Abstract

This research is about the implementation of the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) learning model to improve students' motivation and learning outcomes in Biology. The study was conducted at SMA Al Alwasliyah in Pematangsiantar City, involving XI MIPA class students in the 2024/2025 academic year. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) that uses both qualitative and quantitative methods. It was carried out in two cycles, each consisting of the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The sample consisted of 21 students from class XI MIPA.The research instruments used to collect data included observation sheets, motivation questionnaires (with a minimum completeness criterion of 75% for learning motivation), and achievement tests (with a minimum completeness score of 80 based on the school's minimum mastery criteria/Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal or KKM). Data analysis was then conducted.The results showed that students' learning motivation improved from an average score of 60.15% in the first cycle to 79.9% in the second cycle. Similarly, students’ learning outcomes increased from 66.66% mastery in the first cycle to 95.23% in the second cycle.Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) learning model significantly improves both students’ learning motivation and academic achievement in Biology, particularly on the topic of biodiversity, according to the school's mastery criteria.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the effectiveness of environmentally based learning in improving students' environmental care attitudes and science process skills. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The research subjects consisted of middle school students who were divided into a control group with a sample size of N=30 and an experimental group with a sample size of N=30. The experimental group received environment-based learning, while the control group received conventional learning. Data was collected through environmental care attitude questionnaires and science process skills tests using observation sheets, which were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The research results show that environment-based learning significantly increases environmental care attitudes in accordance with the results of hypothesis testing with a smaller significance value of  = 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05) with df = 29. The research results show that environment-based learning significantly increases improve science process skills. according to research results with a smaller significance value of  = 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05) with df = 29. Students involved in environmental-based learning show increased understanding of environmental issues, motivation to participate in activities environmental conservation, as well as the ability to observe, classify and interpret scientific data. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of integrating environment-based learning in the education curriculum, as an effort to grow a generation that cares more about the environment and has adequate science process skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of implementing the group investigation model based on herbarium media using the PictureThis-Plant Identifier application on students' creativity and learning outcomes. This research is a field research with a quantitative approach using the Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design research design. The results showed that the implementation of the group investigation model based on herbarium media using the PictureThis-Plant Identifier application had a significant effect on increasing students' learning creativity. This is indicated by the value of tcount > ttable (45.443 > 1.681) at a significance level of 0.05. The experimental class using this learning model had a higher average score of learning creativity compared to the control class. The implementation of the group investigation model based on herbarium media using the PictureThisPlant Identifier application also had a significant effect on improving student learning outcomes. The data analysis showed that the value of tcount > ttable (92.217 > 1.681) at a significance level of 0.05. The average posttest score of the experimental class (82.50) was higher than the control class (77.50).

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the concept sentence learning model on biology learning outcomes in ecosystems for tenth-grade students of Taman Madya (SMA) Tamansiswa Pematangsiantar. The population of this study was 191 students, consisting of five classes. Sampling was conducted using cluster random sampling, resulting in two classes: class X IPA 1 (38 students) and class X IPA 2 (38 students), resulting in a total sample of 76 students. Data analysis was performed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing (t-tests) at a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that the average post-test score for the experimental class was 88.68, while the average post-test score for the control class was 85.13. From the results of the hypothesis testing, it was obtained that t_(Count) (2.338) > t_(table) (1.992), so Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, meaning that there was an influence of the use of the Concept Sentence learning model on Biology learning outcomes in ecosystem material in class X Taman Madya (SMA) Tamansiswa Pematangsiantar

