Abstract

This research aims to unveil the types, size, figures, and functions of musical instruments carved as reliefs of Kalasan Temple as a way to revitalize the music from the 8th century. This research implements heuristic methods with Panofsky's iconology analysis in three steps, which are pre-iconography, iconography, and iconology to analyse the reliefs of the Temple. The researchers validated the findings through forum group discussion with the Cultural Heritage Preservation Board of Yogyakarta. The findings show that (1) the relief of musical instruments in Kalasan temple is located on the head of Kala; (2) the musical instruments on the head are two wind instruments made of shells and a stringed instrument named vina; (3) there are two figures of musicians carved, which are two wind instruments players and a player of stringed instruments. The figures are depicted as heavenly creatures named Gandharva; (4) the measurement shows that the wind instruments have 35.98 cm length and 12.85 cm width, another one has 23.13 cm length and 12.85 cm width. Meanwhile, the stringed instrument has a length of 92.52 cm and 12.85 cm width; and (5) the musical instruments were performed to worship the Goddess of Tara.

Abstract

Idris Sardi is known as a music maestro in Indonesia. This study aims to reveal the influence of Idris Sardi on the development of music and its implications in music education. This study uses a qualitative method with a narrative approach. The data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research informants were carefully selected from the family, violin students, and colleagues of Idris Sardi in Jakarta and Bogor, West Java. The data were analyzed by organizing data and creating codes, describing codes in chronological categories and themes, developing interpretations, and visualizing data. The results showed that Idris Sardi was influential in developing (1) keroncong music by varying the tempo and expanding the repertoire; (2) the violin playing techniques included unique characters such as vibrato, glissando, and octave variations; (3) ethnic and popular music were made through orchestrations and collaboration with orchestral music. The implications in music vocational education were (1) problem-based learning by creating a new keroncong style to be accepted by society; (2) the improvement capability by exploring skills to play the violin; (3) life-based-learning by raising local and popular music to be qualified while enhancing the level of society’s music appreciation. In conclusion, Idris Sardi provided a strong influence on the music development in Indonesia, and the implication could be a new strategy to improve the quality of music education.

Abstract

In learning the violin, there are various kinds of challenges and obstacles, both technical and non-technical. Strong motivation is needed, supported by appropriate learning methods so that students can develop into capable violinists. This article outlines the philosophical, technical, and psychological aspects of violin learning by world-class violin pedagogues, which are then analyzed in an eclectic manner in order to obtain new approaches that can be applied to develop violin learning in Indonesia. The literature review method is used to select important aspects used in violin learning. The research results show important points of philosophical study in learning the violin include philosophy in starting to learn the violin, mental approach, emotional aesthetics, and talent in music. Technical and psychological studies include body position in playing the violin, sound production, intonation, vibrato, legato, musical nuances, psychological musicians, and the repertoire played. It can be interpreted that these selected and analyzed philosophical, technical, and psychological values of how to play the violin can become the basis for understanding and efforts to build students' capabilities in playing the violin in a comprehensive manner, in accordance with the Indonesian cultural background. Keywords: Eclectic, philosophy, violin technique, musical learning

Abstract

This research aims to determine the creativity of arts and culture teachers in integrating two different aspects of art. Art education has two kinds of concepts: first, art education, which is related to the artistic expression of art, and second, art education, which is related to the direction of education. For this reason, teachers need strategies to be able to optimally actualize and express students' abilities in exploring their talents in the field of art. This research uses qualitative methods through a digital ethnographic approach. Data collection through observation, questionnaires with forms, and documentation. The research results show that creative teachers will have a great sense of curiosity, be open, take initiative, and have high loyalty in carrying out their duties. This cannot be separated from internal and external factors that can encourage teachers to continue to develop themselves. The form of teacher creativity in exploring music, dance, fine art, or theatre material is realized in the form of collaboration between the arts. With these results, it is hoped that Arts and Culture learning can be optimized to develop aesthetic, artistic, critical, appreciative, and creative feelings in students.Keywords: creativity, arts and culture, integrated learning Strategi pembelajaran terpadu dalam pembelajaran seni dan budayaAbstrak Konsep pendidikan seni pada dasarnya ada dua macam yaitu konsep pendidikan seni yang berkaitan dengan aspek ekspresi artistic dan konsep pendidikan seni yang dikaitkan dengan tujuan Pendidikan. Untuk itu diperlukan strategi dari guru agar dapat mengaktualisasikan dan mengekspresikan secara optimal kemampuan peserta didik dalam mengeksplorasi bakatnya di bidang seni. Seorang guru yang kreatif akan memiliki rasa  keingintahuan yang besar, bersikap terbuka, inisiatif dan memiliki dedikasi yang tinggi dalam menjalankan tugas. Hal ini tidak lepas dari factor internal dan eksternal yang dapat mendorong guru untuk terus mengembangkan diri. Pembelajaran Seni Budaya diharapan dapat menumbuhkembangkan kepekaan rasa estetik dan artistik, sikap kritis, apresiatif, dan kreatif pada peserta didik, sedangkan bentuk kolaborasi antar aspek seni menjadi pembelajaran terpadu (integrated learning) merupakan bentuk kreativitas guru dalam mengeksplorasi materi seni music/tari/rupa/teater dengan seni yang lain. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan upaya guru dalam mengembangkan potensi peserta didik pada mata pelajaran Seni Budaya, mendeskripsikan strategi konseptual yang dilakukan guru seni budaya dalam memadukan 2 aspek seni, dan wujud kreativitas guru seni budaya dalam mengintegrasikan 2 aspek seni yang berbeda.Kata kunci: kreativitas, seni dan budaya, pembelajaran terpadu

