Abstract

Introduction: Juvenile xanthogranuloma (JXG) is an uncommon benign cutaneous fibrohistiocytic, self-healing, class II non-Langerhan’s cell histiocytosis (NLCH). JXG accounts for 80-90% of cases of NLCH. It occurs most commonly on the head and neck of infants and young children and resolves spontaneously. Case: A one year-old boy presented with asymptomatic, multiple yellowish, shiny, and firm nodules with telangiectasia on the surface, measuring around 1 centimeter in diameter, on the face, the trunk, the arms, and lower extremities. The first lesion appeared on the face 8 months prior to consultation then spread gradually to other areas. He was referred from another hospital and was diagnosed as molluscum contagiosum (MC) with differential diagnosis of syringoma. Enucleation had been performed but failed to produce the molluscum bodies. Initial histopathological examination provided the diagnosis of syringoma. The second histopathological examination showed dermal inflammatory cells consisting of eosinophils, lymphocytes, and histiocytes with marked foam cells and giant cells. Eccrine sweat glands were normal. Some lesions decreased in size at subsequent follow-ups; observation was advised until 3-6 years. Discussion: JXG should be suspected in cases with multiple yellowish nodules appearing in the first year of life. MC usually presents with whitish papules, whereas syringoma is more rarely appeared, presenting with yellow-to-brownish papules. Histopathological examination can easily differentiate the suspected diagnoses; however, selection of lesion, timing and complete clinical information was crucial in reaching the final diagnosis. In this case there was a good clinicopathological correlation that the diagnosis of JXG was made with certainty. There was no eye and other organ abnormalities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the contextualization of classical text teaching in both traditional and modern pesantren through a socio-cultural approach, focusing on adapting teaching methods and their relevance in addressing the changes of the times. A qualitative approach with descriptive-analytical methods was employed to investigate the contextualization of classical text instruction in modern pesantren (Pesantren Persis 67 Benda) and traditional pesantren (Pesantren Miftahul Huda) in Tasikmalaya. Data collection techniques included passive participant observation, structured interviews, and documentation studies, with data analysis based on the Miles and Huberman model conducted before, during, and after fieldwork. Triangulation, extended observations, and enhanced rigor were applied to ensure data credibility. The findings indicate that traditional pesantren maintain classical methods such as sorogan and bandongan, while modern pesantren adopt integrative approaches that combine Islamic traditions with technology-based and contemporary scientific learning methods. Both models successfully preserve the relevance of classical texts in shaping the character of students through strong spiritual and ethical values. In conclusion, the contextualization of classical text teaching in pesantren not only serves as a strategy to preserve the intellectual heritage of Islam but also as an educational paradigm that adapts to global challenges, ensuring that pesantren remains relevant as leading educational institutions in the modern era.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of career development on organizational commitment which is mediated by the work motivation of teaching and education staff in Islamic educational institutions. The problem of low organizational commitment in this context is thought to be related to less than optimal career development programs that do not fully consider motivational aspects. Using a quantitative approach, data was obtained from 100 respondents who met the inclusion criteria, then analyzed using the path analysis method with the help of the SmartPLS application. The research results show that career development has a significant direct influence on organizational commitment. In addition, work motivation was found to act as a mediator that strengthens the relationship between career development and organizational commitment. This finding is in line with Herzberg's motivation theory which emphasizes the importance of motivator factors in supporting individual and organizational performance. In the context of Islamic educational institutions, work motivation influenced by Islamic values is an important element in building strong organizational commitment. This research contributes to the development of literature by integrating these variables in a unique context, namely Islamic educational institutions. The practical implication of this research is the need for managers of Islamic educational institutions to design holistic and motivation-based career development programs to increase the organizational commitment of teaching and educational staff.