Abstract

The world of education deserves serious attention regarding children's character. Recent problems in our country are inextricably linked to character issues. According to Law No. 20 of 2003 concerning education, it is a conscious and planned effort in the development and learning process for individuals to grow and develop into independent, responsible, creative, knowledgeable, healthy, and virtuous individuals. This research method can also be considered a problem-solving strategy. This stage provides an overview of how a research problem can be described and answers found. The type of research used in this study is descriptive, which attempts to describe the research object in depth based on the facts as they appear. This study uses a qualitative approach to obtain an overview of the objectives. The study, entitled "The Role of Science Teachers in Building Student Character," demonstrates that teachers' roles in character formation are carried out through questioning skills, the use of media and learning aids, and the closing of learning skills. The teacher's role is crucial in shaping students' character in participating in learning activities. Students' interest and enjoyment in participating in learning activities are also important.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the guided inquiry model on students' conceptual understanding and learning interests. The population in this study were seventh-grade students of SMP Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Pematangsiantar in the 2021/2022 academic year, consisting of three classes totaling 93 students. The research sample was taken using Cluster Random Sampling, obtaining class VII-2 as the experimental class and VII-3 as the control class, totaling 62 students. The instruments used in the study were questionnaires and tests. The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA with a significance level of 5% (α = 0.05) using SPSS'21. The results of the hypothesis testing on conceptual understanding ability obtained F count = 15.60, while F table at the 4.001 level. Because F count > F table with a significance value of 0.000 <0.05, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The results of the hypothesis testing on student learning interest obtained F count = 53.11, while F table 4.001. Because F count > F table with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It was concluded that there is a significant effect of the guided inquiry learning model on students' conceptual understanding and learning interest in environmental pollution material for seventh-grade students at Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Pematangsiantar Junior High School in the 2021/2022 academic year.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning Model with Metacognitive Strategies on Critical Thinking Skills and Student Learning Outcomes. This study is a quantitative study. The study population consisted of 120 students consisting of 4 classes. Sampling was carried out by Cluster Random Sampling, namely class VIII-A using Problem-Based Learning with Metacognitive Strategies and VIII-B using the lecture method with 30 students in each class. The research instrument used tests and questionnaires. Based on the results of hypothesis testing using the t-test, as obtained thitung 6.836 > ttabel (1.701) at a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05. Based on this, it can be concluded that the Sig. value < 0.05 and thitung value > ttabel, which means H_0 is rejected and 〖H〗_a is accepted. Thus, there is a significant influence between the grades in the experimental class and the grades in the control class. Based on the results of the hypothesis testing using the F-test, the calculated F value is greater than the F-table (9.709 > 4.004) and the sig. value is less than 0.05 (0.003 < 0.05). Thus, Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected, indicating a significant effect of using the Problem-Based Learning model with metacognitive strategies on critical thinking. The study concluded that using the Problem-Based Learning model has an impact on critical thinking skills and learning outcome students of Prama Artha Private Middle School in the 2021/2022 academic year.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Project-Based Learning model on students' problem solving and critical thinking skills. The population in this study were eighth-grade students of Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Private Junior High School, Pematangsiantar, in the 2021/2022 academic year. The sample consisted of four classes totaling 118 students. Cluster random sampling was used to select class VIII-3 (30 students) as the control class and VIII-1 (30 students) as the experimental class. The instrument used in this study was a test. The data were analyzed to determine the mean, median, mode, standard deviation, linearity test, normality test, homogeneity test, regression test, t-test, and f-test. Data analysis using ANOVA with a significance level of 5% (α = 0.05) using SPSS 21 software revealed an effect of Project-Based Learning on problem-solving skills. The calculated F-value was greater than the F-table (8.184 > 4.004) and the significance value was less than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). The hypothesis testing on students' critical thinking skills showed an F-value greater than the F-table (19.208 > 4.004) and the significance value was less than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). Therefore, Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected. This indicates that the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model has an effect on students' problem-solving and critical thinking skills on the human excretory system topic in eighth-grade students at Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Pematangsiantar Private Junior High School in the 2021/2022 academic year.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Blended Learning model on science process skills and student learning outcomes at SMA YPK Pematangsiantar in the 2020/2021 Academic Year. The population was 105 students consisting of 3 classes. The control class (X IPA-3) consisted of 35 students and the experimental class (X IPA-1) consisted of 35 students. The control class (X IPA-3) was treated using the lecture learning method and the experimental class (X IPA-1) was treated using the blended learning model. From the t-test results, the t-value was obtained > t table, namely 2.546 > 1.667 at a significance level of α = 0.05 and degrees of freedom (df) = 54, so H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted, meaning there was an effect of the blended learning model on the science process skills of grade X students on the ecosystem material at SMA YPK Pematangsiantar in the 2020/2021 Academic Year. The posttest results for the control class (X IPA-3) were 93.48 and for the experimental class (X IPA-3) 94.74. The t-test results showed a calculated t value > t table, which was 2.227 > 1.667 at a significance level of α = 0.05 and 69 degrees of freedom (df). Therefore, H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. This means that the use of the blended learning model has an effect on the learning outcomes of 10th-grade students in the ecosystem topic at SMA YPK Pematangsiantar. It was concluded that the use of the blended learning model has an effect on the science process skills (SPS) and learning outcomes of 10thgrade students in the Ecosystem topic at SMA YPK Pematangsiantar in the 2020/2021 academic year.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in student learning outcomes using the Group Investigation (GI) and Think Talk Write (TTW) learning models on the evolution material in grade XII of SMA Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Pematangsiantar in the 2019/2020 Academic Year. The population in this study were all grade XII students of SMA Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga consisting of 3 (three) classes with a total of 103 students and the research sample was 68 students consisting of two classes, namely class XII-IA1 with 34 students as the experimental class I using the Group Investigation (GI) learning model and XII-IA2 with 34 students as the experimental class II using the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model. Data analysis was carried out using SPSS 21 to find the average value, standard deviation and hypothesis proven using the t-test at a significance level of α = 0.05. The research results obtained an average learning outcome score of 79.26 for experimental class I using the Group Investigation (GI) learning model, and 84.12 for experimental class II using the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model. Hypothesis testing using the t-test at a significance level of α = 0.05 and dk = 66 yielded a calculated t (3.91) > t (2.00). Therefore, H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, indicating a difference in student learning outcomes between the Group Investigation (GI) and Think Talk Write (TTW) learning models on evolution in grade XII of SMA Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Pematangsiantar in the 2019/2020 academic year.