Abstract

Model Pendidikan abad XXI menjadi hal yang sangat penting untuk dijadikan rujukan dalam penyelenggaraan sebuah pembelajaran. Artikel ini menguraikan berbagai indikator ideal dalam pendidikan vokasional bidang musik di Indonesia. Melalui observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi, diperoleh beberapa indikator ideal pendidikan vokasional bidang musik antara lain 1) Konteks pembelajaran vokasional bidang musik dapat ditinjau dari konteks ekonomi, sosial, pendidikan, sejarah dan internasional yang mampu memberikan daya kreatifitas dan skill yang tinggi dengan didukung sarana prasarana yang mutakhir; 2) Proses input melalui pengembangan instrumen tes berbasis kompetensi yang bertujuan untuk mengukur kompetensi; 3) Proses pembelajaran menggunakan strategi, metode, teknik, gaya dan taktik pembelajaran yang efektif; 4) Output pendidikan vokasional musik meliputi kompetensi utama dan tambahan yang harus dimiliki; 5) Outcome pendidikan vokasional musik terkait dengan kemandirian, kepercayaan publik, dan kreatifitas. Indikator-indikator ini dapat menjadi dasar untuk mengembangkan pendidikan musik yang ideal untuk menghadapi tantangan kehidupan yang sangat dinamis dan kompleks di abad XXI.AbstractIdeal Indicators of XXI Century Vocational Education in Music in IndonesiaThe 21st-century education model is very important to use as a reference in organizing learning. This article describes various ideal indicators in music vocational education in Indonesia. Through observation, interviews and documentation studies, several ideal indicators of vocational education in the field of music were obtained, including 1) The context of vocational learning in the field of music can be viewed from economic, social, educational, historical and international contexts which can support high levels of creativity and skill. state-of-the-art infrastructure; 2) Input process through the development of competency-based test instruments which aim to measure competency; 3) The learning process uses effective learning strategies, methods, techniques and tactics; 4) Music vocational education output includes main and additional competencies that must be possessed; 5) The outcomes of vocational music education are related to independence, public trust and creativity. Abstract

Model pembelajaran merupakan bagian penting untuk mengembangkan kapabilitas musikal peserta didik. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan model pembelajaran musik orkestra berbasis Student-Centered Learning: Comprehensive Musicianship through Performance (SCL-CMP). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan model interaktif Huberman meliputi pengumpulan data, kondensasi data, reduksi data, dan verifikasi/kesimpulan, serta didukung dengan penggunaan software NVivo 12 untuk pengorganisasian data. Hasilnya yang pertama adalah manfaat SCL-CMP dalam pembelajaran orkestra bagi peserta didik meliputi partitur musik orkestra dapat dijelaskan dengan detail, mendorong peserta didik untuk lebih aktif, karakter instrumen musik menjadi lebih mudah dipahami, dan permasalahan teknis dalam memainkan instrumen musik lebih mudah diatasi; kedua, daya tarik SCL-CMP dalam pembelajaran orkestra antara lain peserta didik memiliki waktu lebih banyak untuk berdiskusi, lebih berani berpendapat, dan mendiskusikan partitur musik secara kritis; ketiga , kendala yang dihadapi dalam pembelajaran berbasis SCL-CMP antara lain sikap peserta didik yang malas dan pasif, dan kurangnya kesadaran pendidik terhadap kemajuan peserta didik; dan keempat, optimalisasi SCL-CMP dalam pembelajaran orkestra melalui upaya mengutamakan diskusi dalam pembelajaran, membagi kelompok alat musik menjadi beberapa kelompok, dan mencari solusi dari setiap permasalahan. Permasalahan dalam pembelajaran orkestra dapat dibahas secara mendalam beserta solusinya, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis model Student-Centered Learning-Comprehensive Musicianship Through Performance sangat cocok diterapkan dalam pembelajaran orkestra.
