in this project. To reduce the negative impact of the identified risks, the author suggests several risk mitigation strategies, such as retaining risk, reducing risk, transferring risk, and avoiding risk. These strategies can help manage uncertainties related to potential hazards in construction projects.

Abstract

This study examines the resilience and adaptation of the production of space in Sanur Traditional Village, Denpasar, amidst the pressures of tourism development. As tourism has become a key economic sector in Bali, traditional villages like Sanur face significant challenges in maintaining their socio-cultural identity while adapting to rapid changes. Using Henri Lefebvre's theory of the production of space as a conceptual framework, this research explores how Sanur negotiates between preserving traditional spatial practices and accommodating tourism demands. The study employs a qualitative case study approach, utilizing interviews, observations, and document analysis to investigate the dynamics of the production of space in Sanur. The research questions focus on: 1) How tourism development has influenced the production of space in Sanur; 2) Challenges To Traditional Spatial Planning; and 3) What resilience and adaptation strategies have been employed. The novelty of this research lies in its multidimensional approach to understanding spatial resilience in the context of a traditional Balinese village, integrating concepts of the production of space, cultural resilience, and tourism development. Preliminary findings suggest a complex interplay between traditional spatial concepts (e.g., Tri Hita Karana philosophy) and modern tourism-driven spatial transformations. The village demonstrates resilience through innovative spatial practices that balance cultural preservation with economic opportunities. This research contributes to the broader understanding of spatial resilience in traditional communities facing modernization pressures and offers insights for sustainable tourism development policies.

Abstract

This article explores the relationship between tourism and cultural preservation as well as the evolution of bale banjar architecture in Kuta, Bali. In the context of increasing tourist visits, this study analyzes both the positive and negative impacts on traditional architectural structures and local cultural practices. The expansion of the tourism industry in Kuta has had a significant impact on local culture and traditional architecture, particularly on the bale banjar, which generally serves as a symbol of community gathering for the local adat. The study broadly aims to examine how tourism influences cultural preservation and the evolution of bale banjar architecture. The methods used include qualitative analysis through interviews with local residents, direct observations, and literature reviews. The findings reveal that tourism drives changes in the design of bale banjar to attract visitors, but it also poses risks to traditional values. On the one hand, increased attention to local culture has the potential to strengthen preservation efforts, but on the other hand, commercialization can undermine the authenticity of the architecture. These findings highlight the need for sustainable tourism management strategies to maintain a balance between economic development and cultural preservation in Kuta, Bali.

Abstract

Traditional Balinese architecture is a regional architecture that needs to be preserved in this globalization era. The knowledge and implementation of Balinese architecture is also increasingly diminished as the modernity influences the building (architecture). This is followed by the presence of a present-day architectural style dominated by minimalist architecture. There are several types of traditional Balinese buildings that still survive until now such as Bale Dangin, Bale Meten/sakutus, Bale Dauh, Jineng/Kelumpu, Paon and others, the building is still surviving in terms of shape, function, and materials used since the first time. Bale Dangin serves as a place of ceremonies, so it is vital to the life of Balinese people who practice Hinduism. Therefore, it is necessary to do the effort to preserve and keep the cultural values of Bale Dangin.
