Abstract

Organizational commitment is key to the success of Islamic philanthropic institutions that manage public funds based on trust. This study analyzes the condition of organizational commitment and its development strategies among employees of Lazismu Kabupaten Gresik, a zakat institution with a high reputation for accountability and a strong Islamic culture. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through case studies, data was obtained from in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The results of the study show that the three dimensions of organizational commitment—affective, sustainable, and normative—are formed simultaneously with different drivers. Affective commitment arises from the internalization of spiritual values and the meaning of work as worship, sustainable commitment is influenced by rational considerations such as income stability and career opportunities, while normative commitment is strengthened by a sense of moral and religious responsibility. Lazismu develops employee commitment through the strengthening of spiritual values, a performance-based reward system, employee involvement in decision-making, and the provision of clear career paths. These findings enrich the Three-Component Model of Organizational Commitment with the context of Islamic work ethics, while also confirming the relevance of social exchange theory in faith-based nonprofit organizations. This study provides theoretical contributions and offers a practical model for zakat institutions in designing human resource policies that balance religious values and modern management practices.

Abstract

This research attempts to analyze the impacts experienced by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises' (MSMEs) Competitiveness after obtaining Halal certification. The study focused on MSMEs in the Food and Beverage sector using a qualitative exploratory approach. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach and using a purposive sampling method. One respondent was selected from each district to ensure that all districts within the study area were represented. The rationale for this approach was to secure minimal but sufficient representation from every district under investigation. The analysis results show that halal certification contributes not only to business growth but also to the advancement of Islamic economic values by embedding halalan tayyiban principles into the supply chain, promoting transparency, and reinforcing consumer rights in predominantly Muslim markets. The study further highlights that Halal certification contributes to advancing of Islamic economic values by embedding the principles of halalan tayyiban into production and distribution processes, promoting business transparency, and reinforcing consumer rights in predominantly Muslim communities. Therefore, Halal certification serves not only as a religious or legal obligation but also as a strategic instrument for sustainable growth and empowerment of MSMEs in regional economic development.

Abstract

Today, the religious expression of the urban community looks passionate. This religious passion can be seen in worship manifested in caring for others, charity (infaq, sadaqah), and a shar'i lifestyle in the public sphere. However, on the other hand, this new enthusiasm for religion has created a new awareness of religion. This article investigates the phenomenon of passionate religion in Lumajang and Jember East Java using psycho-social studies with phenomenological interpretation analysis. The result is that the new religious passion is determined by religious knowledge, practice, and experience, which are constructed gradually over time. This awareness is then dynamically reflected and embodied in a pluralistic social life. This passionate religious expression has complex psycho-social factors in Muslim society due to different social interactions, individually and in groups. This phenomenon, firstly, is triggered by an understanding of religion that is more on the aspect of theology (spiritual aspects) than a hard-and-fast understanding of religion (the formal aspect of fiqh and sharia). Second, the people are disappointed with religious figures and institutions that only teach religious doctrines, not values and substance. Third, the social community and religious education do not encourage inclusive, reflective, and critical views on social issues.
